      Like i get statute of limitations for like petty theft, minor assault (like a single punch, slap, kick, etc) or events where the damage is either nonexistent or otherwise minimal, but murder is just.... you would assume that that would have no limitations at all.

    I have been living in Japan since 1986, I remember this incident. I am pretty sure she was caught a day before the statute of limitations was up. That is what made her arrest so dramatic. Apparently, in her apartment, she had a calendar with the date (next day) circled in red and was really cocky, not trying to hide herself, thinking that she would never be caught within a day.

      @@Julia-jane Not so unusual. In the USA there’s a statute of limitations on most crimes except murder. Otherwise, it becomes a matter of diminishing returns as memories fade in the minds of potential witnesses.

      @Das Reich 2nd SS Panzer Division another channel to check out Deadbugsays. He covers alot of murders not heard of like rat man from Japan. And the cases he does that are known he adds detail that no one else has added,like Ted bundy going to the toilet by his victims after he has killed his victim.empty his bowels.the only thing is Deadbug has a bit of a dark sense of humour so if one is easily offended,then don't visit his channel.i don't mean that in a rude way.
      Dc is a brilliant channel aswell,such detail.i love all crime channels.its a crazy ole world.takecare everyone.

    I've heard this case before but I love the Scottish accent as it feels like comfort for me. It's no wonder jealousy is one of the seven deadly sins, and in this case it certainly was deadly. Great work, DC. 💜

    Atsuko's death is heartbreaking; she just wanted to help a colleague and ended up dying for it.

    This is nice changed from the usual cases you presented most are unsolved but this case has a resolution I like this change you should try presenting these kind of cases still continue the unsolved ones but also present cases with resolutions as well. Kudos and keep up the good work.

    I view this to be one of the most frightening channels on YT. It reminds me a lot of Night Gallery when I was growing up in the 1970’s. It was on TV quite late and we would try to stay up to watch it but inevitably if we managed to watch it, it was simply terrifying. This Dark Curiosities channel has the same kind of creepy weird vibe. 👹

      True. And that would be about $5,477 in USD. But, you consider inflation, and that much money in 1984 would be equal to $13,546.
      Still, not that much to start a new life with.

      Then again, if you go off of the inflation in Yen and not USD, 600,000 in 1984 is 746,020 yen in 2020. And 746,020 currently equals $6,798, which is roughly half ($25 over half.) of the amount if going off of inflation in the U.S.

    It's terrible what age combined with surgery can do to ones looks.Had she just eaten at home for the next 22 days she'd be openly free. But, I wonder if she was relieved to be caught. Being on the run had to be exhausting.

    As people now live longer and DNA matches have lately been used to identify perpetrators decades after the fact it might be time for Japan to revise that statute of limitations on murder.
