You’re applying at two of the most competitive universities in the Philippines. Give the other colleges a shot. Don’t limit yourself to just those two.

Try enrolling at UP Baguio. Nearest international airport is clark. Then, try to explore northern Philippines. Ilocos, cordillera, cagayan and batanes.
I also suggested that to her. But as she had said at the end of her video, it was very stressful for her and she already decided not to pursue it any longer. Maybe if a PH university offers her a scholarship or offer of admission,,she might change her mind.
I failed UP Diliman but got into UP Los Banos. Then after a year, I transferred to Diliman again. Don't lose hope because your UPG may still be within their cutoffs. You can appeal to other UP campuses. It's all the same. All have high standards. It's not yet goodbye :)
Did you know that Harry Potter got rejected like 12 times before a publisher accepted that masterpiece. Stay positive. Everything will workout Jessica 🙏🙏
UP has a lot of "branches" - UPD, UPM, UPLB, UPB and etc. They have different grade requirements. If u applied for UPD, I think they have the highest grade requirements amongst all.
@@s.t.santos5928 kinda However, all UP courses are quota courses since it caters a limited amount of slots. Also, if you don’t pass the campus UPG, you won’t be assessed on your courses (confirmed by Office of University Registrar of UPD)
1. There are ways to still get accepted in UP such as trying a different course. 2. There are a lot more universities in the Philippines that you can try. All offering different specialty. All having high standards. 3. There are International Schools in the Philippines as well. 4. Apply for a reconsideration in Ateneo. If you are already giving up because you got rejected in UP and Ateneo then that is just sad. Failures will always be part of our lives. Try and dont lose hope.
@teslagod2003 erm NO. You can easily get into UP by choosing a non-quota course. UP offers a lot of courses that does not require you to be a top class academic student.
Jessica, there are still many other well known Universities in here in the Philippines like UST, UE, LaSalle University, St Scholastica ,etc. Don't be discouraged . Try applying in other Universities. You are a very talented person. Keep trying. Don't give up so soon.
@teslagod2003 true true. I was thinking she'd do very well in Silliman. Maganda quality ng education, maganda din ang location. I hope she considers the school kase maraming Koreans din nag-aaral dun. But of course, there are other top notch schools din sa Luzon kung dun preference nya. I hope she reconsiders her options
@jessica lee: We need to destroy the idea that there's an expectation to do things at a certain age. You dont have to be married with kids at 25. Its okay to not have your dream job at 30 or not to have graduated by 22. Life is neither a race nor a competition - Lynsey Frazer dont give up jessica. keep moving forward because yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery worth unravelling.
Even though there's no UPCAT this year, the selection process was really tough. My niece who is a top student with good grades also did not get accepted, though she has an opportunity to appeal because her UPG technically allows her into 2 campuses, just not her first choice of campus and course. All I'm saying is, it's not because you aren't qualified, the competition really is just so tough this year. Glad you're maintaining a positive outlook still, keep moving forward! You have an audience that will continue to support you. Can't wait to see what you'll be doing next :)
there's a workaround: you could still apply for admission to the UP Diliman Certificate of Fine Arts (Visual Communication) program. It does not require UPCAT, but there's a talent determination test. If things go well in terms of grades, you could then continue to the Bachelor of Fine Arts program or to another course. You could also try to transfer to the Ateneo BFA (transfees have different requirements from high school graduates). UP Baguio also has Certificate if Fine Arts -- a stepoing stone to UP Diliman Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Even us students here in the Philippines failed to pass.. We just need to try and try until we found the right University for us.. God has plans.. Hopefully you'll be able to find the right University for you.. We love you Jessica! I'll continue watching your Videos/Vlogs ❤️😊
I used to have a professor that once taught me a lesson about buying a pair of shoes... If you found a really good shoes that you liked in a department store or any store, don't buy it just yet... Be patient, and try investing some more. If you go back to the department store and the shoes is still there, then its meant for you. If its no longer there, then that means that there's an even better product for you... Metaphorically, never give up. Don't lose hope. There's plenty of good universities out there. There's always an oppurtunity... God will never put you in a situation where he knows you can't handle, rather put you somewhere you fit the most: Less stress, less negativity~
There is a formula to pass the UPCAT. It depends on your class ranking and how confident you are in passing the tests. I believe the result is right minus wrong, so if you are unsure, leave the answer blank. The highest quota is for Manila and Diliman. Likewise, choose non-quota courses You can opt for the other campuses first and then eventually transfer once you meet the grade requirements. The trick is to find the path of least resistance.
@@arkonarcaxe1808 i c. I wasn't aware there were some changes. My nephew has started his review for UPCAT next year so i thought it's still the same. We didn't take reviews during my time but we were made aware of the quota requirements and right minus wrong by our teachers for leverage. I heard UPD has become very competitive so my nephew joined review classes in prep, even if he is studying at a science high school. Don't lose hope. Try other campuses first, and apply to a non-quota course
I also felt sad when she open the email. I feel her emotions but even so this doesn't measure your capabilities there is a reason for everything you might not realise it now but you will after something good opportunity comes. We love you !
They only have limited slots, that's why even good students don't always get in. Your options should be: 1. Apply to a Korean uni 2. Apply to other Philippine universities 3. Try to get work. It's difficult to travel at this time anyway because of Covid. The disadvantage is it's difficult to make content about the Phil's if you're not there. Vloggers who stayed here like George and Lucy (The Juicy Vlog) and Kristypata managed to do it even with Covid. Get a hug from Sylvia and eat some ice cream, you'd feel better.

