Thank you SO much for making this series. I bought the roly puppet pattern (along with a few others from the site) a while ago but never really got the chance / took the chance to try to make the puppet. With this becoming available I am ready to give it another try, especially with the summer coming. I'm looking forward to part 2!
Do you you can clean contact cement with butter? It works great and better than oil! Your videos are great! I just started building puppets a few months ago and I am hooked! And Projectpuppet are awesome! Very helpfull people!
I have no ties to the Project Puppet Company- nor do I profit from mentioning them or the selling of patterns. I made this series to help answer some questions I constantly got in regards to puppet building and used the Project Puppet pattern as a stepping stone. There are many free patterns online that you can Google, find and then hopefully use some of the techniques I show to build.
great and actually just from experiences I would say to any first time builders use a sewing machine your puppet will look better and be more durable and make the process less time consuming
Wow.. this is going to be difficult.. but I'm going to try it! I want my own home-made puppet! I just hope I can find the right supplies since I live in Holland, and everything is named different here.. Wish me luck!
Lol, I have the Jim Henson: The Works book. Read it in like 2-3 days. XD Probably would've gone through it faster if it wasn't for school. Thank you, this helps a lot.
@ParaPerception I think $20 for a puppet pattern is pretty respectable. You don't have to use the pattern I mention in the video. I recommend checking on the internet for other free patterns and use them.
awww come on! i thought it would be not that expensive! sorry for being oscar the grouch right now, but i have a very VERY low budget. thanks for making the video though. it did give me ideas on how to make my puppet.
Yes, I recommend purchasing Play Soups Video Series on puppet building from scratch. I loved these videos starting out and they tech you great fundamentals.
For the Green Monster I used a fur that is called Straight Poodle Fur- at least that's what was on the tag when I bought it. The purple fur was called Purple Shag and it was 1.5" in height. I purchased both furs at Fabricland here in Canada. In the US a good resource is Mendels.com- they will send you samples as well. Synthetic furs can't be dyed to my knowledge- you have to go real furs or hair for that.
@ParaPerception I'm just being honest as to the cost- it can be lower in price- just depends on what you are building and the materials available to you from the get go.
@lurxtlifeson I got the foam from a company here in Canada- if you live here in Canada I can provide you a number. If you are in America I suggest ordering it from Project Puppet.
Is there anyway you could send me the skin patterns for this puppet? I bought the puppet pattern but the company doesn't have the skin pattern like they do for others. Thanks!
No, Unfortunately it expired. :-( Fall and Summer sales come and go there though. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner but life is just crazy right now.
