    After my previous Jaguar ... I find the XC40 almost as comfortable (very small difference) .. but the build quality and Tech is far better. I like the simplicity of the Volvo and Google integration - you get good mapping and features that are an extra cost/subscription elsewhere. The Google voice control is the best and great for controlling the vehicle without distracting and diving into screen menus. Higher ground clearance and square profile will increase power consumption .. but the Sunday Driving test is closer to my normal driving in UK with road conditions and traffic (rather than blasting on lengthy test runs). Obtaining an EV is not just down to the promises of the manufacturers but also what you want it for and what is actually available in the market without a big wait time or reduced features. Mine came up on our Work Lease scheme with just 3 week wait and very reasonable monthly cost. In 47 years of driving, I never thought I'd select a Volvo ... but have been very surprised and very pleased with the XC40 as an excellent all round car.

    Yep, you've got trigger finger. Inflammation of the tendon in your finger as it slides through a protective sheath. You can get an injection into the tendon to reduce the inflammation, but it doesn't last forever.

    ABC - always be _charging_ .. in this sense the accelleration test to 200kmh would indeed have been very interesting too with the xc40. :) That was the first ever empty road I saw in Bangkok.

      Especially interesting since it's limited to 180km/h top speed, at least the one I tested was.

      Considering that all Volvos are limited to 180 kmh, it probably wouldn't be that interesting.

    XC40 can save electricity if you drive slowly enough LOL

    • @SteveLoughran
      @SteveLoughran ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What you get with a vehicle with Cd=0.33; its efficiency collapses at speed. So in a model with a big enough battery to make fast drives viable, the range at slower speeds really does well. I'd love to seem some graphs of speed*range for different vehicles here...

  • @ytl6674
    @ytl6674 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How can you drive so efficiently? The best result of my awd polestar 2 is 15.5/100km. you drive with constant speed?

    • @larsenpetter
      @larsenpetter ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This is his Sunday driving test. It is not driven at constant speed, it is not driven fast either, just following traffic and drive around. He has different range test, like in constant 90 km/h and in constant 120 km/h. Then you get much higher consumption and less range.

    It is about time the regulators start to differentiate between EVs based on consumption. Not every EV should automatically get an A label. The Model Y RWD handsomely beating this car, even with a 25% smaller battery proves that not all EVs are the same.

    • @dingdong2103
      @dingdong2103 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      The model Y is a rattling plastick bucket, it lacks sound proofing and comfort. Who would want to drive a car like that?

    • @dingdong2103
      @dingdong2103 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@muramarco01 No it's not. The build quality is sub-par and the car literally sucks in winter use. Doors won't open, heater malfunctions (fun at -20F eh?) etc.

    • @SteveLoughran

      If you look at cost/km then that information is visible. One really radical idea would be to tax EVs based on weight -that way a 2400kg XC40 would be billed more than a 2000kg Tesla y, which itself would be taxed more than a 1800kg ID.3. It's vehicle weight which does the most damage to roads (some m^2 equation) and, in a crash, to people (m*v^2). Tax-by-weight makes it clearer who is trying to overcome inefficiencies by adding more battery. Apparently France is looking at a weight based car tax - but not including EVs -which, if true, makes it more of an SUV tax

    • @razvanlex
      @razvanlex ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SteveLoughran Then you should buy a Dacia Spring? In a crash you would not damage anyone but yourself. The weight of the car is not the same as the weight of the batteries. A mild hibrid XC60 is 2.100 kg and has a very small 48V battery. A diesel XC 40 is 1.835 kg.
