When I 1st started catfishing 2 years ago I used to use jello chicken but was only catching channel cats. I really wanted to get on flatheads so I took the advice of fishing for bluegills and using em live/cutbait and never looked back. I'll still use it when I fish with my buddy and we have 6+ setups out so we have bluegills through the night but bluegills ever since have been my goto
I love catching Cats on Bluegill. My first big Flathead was caught using one when I was a teen. Then I caught a huge Largemouth Bass on the next Bluegill. Fun times!
Good comparison video. I never tried kool aid i used strawberry and grape jello before for channel cats but usually just use plain hot dogs now. seems to work just as well without the jello. they work for gaff tops and hard heads also.
I will have to try that I have never tried jello hot dogs or Kool-Aid hot dogs I will have to try it the next time I go catfishing and see if I can do any good I've done good on just regular hot dogs catching catfish and surprising I caught a largemouth bass on a regular hot dog
I wonder if the Kool-Aid and a Jello make the hot dog firmer than the other and keep it on longer maybe the Kool-Aid one is not getting so many bites because they grab it and they're gone and the yellow one stays on the hook longer for multiple bites I don't know I never heard of hot dog until recently
From the the way you had the packages on the groung it looked like the jello rod is the one further away from the camera and the koolaid is the one closer to the camera. If this true then technally the koolaid caught the first cat. Anyways I enjoy your videos keep up the good work.
You never mentioned what flavor or flavors you were using. Cherry or Strawberry ? I've used Strawberry Jello Hot Dogs with good success in the Hudson River, (Sleepy Hollow, NY, 25 Mi north of NYC, brackish water. Been catching 4-5 lb Channel Cat Fish.
9/24/2024 liked your video, and on the 28th of September, I’m going with a group of fellow church members and taking my 14 year old grandson, and I’ll have the jello /dog bait for my grandson & I to try out. Going to a catfish farm in Deridder, La. Our first time fishing there, and I think the only second time my grandson has been fishing….👍🏻🇺🇸
"Some of the amino acids are the same amino acids in bluegill I couldn't verify it.... But some of the same amino acids are the same as bluegill so there is some truth to it" I'm confused man
I can be confusing like that sometimes lol! I remember the names matched between the two. I should have wrote them down and been more specific. If anything, the animal product in Jell-O makes it superior for fishing purposes.
Hello Billy I like your videos Jello and Kool-Aid marinated with chicken 🍗🍖 you keep doing what you're doing we all love you Billie believe me these to take me in special ed fishing
I had a big channel I caught that had a pork chop bone is its gut. Channel will eat anything it seems. I would cut open their gut to see what they were feeding on and have found sparrow chicks, snails, frogs and even a old pull pop can tab.

I use both of these baits for years in Arizona canals and mann i tell Billy the channel love em.. Great video brother.
Awesome! Thank you!
Billy keep doing more fishing videos like this one 😃😀

I catch more on jello rather than koolaid. Been using it for years now
Strawberry jello soaked chicken will catch the little ones all day.
I have better luck with Kool-aid in rivers but better luck with Jello in still water. Kind of weird to me. Good post!
What cart are you using in this video....I need that.
I took a cart I found at a garage sale and added a kayak rod holder to it. Here is the video on it: th-cam.com/video/1qm7XdNv5-E/w-d-xo.html
Walmart has them camping section
I wonder if un-flavored gelatin would give the amino acids flavor with out the staining color?
Would be something to try!
Great video Billy. Gon a try some strawberry jello chicken tomorrow
Good luck!
The way you cast I don't understand how they even stayed on the hook

That is neat. Good luck if you do try!
I am going to give it a try and I'm going to try a different color than red I'm going to try like a grape or maybe a green

All I know is Jello is made from animal products and koolaid is not. Jello would be the best option to use on any bait.
I'm going to dip the taddy lures in jello to see if yellowtail or yellow fin tuna turn on the bite faster 😂
Good luck!

Thanks for watching! I may have messed up if that is true lol
Appears the Jello hotdogs out-fishes the kool-aid hotdogs. My guess is the amino acid content does make a difference.
What about sugar free jello? It doesn't list Amino acid
@@OperaGhost-5... Saw a video where the guy said he used sugar free and it worked.
Now there has to be a side by side test with sugar and sugar free.

Sorry both were strawberry. I really don't think the flavor matters. It's the amino acids in the Jello that makes it work.
Ive seen cherry kool aid catch some big cats thats cherry kool aid chicken
how can i buy this Jello?
Its flavored Gelatin. Which is made from animal collagen. Should be at any grocery/food store around the world?
Тhanks! I will try it.
@@Димитър.КостадиновGood luck!
I agree the best bait is in the water but I will try the gelatin
Good luck when you do! I will try it this spring when the Flatheads get more active.

I’m fishing with a buddy who brought garlic shrimp and he caught the first catfish tonight!

Mix both together be ultimate bait
Now that is a good idea!
Do you know Billy we're definitely learning a lot from your videos you know Billy flathead catfish interesting good for you you

They do eat everything! Thanks for dropping by.
Gives me idea try pork chops for big channel cats thanks
@@chriswalls5831 I would try the pop top. lol
@@kevinvandevelde5169 lol that be different
Your Jello and Kool-Aid are heartburn and acid reflux in a bag.🤢🤮😆🤣😂
Plain chicken is better
Buddy just rinse your hands off in the water and have something to wipe them off with.
Jello is better because it is made from cologne from animal products.
Agree!
