    When I started my photography journey, I shot in hard sunlight, and liked the images. But then other photogs kept saying get out of the sun and into shade. And although I understand and appreciate the soft light in the shade, I miss the direct light. Thanks for doing this video. I'm going to include more direct light portraits in my shoots.

    Thanks Emily. Great video. I’d love to see some photos with golden hour light as backlight and flash highlighting the subject. Best of both worlds.

    Hi Emily, welcome to Cape Town. I follow your TH-cam videos regularly. I live in Cape Town, its wonderful to see you doing location shoots in Cape Town, hope you have a wonderful stay in the mother city. Only problem you'll encounter will be the south easter wind which will blow you away, most days the weather will be good for location shoots. It will be a pleasure to meet you and watch you in action.Wishing a a enjoyable stay in Cape Town, South Africa!

    Lots of great practical tips here (LOVED especially those last moody lighting situations!)

    It’s really great to see you out on location. It feels less formal and fun.
    I would love to see your methodology using strobes outside in similar conditions.

    Thanks for this! I'd love to see more outdoor portrait setups ..perhaps incorporating a reflector and/or on-camera bounced flash outdoors. Bonus if you can show how you'd do it all without an assistant! ☺️

    Wow, enjoy South Africa! The weather than NY is much nicer this time of year. It already looks like you've got some sun.

    Direct sunlight with everything in Focus is a sign of an amateur, or a landscape Photographer! The last moody photographs of this video were the best!

    I'm not a portrait shooter but want to learn, I am hoping to do some next month and see how they turn out. Since I don't have the lighting gear my first ones will certainly be natural light! #adorama #CreateNoMatterWhat

    Great video! Natural light is always the way go. So many different angles and what you can achieve can be amazing whether in golden hour or prime time.
    For your next video, how about strobe on outside on location

      Natural light like harsh light?

    Welcome to South Africa. If you ever find yourself in Jeffreys Bay, I would love to meet you and do a shoot with you. Always wanted to do a shoot with other photographers. Enjoy SA

    Hi my name is Carlos and I was wondering how you like it shooting with 5D mark 4 when everyone seems to be shooting with mirrorless

  • @gordonjohnston684
    @gordonjohnston684 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use a Canon Angle finder with my 5DS, it’s perfect for those low angle shots, you won’t go back.

    Lovely model! Why are you using 35mm lens for shooting so many face closeups? I would have used at least 50mm for that :)

    • @bernardomeza6906

      Because she likes power positions shot from below so it makes her look taller and longer legs, also she uses a lot of lines in her composition so it makes sense to use them in composition to drive the attention towards the model

    Do you ever mix natural and continuous lights for control but with a more natural feel? I’d love to see how you work with that.

    • @Chris-ey7zy
      @Chris-ey7zy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Would have to have super strong continuous light

    What lens is she using? Pictures look like 24 or 35

    When you shoot in open sunlight you may set your exposure settings at home, using the rule of Sunny 16. If you want to measure your exposure values on location, you use spot-metering of the white dress and use the idea of ETTR. You don't want to burn her dress, like now, which is important for many women. It is useless to list exposure values without telling your criterions.

    Is no one going to talk about the dirty sensor? Lol. It looks like there is a hair on it.

    The Thumbnail...
    Her nose says it's 3 o'clock.
    Maybe learn how not to use light first, before going outside?
