    Fact remains : the Electrical grid (even in North America is simply Not up charging mass numbers of EV's
    In some countries( Uk, Germany) the electrical grids are on Life support as is. Mass adoption of EV's will be FAR worse for 'ecology' than fuel fired ones.

    Fast charging a battery shortens its life. But imagine charging from 20% to 80% in 15 minutes on a million miles battery !
    Battery still lasts 10 years. Perfect for renters who have no place to charge overnight. Half the USA population rents their home. The market for EVs is then bigger.
    We will have it in a few years.

    False green technologies and the dangers of Lithium-Ion batteries.
    Here are a few hints for you in return.
    Recycling doesn’t work and never has (not enough incentive for it). Make it hurt a person's wallet, and it “might” have a greater chance of success (and I do stress “might”).
    These huge lithium-ion batteries cannot be recycled. They contain almost 50 liters of slurry or emulsifier that is extremely hazardous to the environment and also causes birth defects when this mixture eventually leaches into the water tables from the many landfills in which they are invariably placed (the steel casings can be reprocessed but not the chemical). The cost of recycling these casings is also astronomically expensive and incredibly hazardous to the human body. No one knows what to do with the slurry.
    In specific relation to Tesla car batteries. Electronics and form factors constantly change (typically they become smaller, lighter, and more efficient). They are also corrected or improved for engineering issues discovered after release (battery fires, cell failures, improvements in electronics, etc…). Even if you purchased a newer vehicle without a battery, in the hope of reusing your older million-mile battery, you’d likely have difficulties adapting an older battery's form factor to a newer vehicle (it would likely have different mount points and be bulkier). As much as we claim to want reusability, societally, we never seem to follow through. Technology just evolves too quickly.
    Until they move fully to better battery technology (hopefully solid-state) this will remain a major issue (it is quite literally a race against time). This is an issue that goes far beyond Tesla. My hearing aids and watch battery are all powered by lithium-ion, as are all the batteries for the majority of electronic devices throughout the world. Eventually, they all end up in a landfill somewhere. With all this said, I do believe mankind will win this race. New, better, less hazardous, battery technologies are on the horizon, once we escape from Lithium-Ion things will improve dramatically. I'm betting on solid-state, but it could end up that we merely move to a better less dangerous chemical mix. Who knows?
    Comically, the many green crusaders never want to discuss any of this. They merely want to buy products with a green leaf slapped on them and pretend they're saving the environment while acting holier than thou.
    As a side note, I remember when many of the auto manufacturers approached the Federal government requesting they be allowed to store this chemical waste at Yuma, right alongside our nuclear waste. The AZ governor at the time (a woman whose name I cannot now recall) told them to go pound sand. I’m not sure what the end result was (I relocated). However, I have no doubt the correct people were paid off, the correct amount of bribe money was tendered and it likely happened.
    It takes the burning of more coal and oil to produce these supposed “green” technologies than any benefits we ever get out of the finalized products (but no one ever wants to admit this) however, people like to feel good about themselves by purchasing electric cars. We are still a decade away from quality non-environmentally-adverse green-leaning technologies that will be semi-comparable to the quality and heft of current fossil-fuel-based technologies.
    We should be pursuing nuclear energy, including better cleaner use of fossil fuels until advances in technology allow for better non-environmentally impacting “true green” technologies. Current and supposed “green” tech creates more pollution and environmental damage than our existing fossil-fuel-based technologies ever will. Wake up, Greta. Have a great day.

    I'm waiting for Tesla to develop a "trailer battery pack" that can hitch to the rear of the vehicle with a trailer "locking' plug.
    This plus recharging station with replacement packs.
    To do this would increase the distance without the wait for a charge...It would revolutionize cross country travel as we know it.

      Would be an awesome idea but I don't think they would because if you ever got rear-ended just think of the fire and damage it would cause. It would have to be built indestructible. Safer to just tow a trailer with a gas generator for long road trips

    It's not just the cost of a new battery when you buy the car, but any subsequent accident might lead to battery replacement, which often costs almost 45 - 50% of the cost of the car. Also repair costs (of EVs) are significantly more than ICE cars, hence most new customers (who haven't already bought EVs) are unlikely to switch anytime soon.

    • @nfzeta128
      @nfzeta128 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Repair costs for ICE cars are much more than an EV. The only way that doesn't happen is if the battery keeps failing which they don't. Even older battery tech had rare failures and with heat pumps and new tech they last the life of the car.

  • @1Quamish
    @1Quamish 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I'm intrigued by the idea of moving a higher quality battery to another vehicle or repurpose it somehow. Maybe the battery can be "leased" to bring down buyer cost of a higher quality battery. So maybe when a customer wants to "upgrade" their car they're just getting a new "shell" and the battery is on some kind of contract basis.

    It’s good marketing, but weather conditions where I live makes it nearly impossible for a daily driver to last much more than 150k. They rust out and part wear (engine and other mechanicals, suspension, etc.) makes them prohibitively expensive to own. And does anyone want to drive a 30 year old car given all the modern creature comforts?

    Haw credibility has the performance of batteries claimed by all batteries companies? Claiming 1 million miles or more on a battery, need no laboratory estimates only, this need driving the care or using the battery for 16 years as experts claim. These principles must be understand and then distributed for the public.

    If Tesla abandoned 4680 and adopted Blade battery, two things are against Tesla.
    First Tesla has to either buy it from BYD or pay the patten fees to produce it.
    It would cost Tesla more.
    Second, Tesla put a lot of money in building Giga 4680 manufacturing plants. Now those Giga supposedly profit centers become Giga cost centers.
    Not very good for Tesla.

    LFP batteries are traditionally specified for 5000-8000 cycles. CATL current high capacity LFP's are for 3000 cycles. So, this hyped million mile battery is nothing more than a step closer to typical LFP endurance.
    Typically cars are not driven million miles. Average mileage us between 10k-15k per year, depending on country. Other parts of the car typically fails on age, and it affects on the battery too, besides cycles. More important than maximum cycle life for typical consumer is probability of battery failure and also energy density, charging speed and ability to work in cold. Usually these are compromises with cycle life. Elon's robotaxies may benefit high cycle batteries, but I don't expect to see them on wide use.
    In general, this sounds bad news. More like coverup for failing with 4680. The worst part is loosing most of the battery manufacturing into China. Unless is Elon already on China's leach, it's hard to understand how he can't see the risk.

They want to keep the battery fully charged all the time. Especially as EV can be charged overnight. When you phone gets down to 23% you don't say "I'll take it to work like that and hope it doesn't go dead." You charge it up.

      That is just amazing! Could you please tell me about your Certified Financial Planner (CFP)? This year, I'm considering some financial changes.

      Yes, Andras Bohm made headlines in 2020, but I'm not sure if I can bring him up in this context. he manages my portfolio and acts as a counselor for me.

    This sounds like garbage news, are you in any way related to real tesla news or just some speculation plant? Because I want to know about tesla robots being built at the new factories in India, and will they supply the guns for when we go rockem sockem robots against the Chinese versions.
