Interesting...I got my Master System in 1986 (along with my Nes) and played it until I got my Genesis in 1989. I knew two others that had a Master System as well and I have never seen a blue tab before. However, I have seen all while tabs with a black grid before. I believe one was Star Wars and the other...Chess. It's also possible that I saw a Spy vs. Spy cart like that as well but of that I'm not 100% on. My Spy vs. Spy was on a Sega Card. Addendum- Golden Axe Warriors should have been ported to the Genesis. Subbed.
I always enjoy hearing people's journeys with video game consoles. You got the Master System early! I think you're right, I've seen a few white labels too.. I wonder if they are pricey? Out of about 100 kids in my school grade I was the only one who had a Master System so it was all I knew for a long time. Thanks for watching and subbing, it's always nice to meet more SMS fans!
Some of these games are cheap if you don't get the US release. But some other SMS games that are too expensive in ANY region are Power Strike II, Buggy Run, Smurfs 2, Masters of Combat.
Is it worth it to buy a Master System? Most of the games I've seen for it look okay but I haven't seen enough games that look good enough to make the console worth my money.
I personally enjoy the SMS. You can probably get the console for $75-$100 and most games are cheap like $5-$20. If you enjoy collecting and can afford it, definitely give it a shot. I have a video that I did with MyLifeInGaming on my channel that is close to 40K in views that discusses 10 must-own Master System Games, and almost all of them are very affordable if you're interested in learning about the best games for the console.
I was an NES kid, so I haven't played these... looks like I missed my window of opportunity, as I'm not paying those prices O_o haha I did play some Asterix & Obelix, but that was on a computer. I don't really remember what game it was though. Whoa, Golden Axe Warrior definitely has some strong Zelda vibes! Mahjong?!? Whoa! I can't believe rarity is such a powerful price driving force! $1,300?!? Holy Crap! Some 80s kid is gonna call his mom now and chew him out for throwing away his old cartridges. P.S. I bought an N64 cartridge from a guy once who had a garage full of, shall we say, interesting and very diverse items. He also happened to be wearing his TSA garb still. So be sure not check any of these expensive games in a luggage case with you when you travel, or some sketchy TSA agent might swipe it and sell it out of his garage. Carry on only!
LOL Don't sweat it, I do recommend playing the SMS library at some point, but perhaps through emulation. Asterix and Obelix I've never played but that series is very popular in the UK. Golden Axe Warrior definitely has Zelda vibes but fortunately it's a very good game. I'll stick with my free Mah-Jong web browser game haha. I've seen the James Buster Douglas Boxing game a few times at conventions and the prices are insane. I'll never have it. Ohhh a garage sale from a TSA agent! I wonder what treasures he has pulled out from people's butts trying to smuggle things... better blow on the cart before you play it 😉
Expensive list for sure! Good thing I never owned the console, so I have no nostalgia for it because my wallet wouldn't survive 🤣! Crazy to see how Sonic looks good graphically considering it's on the Master System! Great video and keep up the good work!
I was very impressed with what they were able to do with Sonic on the SMS. It looks great and it's essentially a new game altogether with all the different levels. I only have one game from this list and it will probably stay that way haha. Thanks for watching!
They sure are! I went to Ireland in 2021 and bought about 15 Master System games there for about $100... back in the States they were worth around $350! I like PAL prices a lot better haha
It should be noted that a good chunk of these are only rare for their label or cases (Sonic US version) and are fairly cheap in other territories and considering the system only really has a few truly region locked titles, its far from as bad as other consoles rarities.(unless you want those variants and cases)
I agree that for the most part the SMS is very easy to collect for which is another great perk of it. I travelled to Europe two years ago and bought about 15 SMS games while I was there because they were so cheap compared to the versions in the U.S. Thanks for watching!
Do other channels have issues with you using their footage? I've always thought was a bit taboo? Regardless, I love the Master System, it was the no.1 console over here in England for a few years, far more popular than the NES. Lot's of shops never even stocked NES games over here!
I personally don't have the technology or capabilities to capture the footage myself so I have to do it this way. I've never had anyone contact me before, but unlike many channels both large and small that don't give credit, I *ALWAYS* make sure I give credit during the video to the channels I'm using. I personally wouldn't have a problem with it if someone used my footage as long as I got credit for it. I think it's a good way for other channels to get potential exposure too. 10MinGameplay is one of my favorite channels simply because they post so much usable footage for others. There are some channels that I watch that have 300,000 subs and they use other's footage too and give credit, so I always respect them for that. There's also a copyright defense for channels who don't want their footage used, but I've never had a strike and if I did I would remove the content out of respect for other channels. Fun question! I love the Master System so much, and I'm so jealous of all the wonderful PAL games you received.
I bought the (CIB) version of Sonic last year for €30-35, do you think it's time to sell given the prices you say??😂 by the way, I really like your Master System themed videos, congratulations
i never picked up asterix great rescue, i love shanghai for sms so mahjong JP looks sweet. have sonic for PAL, cant justify UPC sticker for the same game at 8,000x the price. and i dont have the blue label outrun. so i think i have 6 of these. if u wanna talk pricey games worldwide, basically every brazilian cardboard box game is expensive CIB. street fighter 2 i think was like $800. if ur talking PAL games, masters of combat went for like 800 a few months back. home alone i think is 4-500 CIB. im sure PAL has some other heavy hitters over 300 as well. time for a part 2
That's pretty wild how expensive SMS games can be! I definitely can put together a second video for another most valuable SMS games, thanks to your great insight!
I guess this is "The 10 MOST VALUABLE Sega Master System Games" in USA and not in PAL territories. Also James "Buster" Douglas Knockout Boxing, George Foreman's KO Boxing, Heavyweight Champ and Rocky are almost the same game with some reskins/tweaks here and there.
