Awesome Video Jack.Love the GE's and their distinctive chugging sound.Honest, like the lines of the B30-7 more than the Emd Geeps.Again this footage reminds me of the good ole times.
Thanks for watching bud, and glad you enjoyed it. You can't beat the sound of those GE's working. I sure do miss seeing those old gals working their butts off on those mountain grades.
Yes they are Spacelander. CSX used they high HP GE's on the trailer trains over the mountains of Sand Patch grade, where they did very well. Thanks for watching.
I'm not as good at discerning GE locomotives. Those look like B30-7s -3000hp. Chessie had 64 of them and Family Lines had 17 of them. All I know is that the flared vents on the long hood suggest the B-series, but not always. I think some U-boats (U36B, for instance) did have the flared vents.
Jim. the WM bridge is about a mile east of the yard at Cumberland. The bridge has been removed a good many years ago, as was the siding to the industry. The house you see off to the right under the WM bridge, 7:36, is at the end of N Branch Rd, and as we turn to pan the train, the overpass is Pittsburgh Plate Glass Rd. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching...
I Would Love To See Part 2
i'm not a GE fan, and I like this!!!
Pretty slick, watching this old stuff. Thanks for watching...
Great footage of all that old power
Thanks Jack great footage as always.
Glad you enjoyed it Jay. There will be more coming soon, so keep an eye out. Thanks for watching...
Great video!
Thanks for watching, and glad you enjoyed it...
Now that's the way GE's are supposed to sound, not like the way this newer junk sounds.
There is NO DOUBT about it. Thanks for watching...
Gotta love that chug from old GE's
You can't beat that sound from the old GE's. Thanks for watching...
jackmp294.5™ It was a pleasure, love the old GE's just as much as Old EMD's.
Awesome video Jack!!
Epic video Jack! Awesome footage and hope to see more! I am certainly interested in more parts.
Thanks brother, keep an eye out for future projects. Hope your doing well, and God Bless...
You're welcome Jack, good to hear from you! I am doing well, and same to you!

At 8:30, that second unit was doing quite an ALCO impression.
Are they B36-7s? Those were very strong. I looked it up they are indeed B36-7s Nice

Why were these trains exclusively 4 axle units? Was it for moving lighter high priority trains over the mountain?
The good ole pollution days..I miss em..
Love to see the whole trains. All those open autoracks!
Love that chugging sound, today's GE's just don't sound the same.an era gone by that won't return.😢
I agree with you, the 7FDL was one hell of an engine, the best engine/prime mover GE ever built. The GEVO is in its shadow...

Seaboard 5800's are B36-7s
What made the 4 axle u-boats popular power on not trains....acceleration and high gearing?
It was the high HP of these 4 axle GE's on the mountain grades over Sand Patch. 3600 HP each. They hardly slowed down. LOL
The old U-Boats sound a ton better than their GM equivalents....there's still a stack of them doing good work "downunder" in NZ...
I sure do miss those old gals, They did sound great. Thanks for watching, and greetings from the States.
God is awesome
He sure is. The Great I Am is amazing... Thanks for watching.
Jtruck
More four axle GE clips would be great.
No graffiti! We had a better caliber of people back then.
