I love all your videos, but I feel THIS is where you are "in your element" - classic cocktails, history, different variations.. THIS is what makes this channel so great, because it just comes so natural to you and therefore it's also really enjoyable and rewatchable! Cheers for another awesome video!

I agree with Dimitar. I would add that there’s nothing wrong with saying you like your own version better. Obviously you should, otherwise you’d have just made it the traditional way! Always enjoy Az being awkward on camera too 😂👍

I really like that Az is incorporated and an "unbiased" or maybe "less expirenced" palet. Usually her face reaction is better than any words to describe the cocktail!
P.S. it is 2022... we all done the not change our cloths for at least a week thing

    • @huntermoliver6306
      @huntermoliver6306 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I agree, Az could come on and not say anything, but we would still be able to tell from her facial expressions what she thinks of the drink!

    • @Dr_Bombay

i agree -- it's the whole package, for sure, with the variations, the history, and the experienced tasting notes, PLUS the "person on the street" sort of perspective and description by Az. she speaks well for us all!

I can Absolutely say you have inspired me to get on a classic cocktail journey. This one is a must try. The original was made the same year my pops was born. So that adds another element of intrigue knowing this was a cocktail of that era. Also my great grandfather came in from Ireland and help do some construction in New Orleans. Cheers from Texas.

I come from a household that has specialized in making Sazeracs for friends and family for years. I've made both versions of La Louisiane now and I have to say that the original really surprised me at how much smoother and sweeter it is compared to the Sazerac. The updated version takes the cake as both I and the other half from NOLA enjoy it the most! Thanks for sharing this drink and it's history with everyone. I've yet to try it at the Carousel Bar, but I'm sure I've had a top tier version of it at home. Cheers!

Had to riff on this as you can't get Peychaud's in Norway, and went for Ango. I also didn't have Bènèdictine DOM, and used Drambuie instead. Heresy to some; a potent, tasty dessert cocktail for me. Big fan of your channel! Keep up the good work :)

I found your channel several months ago and have fallen for your teaching of how to make many of your classic cocktails but even better is your “improved “ versions such as this one. I have moved on from the Manhattan and my previous go-to, the old fashioned and have fallen in love with the revised La Louisiane! This, to me, is the perfect cocktail! Perfectly balanced. Even that little element of lemon at the end is crucial! Drinking these at happy hour all week to celebrate Duke going to Final 4 in New Orleans!
Side note- found out by accident that my neighbor here in Wake Forest NC is related to Az and relayed stories of you making cocktails at a relatives wedding in So Cal! Small world!

I always have enjoyed the "Remember the Maine" as what I'd describe to be a Manhattan meets a Sazerac. I'll have to give this one a try now since you similarly said it's a hybrid New Orleans experience!

Wonderful surprise! I am so glad I found your channel! I'm always looking for new fantastic drinks I can make occasionally. I found EH Taylor single barrel whiskey a few years ago. It was only $100 per bottle. After searching for days I found 2 bottles and bought them both.
Since it's so hard to find, I only have a shot every few months. I'll be sad when it's gone.
This cocktail looks great. Now to buy some new alcohol. Thanks.

Getting read to host a Mardi Gras cocktail hour, and just did a side-by-side of all 3 of these Louisiana cocktails, Anders style. Man. They are all so good. But I think just because of the vermouth I had on hand, this one was the winner, and what I will serve for guests when they come over. The Sazerac was almost the winner here, but something about this one... Mmmm. Yes.

First, let me say that this is my favorite TH-cam channel, and I have been recommending you to all of my cocktail loving friends. Saw this Friday and was intrigued, as I'm a huge fan of Sazerac and Vieux Carre. Have since made a few versions of the Updated recipe, and I've found that reducing the Benedictine to 1/2 oz is more to my taste. I love Benedictine, but it can overpower a cocktail IMHO. Also, I slightly prefer a less complex vermouth - Dolin or Carpano Classico. Again, I love Cocchi, but it can also dominate the cocktail. I want the rye and the absinthe/herbsaint to come through.
Thanks for introducing me to a third cocktail in the NOLA family.

    DRINK SUBMISSION
    Smoked Sand
    2 Oz Mezcal
    .75 Oz Cointreau
    .75 Oz Lemon
    .75 Oz Lime
    1 Oz Pineapple Syrup (I used a 1.5-1 for a Semi-Rich Syrup)
Combine all ingredients, shake and double strain over fresh ice into a highball glass of your choice. Garnish with pineapple or lime wheel. Adjust syrup level to you're taste this seems well balanced for me, but I prefer a tart drink. Thanks for all the videos I came up with this after watching many of yours, and trying my hand at creation with a lot of flavors I like.

This is such a "Me" cocktail. 😁 I think I will do a side by side comparison tomorrow night, just to soothe my soul. When I drink one of these great New Orleans cocktails or order/make a Manhattan or Bobby Burns, it's more than a drink. It's an experience. I definitely need to get an atomizer for my Absinthe. I love Az reaction to the cocktails.

The Sazerac is one of my all time favorite cocktails. I really do need to try this one. As much as I do enjoy trying new drinks, I loathe needing to go buy a full bottle of a spirit that I may only use one time! I need to solve that problem. Maybe I'll find other uses for benedictine.

Oh man. This is indeed the perfect marriage of Vieux Carré and Sazerac. I love this a lot! I had a small atomizer bottle from the DAYS OF HAND SANITIZER MADNESS that had never been deployed, so it was perfect for spritzing the absinthe. Also, after finally doctoring the rye bottle to finally say Ritt-----SE (RITZY BABY!) with a sharpie, the room really tied together.
And you are spot-on about the lemon oil. Absolutely perfect. I'll give the original a go when I find a stemmed thimble. :)

Dude, you might be onto something about New Orleans cocktails. I too love me a Sazerac and found this one mighty tasty too.

Hi Andres! Thanks for another great video. I'm a huge fan of the channel. Do you think Averna is a good substitute for the sweet vermouth?

Az, we dig your opinion, and love your vague discomfort in front of the camera. Great vid, gotta try both recipes.