She has a reason not to apply at DLSU she studied high school there. The fact she's not considering that school maybe because it's not an option or she has her reason not to.. UST though is a good school, that's where I studied college and there are lots of Koreans that study there too even now
@teslagod2003 looks like you’re a hater of DLSU lol. There are students who got kicked out of DLSU because they have failing grades even though they’re crazy rich.
Looking back at the time I applied, I realized there were several ways I could have gone into uni of choice in the Philippines. 1st, do not choose a quota course for obvious reasons that it can be very competitive. One friend was smart enough to choose one of the least competitive courses like tourism. Most subjects taken during the first year for all courses are often the same. After the first year, it is easier to SHIFT courses which my friend did. That's one way to get into the school of choice. The other is to enter another school and keep an above average quotient. Then shift after a year to the school of first choice. Another way is to enter as a scholar, athletes or dance, or other groups look out for talents and can help in your application.
True. I passed BA History at UP Visayas but later on shifted to BS Management since there is available slot that time. It’s better to enroll in non-quota course for a higher possibility of admission.
To Jessica: the lesson that you learn on this is acceptance. Everything may not go as planned but we still have to enjoy our time. I never have an opportunity to go to college but people who works for me now is actually graduate from those 2 schools you've mentioned. My friend also didn’t pass the ateneo exam last yr but she managed to submit a reconsideration letter and got accepted!! Maybe you could try submitting one as well. There might be a chance 🤗
I have a sibling who used to go to UP Diliman. I never knew her whole story but I know she went through 'hell'. Her experiences scarred her self-esteem and she had to go through psychological treatments. Now, fortunately, she is doing well in a different university and even started a business of her own. Hi, Jessica! I'm a UP Student and I know some lower batch students who are bright and talented that did not get in. The acceptance rate for UP is less than 15%, which is really stiff and only 3-4% for Diliman Campus. Don't be too hard on yourself.
If you really want to be admitted in UP, you can transfer after taking at least a year worth of units from other university, and aim for a GWA of at least 2.0. I did that, and four years after my UP transfer, graduated with honors.
Why not try Silliman U in Dumaguete City? There are lots of Koreans studying there as well... besides the place is friendly to foreigners.. with so many beautiful places you can vlog about
I was thinking the same thing. Maganda ang Silliman, both quality ng school and location. I fell in love with the school when I visited a few years ago
UST is a good option, my guess right now is UP is prioritizing the locals because of the pandemic. You are not alone some local achievers did not get in. Some say they are also looking into backgrounds and personalities of the applicants, dunno the rest.
This is really brave of you to share. Your maturity and courage is frankly admirable. Im sorry for the disappointment you must be feeling. This does not reflect or define your intelligence, your aptitude or skills. Also Im sorry for the stupid and insensitive comments I read. So many people forget to use their brains before they write stuff online. Empathy or EQ is considerably low for some people its annoying. Sit with the feeling, cry, shout is out, then dust it off. I think she also considered the world ranking of the schools where she applied. 6 schools in SKorea is in the top100. Our best school in the country accdg to rank is only on the 399th place (UP). World Uni ranking is important esp in international employability.

