  • Taking siding at Sevier NC five EMD and one GE unit lead tonnage northbound on the former Clinchfield. A coal train lead by an SD-45 in Seaboard Coast Line paint passes on the main and includes a SD45-2 still in Clinchfield colors. The last segment shows the first train slowing to pick up orders at Spruce Pine NC and continuing on. From second generation VHS video. Thanks for watching!

    My favorite color scheme as a kid! I saw a lot of these trains in SC and FL.

      Back in the late 70s and early 80s, I would watch the trains switching at the old DeCoursey Yard in northern Kentucky. There was an odd mix of L&N, SCL, B&O, C&O, Monon, and Clinchfield power roaming the yard in the early days on CSX.
