    there's a workaround:
you could still apply for admission to the UP Diliman Certificate of Fine Arts (Visual Communication) program. It does not require UPCAT, but there's a talent determination test. If things go well in terms of grades, you could then continue to the Bachelor of Fine Arts program or to another course. You could also try to transfer to the Ateneo BFA (transfees have different requirements from high school graduates).
UP Baguio also has Certificate if Fine Arts -- a stepoing stone to UP Diliman Bachelor of Fine Arts.

My niece who is a top student with good grades also did not get accepted, though she has an opportunity to appeal because her UPG technically allows her into 2 campuses, just not her first choice of campus and course. There is a formula to pass the UPCAT. It depends on your class ranking and how confident you are in passing the tests. I believe the result is right minus wrong, so if you are unsure, leave the answer blank. The highest quota is for Manila and Diliman. Likewise, choose non-quota courses You can opt for the other campuses first and then eventually transfer once you meet the grade requirements. The trick is to find the path of least resistance.

Looking back at the time I applied, I realized there were several ways I could have gone into uni of choice in the Philippines. 1st, do not choose a quota course for obvious reasons that it can be very competitive. One friend was smart enough to choose one of the least competitive courses like tourism. Most subjects taken during the first year for all courses are often the same. After the first year, it is easier to SHIFT courses which my friend did. That's one way to get into the school of choice. The other is to enter another school and keep an above average quotient. Then shift after a year to the school of first choice. Another way is to enter as a scholar, athletes or dance, or other groups look out for talents and can help in your application.

I used to have a professor that once taught me a lesson about buying a pair of shoes... If you found a really good shoes that you liked in a department store or any store, don't buy it just yet... Be patient, and try investing some more. If you go back to the department store and the shoes is still there, then its meant for you. If its no longer there, then that means that there's an even better product for you...
Metaphorically, never give up. Don't lose hope. There's plenty of good universities out there. There's always an oppurtunity... God will never put you in a situation where he knows you can't handle, rather put you somewhere you fit the most: Less stress, less negativity~

They only have limited slots, that's why even good students don't always get in. Your options should be: 1. Apply to a Korean uni 2. Apply to other Philippine universities 3. Try to get work. It's difficult to travel at this time anyway because of Covid. The disadvantage is it's difficult to make content about the Phil's if you're not there. Back in 2018, I was so ready to send my application for UP, since it has always been my dream school as a young kid but it ended up in failure (with me not being able to process my application entirely because of personal reasons) and of course, I was heartbroken but I decided to try out other schools and forget about UP and now, I'm an incoming Pharmacy freshman from a De La Salle Institute here in a nearby city! It's hard when the things we planned for don't go the way we want it but there are other options we can always opt for. Regardless though, I wish you the best! 😊💗

That’s why I applied in UP and UST. Of course I failed and ended up taking nursing in FEU. I felt really sad because I didn’t become what I wanted to be. As years passed, I’m thankful I studied in FEU. The school released my full potential and the courage in life that I didn’t know I have. I also applied for UP this year and I still vividly remember how my whole hand was shaking when I was checking the results. As soon as I woke up, checking the results was the first thing that I did and then I saw that I didn't passed. I mentally prepared myself about the results for the UPCA, because I know how hard it is to pass, but upon seeing the results I still cried. I tried to hide in the bathroom after it so my mom wouldn't see me cry but she still felt that something was wrong so she followed me . I remember crying in her arms without saying anything but I guess she knows it already even if I don't tell her. She comforted me and she said something that was stuck in my mind. She said that "This is not the end of your dreams.". I actually cried again after seeing you cry (We actually have the same UPG so I guess we're bound to have the same fate😆). UP was my dream university ever since I was a child and it hurts knowing that I can't fulfill that dream anymore. However, I'm still thankful that I had the opportunity to apply. Also, I'm very proud of everyone for trying even though the results are uncertain. Thank you for sharing this video to us and I hope that you keep on pursuing the things that you dreamed of.

    “Don’t Quit”
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low but the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
    And many failures turn about
When we might have won had we stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
You can never tell how close you are,
    It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit -
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

I feel you, I know what you're going through. I was an accountancy student till the first term of my second year college but I got redirected so yeah you're right about everything happens for a reason.

Aw, Jessica...you are a very beautiful and talented person. Maybe if you were to consider trying some other schools in the PH for college you could try SISFU, MAPUA, UST, De La Salle, FEU, UP Baguio, or UAP. UP and Ateneo may have not been for you, but there are many other prestigious schools like the ones mentioned above definitely could. Stay bright and beautiful, Jessica! We got you. 😊❣️✨👏

It's really difficult to get admission to the top 2 schools in the country. Even our class valedictorian in high school didnt even make it to UP and Ateneo. Surprisingly, some of my classmates (not in the honor roll) in highschool passed the UPCAT and ACET.

It's extremely difficult to get into your dream school. I, myself didn't get into the university that I have been dreaming of of getting into since I was little. Both pamantasan ng lungsod ng maynila and University Of the Philippines rejected my application because of solely reviewing my grades in my previous grade level. With that being said, if only there's no COVID-19 and each universities were able to conduct their entrance exams, would the results change? because I know myself that I can ace those university entrance exams but due to the pandemic they weren't able to conduct it. 'twas really a disheartening and painful experience.

Just like you I also decided not to go to school last school year btw I am supposedly an incoming 1st year college. But I think last year is not meant for me. There's alot of things that made me to consider to stop. Like I know that I needto fix myself and my plan especially that my future depends on it. But right now I'm already enrolled on one of my dream university. During that one year that I decided to stop I learned a lot and got to experience new things that made a big impact to me right now. Just like you before I am very uncertain to my future but here I am, I'm happy and excited.
Education is not a race but a journey we need to enjoy. I am hoping that next year we will get to see your video entering your dream university.

My niece ended up in UST when she failed UPCAT. She attended two semesters there and transferred to UP Diliman. Had to go into a non-quota course though. But once she was in, it was easy to change courses. She studied her butt off to get in the quota course. But that was a long time ago. Don’t know if you could still do that. Widen your horizons, UP and AdMU are not the only universities. There are others that are way better. Goodluck!

ateneo is, yeah. it's like applying for a doctorate. for UP, you have tons and tons of competition.
why not try de la salle or ust or solaiman in cebu?

Also note that if you’re applying for a popular course then definitely the competition is tough. You can always select a less popular course just to get admitted and then shift to your preferred course after the first term or so.

I qualified in UP but chose to go to University of St La Salle - Bacolod. City of Smiles and you'd fit right in. These days you have access to knowledge regardless of which University you go to. I consider myself successful in my career working alongside peers MIT, Stanford etc and never regretted my choice of University. A lot of the smartest people I know did not come from UP or Ateneo or UST or DLSU. Wish you the best on your next decisions to make.

its ok not to be okey... i feel you... I also failed during my UP college application. All I did was to be the best i could be and enrolled at a catholic university in our province and surprisingly in 2006 i took my master's degree at UP graduate school. Unfortunately i wasnt able to finish it yet because of conflicting work schedule and hopefully finish it in the future :) I really love UP and hope to be back there soon.