I think the reason why it is hard to apply in UP right now is because they change their application this pandemic, instead of having the examination or the UP-CAT they only sum up your grades from grade 8 to grade 11.

I used to see schools as a sign of prestige. I always want to be part of that “smart, rich Asian” trope although I’m not smart and we’re just upper lower class at that time. That’s why I applied in UP and UST. Of course I failed and ended up taking nursing in FEU. I felt really sad because I didn’t become what I wanted to be. I also applied for UP this year and I still vividly remember how my whole hand was shaking when I was checking the results. As soon as I woke up, checking the results was the first thing that I did and then I saw that I didn't passed. I mentally prepared myself about the results for the UPCA, because I know how hard it is to pass, but upon seeing the results I still cried. I tried to hide in the bathroom after it so my mom wouldn't see me cry but she still felt that something was wrong so she followed me . I remember crying in her arms without saying anything but I guess she knows it already even if I don't tell her. She comforted me and she said something that was stuck in my mind. She said that "This is not the end of your dreams.". I actually cried again after seeing you cry (We actually have the same UPG so I guess we're bound to have the same fate😆). UP was my dream university ever since I was a child and it hurts knowing that I can't fulfill that dream anymore. However, I'm still thankful that I had the opportunity to apply. Also, I'm very proud of everyone for trying even though the results are uncertain. Thank you for sharing this video to us and I hope that you keep on pursuing the things that you dreamed of.

She even went to other province and stay there for almost 1 month because they offer a HIGH QUALITY review and for preparing at the entarance exam but at the end my sister failed. And she was crying because of the pressure from our family (she is the oldest daughter), from the people around us (ever since elementary up to high school she's always in first section and she's top 1 or 2 in their class), and the likes. I just want to share this😄
I relate with you with having a structure with what I want to do or just, planning my future in general. Back in 2018, I was so ready to send my application for UP, since it has always been my dream school as a young kid but it ended up in failure (with me not being able to process my application entirely because of personal reasons) and of course, I was heartbroken but I decided to try out other schools and forget about UP and now, I'm an incoming Pharmacy freshman from a De La Salle Institute here in a nearby city! Here in the Philippines, the college entrance exams are tough. I had a friend who took extrance exam to 6 schools, and she failed 5 of her top university.

UP has a lot of "branches" - UPD, UPM, UPLB, UPB and etc. They have different grade requirements. If u applied for UPD, I think they have the highest grade requirements amongst all.
I think hers was a case of being cut off from quota?
@@kelvs45 not necessarily. That's a defeatist attitude. Just review again and try at least

2. There are a lot more universities in the Philippines that you can try. All offering different specialty. All having high standards.

@teslagod2003 erm NO. You can easily get into UP by choosing a non-quota course. UP offers a lot of courses that does not require you to be a top class academic student.

dont give up jessica. keep moving forward because yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery worth unravelling.
Can't wait to see what you'll be doing next :)
there's a workaround:
you could still apply for admission to the UP Diliman Certificate of Fine Arts (Visual Communication) program.
May i ask how or what’s the process of admission? Thank youu

I failed UP entrance exam too. Don't worry, you'll be fine. There are a lot of schools around. :)
Me too :(
There is a formula to pass the UPCAT.

It means learning's in real life is a hack that you'll never learn from school... That's only imfao

(I'm not trying to badmouth UPD because I actually go there now but..) what I'm trying to say is maybe this is fate's way of making you dodge a bullet.

Not just in Manila consider other Universities in Cebu City or others Manila is not just Philippines, Philippines is not Manila
She already studied there when she was a in High School I think she was a different one
I think she also considered the world ranking of the schools where she applied. 6 schools in SKorea is in the top100. Our best school in the country accdg to rank is only on the 399th place (UP). World Uni ranking is important esp in international employability.
@@engelbertsyperillo if she is looking for that, in the first place she should not have applied to any PH universities, I could say best decision if she's aftering the ranking take exams to the top 10 world UNI instead.

