    I want to install pot lights in my kitchen , I have the can and light bulb screw in there.
    Is it ok to keep the can there and install the pack lights inside the can, So no need to go in attic ?

    Considering it’s it 10000 degrees in attic for 365 days a year, I’m never gonna change my lights

    Thank you for this. I just did it for my outside patio. I wasn’t as lucky. I had to take off the porch ceiling to remove the box.

      You can take off the can housing from inside the can, there’s 5/8 screws holding the can to the mount, they are designed so you don’t have to caut ceilings open to access the connections

      @@FixThisHouse Okay so here's the story I currently have I believe Can Lights (the lights that screw in and get tucked in the can) and I want to change them all to some Peteme brand LED Recessed lighting that change color. And I'm worried I don't want to screw anything up cause I can't afford to replace one and can't afford an electrician

      @@FixThisHouse Hi this is great information. I would love to get your input and more detail video on replacing such can light with ultra thin recessed lighting. Removing can is bit of extra work for non-professionals so I am inclined to just use retrofit recessed light. What would you recommend? any pros and cons between those two options?

    What if you have these and have a cathedral ceiling? I’m wanting to change mine to canless leds, and not use the kind that screw in where the bulb was because none of those look like the rest in my house and cheap

      @@Mark-bh8zonot really. Looks like I’m going to be cutting the Sheetrock around them and removing my old cans and then I’m going with the halo kind that are adjustable up to a 12/12. My living room ceiling is a 10/12, the lights from one side light up the other if that makes sense, and that’s why I’m going with the adjustable. Check them out. They’re super nice

    It's safer (and I think required by code) to put the terminated cables in a junction box that is mounted somewhere in the attic. It's dangerous to leave those wires terminated with just a wire nut. Someone could walk by and step on that wire and the wire nut comes off, and now it's an exposed wire that could be hot and electrocute someone. Especially with insulation, you could end up with those wires buried in insulation and a person up there wouldn't even see the wires.

    • @zrxgrim
      @zrxgrim 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know code, but do agree 100% on the safety aspect...

      He said he was gonna use the wires soon to install new lights but if you’re not using it then put it in a jbox. He literally said that