Yeah, there's a lot of room for more valuable games in this list. I might do a part 2 as it was fun putting this one together. Thanks for watching! It's always fun to meet more SMS fans.
@@solutionxero The U.S. versions of GAW are PAL releases with a UPC sticker stuck on the case. That little sticker is what makes them expensive for the U.S. versions. A little sticker.
I think that Mahjong is a Hong Kong release not Japan. Japanese games don't have the grid covers they come in a gold coloured box. Also did you use pricecharting because it seems like you excluded PAL games which are in a different category. There are more expensive games than those here like Buggy Run which you should have covered instead of US variants.
You would be correct on the Mahjong game, I got confused on the regions and you nailed it, I was using price charting! There is a big difference in region differences and maybe I can make a follow up video for expensive PAL region SMS games. Thanks for watching!
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames That sounds like a good follow up. There are some AUS variants like the Double Packs that are very rare and go for an absurd amount.
@TigerChainsawVideoGames I didn't even really know what I had until your video. Master System was my first console in 86 and still works. I have all NA Sega systems and portables. In the early 90s I bought quite a lot of SMS and SEGA CD . I kept all my sms games and sadly traded away a lot of my saturn and sega cd back in the day. I do have some key sega cd games like panzer dragoon saga and burning rangers, Dragon force still
huh? holy crap I have both Sonic 1 and Dick Tracey in my collection, Sonic from my childhood but I found Dick Tracey at a thrift store for around $20 NZD! (that's around $10 US) are you sure Dick Tracey is rare? :p I must of struck it lucky!
In the US it had a UPC sticker slapped on the back of the case. That's the only difference but it technically makes it another variant which collectors will pay a lot to own. 👍
Yes, you are right! That's a pricey one as well. I left a few out in hopes of perhaps doing another video with 10 more valuable SMS games. If I do, Power Strike 2 will definitely be on that list. Thanks for watching!

That's pretty wild how expensive SMS games can be! I definitely can put together a second video for another most valuable SMS games, thanks to your great insight!
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames that's what you get from marbles' dad
I guess this is "The 10 MOST VALUABLE Sega Master System Games" in USA and not in PAL territories.
Also James "Buster" Douglas Knockout Boxing, George Foreman's KO Boxing, Heavyweight Champ and Rocky are almost the same game with some reskins/tweaks here and there.
Yeah, there's a lot of room for more valuable games in this list. I might do a part 2 as it was fun putting this one together. Thanks for watching! It's always fun to meet more SMS fans.
No expensive blue labels.
Sonic and Golden Axe Warrior have a UPC sticker for the U.S. releases.
oddly GAW has a portrait manual for all releases too
@@solutionxero The U.S. versions of GAW are PAL releases with a UPC sticker stuck on the case. That little sticker is what makes them expensive for the U.S. versions. A little sticker.
That stinker sticker!
Blue Labels are cool... but not for those prices haha
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames Yeah, I'll play collect and play my red label games and be quite happy. haha
Oh man I bet that is a fortune@@goatbone
No blue labels for me but i have the red labels. I do own sonic and Golden Axe Warrior though
Whoa!! You have the North American sonic version??? That’s crazy!
I do have some key sega cd games like panzer dragoon saga and burning rangers, Dragon force still
What an incredible collection. I'm happy you've kept it all@@StevieDrawStuff
huh? holy crap I have both Sonic 1 and Dick Tracey in my collection, Sonic from my childhood but I found Dick Tracey at a thrift store for around $20 NZD! (that's around $10 US) are you sure Dick Tracey is rare? :p I must of struck it lucky!
Haha, well the Sonic game is very expensive if it's the USA UPC sticker one! But, Dick Tracey is very valuable in the US! Thanks for watching!
Why is Sonic so expensive? I just got one in the UK for £12.
In the US it had a UPC sticker slapped on the back of the case. That's the only difference but it technically makes it another variant which collectors will pay a lot to own. 👍
@@8BitBoyUK yup, the big deal is about the UPC sitcker. And Sonic isn't the only one GAW, Strider, and Spiderman have them as well.
@@8BitBoyUK Thanks bud.
$30 in Aus?!
@@benjaminshiels1824 yeah, better off getting a PAL version and saving yourself a lot of money.
Power Strike 2?
Yes, you are right! That's a pricey one as well. I left a few out in hopes of perhaps doing another video with 10 more valuable SMS games. If I do, Power Strike 2 will definitely be on that list. Thanks for watching!
Power strike II ????
Yes, you are right! That's a pricey one as well. I left a few out in hopes of perhaps doing another video with 10 more valuable SMS games. If I do, Power Strike 2 will definitely be on that list. Thanks for watching!
I love mah jong but that's stupid crazy price and that game is a total Zelda ripoff lol. Crazy how the SMS has gained so much popularity and gone up in price. $700 for sonic?! Yea no thanks
I used to play Mah Jong on the computer a lot growing up. It was relaxing and passed the time. Golden Axe Warrior is a blatant Zelda rip off haha. I'd love to own Sonic but not for that price!
The only 2on the list I don't own are mah Jong and Buster Douglas boxing
Whoa! You’re sitting on a fortune then. Super cool to hear you have so many of the big ones already. Think you’ll try and get the other two?
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames nah I won't get the other 2 but the ones I have are pal and I got them as a kid and ain't that expensive here in Australia
the prices that these games go for sure makes me gale emulation is a thing
I agree, I'm a big collector, but there are simply some games I can't afford. It's nice that emulation gives us an option to experience these games. Thanks for watching!