That's God's way of saying "look else where, those schools are not for you".
I think the reason why it is hard to apply in UP right now is because they change their application this pandemic, instead of having the examination or the UP-CAT they only sum up your grades from grade 8 to grade 11.

When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

When we might have won had we stuck it out.

You can never tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit -
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

@Jessica Lee, try sending your application to Silliman University in Dumaguete City. The University is like the equivalent of La Salle , Ateneo in Manila
. There are many Koreans studying ang living their too.
If you're reading this stay safe and healthy. God bless to your family
There are so many good universities in the Philippines.
The University here also rejected me way back 2019. Fortunately, I passed this year. Don't lose hope Ate. Love youu
Theres still NU FEU, heck a lot of Up branches maybe able to reconsider ur application.
I'm also not accepted in UP and I also truly believe that everything happens for a reason.
Also note that if you’re applying for a popular course then definitely the competition is tough. You can always select a less popular course just to get admitted and then shift to your preferred course after the first term or so.
Jessica is a smart person. i dont get it why they rejected her. she's way smarter than others who are currently enrolled or even graduated from that school. SMH.
well to be objective.. it's most likely because there are tons more students who have higher grades and higher stats
If not mistaken sa GPA nag based ang UP ngayon, yung pinsan ko na galing Pisay di rin natangap at madami rin daw sa batch nila ang di natangap .
I think she said it before in the vlog. She had a (average) grades cuz she was studying in Philippines. And we all know that those university are very very high standard.
@Alaya typical dds yan NPA agad aang nasa Isip
@@MercyMeTV dds ka boi HAHAHAHAHA
I feel you, Jessica. This happened to me not too long ago and it felt like my whole world crumbled. Me and my friend worked hard just to get accepted to our dream school, she got in of course but I didn't. I just want you to know that you're not alone and you'll get through it in no time. You can do so much more. Hoping for the best!
Easier to shift to UP than go through the UPCA or UPCAT
Its fine miss Jessica, just try to apply to other schools, we will support you no matter what
UP and Ateneo are not the only better shools . We have Dela Salle, UST, Silliman University, University of Baguio. You just need to exhaust your means😊
Saint Louis University Baguio, FEU, CEU, etc etc ..
Yes i agree and baguio is one of a perfect place for studies the atmosphere and everything thanks why there are lots of schools in baguio you try to go baguio then try to enroll in UP baguio while you were there it is more easier access when you are already here
Aw, Jessica...you are a very beautiful and talented person. Maybe if you were to consider trying some other schools in the PH for college you could try SISFU, MAPUA, UST, De La Salle, FEU, UP Baguio, or UAP. UP and Ateneo may have not been for you, but there are many other prestigious schools like the ones mentioned above definitely could. Stay bright and beautiful, Jessica! We got you. 😊❣️✨👏

Don't loose hope. We have lots of good universities in the Philippines. Keep believing in your self. Always think positive. Fighting!! 😉😉😊😊
Don't lose hope.
Everything happens for a reason. (maybe there's a big opportunity for you)
Just pursue your dream and someday, you will succeed.

Hi Jessica, I'm sorry and felt bad about your situation. And your right everything happens for a reason. This is just a temporary setback and things will fall in the right place. Hope you'll consider applying to other colleges and universities. Try UP or Saint Louis University (my Alma Mater) in Baguio City. SLU is one of the best schools in the country and have produced a lot of board top-notchers over the years. Plus you'll love the climate and vegetables especially.
People who have the courage to let literally the whole world know they failed, are really respectable.
100% Admirable.
"Never expect, never assume, Never ask, never demand. Just let it be, if it's meant to be, it will happen". I literally lock my room while watching this vlog. I cried also when you cried LOL. HAHA Cheer up Jessica! We will wait to see you again here in the Philippines. Philippines miss you a lot! I am looking forward to see you soonest.
I sent to St.Scholastica’s College, Manila. I reside in Denmark now and thankful of my College.
