Clive Merrison and Andrew Sachs the best two renditions. The acting the sounds the era recreated to perfection. I’ve loved Sherlock Holmes all my life but these performances take me to another time and place. Beautiful ❤❤
I listen to Sherlock Holmes stories almost daily. Your stories and Magpie audio are the best. I haven't listened to them all yet. I'll be sad when I get to the end
First transmitted 13 February 2002, this story is based on a reference from Doyle's short story "The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist" - "He was immersed at the moment in a very abstruse and complicated problem concerning the peculiar persecution to which John Vincent Harden, the well-known tobacco millionaire, had been subjected."
I love the stories and the actors...but I really do have trouble telling which one is Sherlock and which is Watson. Especially the beginning of this episode.
Yeah. Bert Coules gets it. :) Another personal favourite of mine is the Unopened Casebook series by John Taylor, with Simon Callow as Sherlock Holmes and Nicky Henson as Dr Watson. Although, I first heard them as a kid, and now I recognise that they were perhaps more marketed at a younger audience, and hence they're a bit over the top at times. Still, it's an entertaining listen and available on audible if you've not heard it before. But this series The Further Adventures is an absolute classic. :)

I have to disagree and say that Clive Merrison and Michael Williams were the best, but Andrew was a very good replacement. :)
Yes I agree. Andrew was an excellent drama and comedy actor and also a very good narrator. 👍
“..and featuring Jane Asher as Mrs. Harden.”
Marvelous 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
A well-written story in the 'non-canon' Holmes series - better than many others, in fact. Well produced and acted.
Can't get enough

these are all BBC radio dramas, not created by this channel.
Great story and actors.
Very Doylesian.

This kept me guessing right to the very end. Great storyline. Thanks "GWE" 🤔

Enjoyed that, thanks.
Awesome. Thank you
That Welsh character was a bit fiery! Reminds me of my father.
A good story overall, Andrew Sachs is an effective Dr. Watson.
The revelation certainly reminds me a lot of _The Captain's Paradise_ starring Alec Guinness.

dullard.
I'm very picky with the many Sherlock Holmes audio-And these I enjoyed! Thank you!

Is the lady Jane Asher the lady who was engaged to Paul McCartney? 😅
Yes.
