    Crystal Watch Face was the one used in this video if case you were curious...
    Yeah, this video was created well over a year ago and... I still found it! Hooray for my memory. The watch face is called, "Crystal" and there are four different versions. Here are the easy-install steps:
    1. visit this website: apps.garmin.com/en-US/search?keyword=crystal+watch+face&device=&deviceLimit=&appType=&sort=&start=0&count=30
    2. log into your Garmin account
    3. search for "crystal watch face"
    4. choose the one you like the best, I think I used the Crystal watchface created by PixelPathos: apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/9fd04d09-8c80-4c81-9257-17cfa0f0081b
    5. click on Download and if your watch is already configured correctly with the Garmin Connect IQ Store and Wi-Fi is enabled, yes, even though you're on the website Garmin Connect IQ sends the downloaded watchface or app directly to your watch :)

    Always nice to find new little features on the Garmin watches , I love Apple but I got sick of the constant charging of the Apple watch , Garmin still needs some work but I am loving the super extended battery life and the maps features . thanks for the Review !

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Totally agree! I am SO over charging every 30 hours or every 44. The max battery life for my Apple Watch 6 over the past 11 months of testing was 44 hours and that was with a ton of DND and airplane mode. I fully charged my Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar and even with sleep tracking, 24-hour heart-rate, steps, flights of stairs, SP02 at night, around 50 notifications daily, five hours of GPS workouts weekly, yep, battery life is 15 - 17 days of ALL DAY & ALL NIGHT use. Garmin has yet to integrate SIRI or Bixby and I could care less. I would like to see Garmin finally track naps and add some better calendar options and that is about it. I really do like the advanced sleep tracking they added on the watch and inside the app earlier this year. I was sad to sell my Tactix Delta Solar; alas... if I kept all my watches I would be poor and my personal life would be too distracting. If the watch is in my home I am more likely to wear it. I wore five watches and my OURA ring to bed last night, yes, I have issues. I spoke with my college buddy that I sold the Tactix Delta too and he is very happy with is purchase.
      What is your favorite workout to track on your Garmin?

    • @GenesisReyesPhotography
      @GenesisReyesPhotography 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You don't say ! the Garmin pushed to the extreme can bit the Apple Watch battery by far and I don't even have the solar version as I really wanted the Sapphire glass . (Fenix 6x.) I am trying to figure out the workout as I would like a more simple way such as the Apple Watch, often times I just want to see how many calories I am burning, hart rate and the time I have been working out for, many times I don't have the time or energies to be pushing bottoms while I workout. if you have any tips for that I would appreciate it ! in the Apple Watch I push the work tap and its running until I stop it, I love it that way. Thanks for the replay !!!

      @@PeterHerget may I ask why you sold it? Any particular reasons against the watch?

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes and no. The main cost against the watch was the cost. Had I kept it I would not have been able to buy another gadget to test for my Social Media Realm for another two or three months. Honestly, though, I did want to keep it for it was so much fun to wear and view the data it collected. Plus, I really liked the way it looked. The all-black nylon band it comes with was comfortable to wear too. All in all it came to only the following reasons why I sold it:
      1. cost, needed the money to buy other gadgets
      2. the screen was difficult to read indoors for my eyes for some reason. I don't recall anyone else making that comment
      3. the solar charging was not that fast even when it was left in direct sunlight in battery saver mode. However, the solar polar charging for this Tactix Delta Solar and the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar was truly intended for emergency situations and to compliment the already great battery life.
      I hope that answers your questions.

    How many times you breathe during sleep? Seriously. What's the yse of that.
    It's a cool watch with some cool functions but it's an extreme overkill with tons of features that are only making it more complicated to use.

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It sure is nice to have the data there "when" or "if" you need it. The Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, and yes, even Fitbit, they all provide a plethora of data. I prefer Garmin and the Ōura Ring for how the data is organized, presented, and reported. Overkill? Yes, but it sure is fun to use a Garmin Fēnix 6X Pro Solar or the Tactix Delta Solar daily, wear it all night, track GPS workouts, and yet still only have to charge it every 11 - 30 days (depending on usage). I normally charge my Garmin Fēnix 6X about every nine days - they are smartwatch beasts!

      Yes, you can disable GPS and location when not in use. The Garmin Tactix Delta, Fenix 6, Fenix 7, Instinct, Instinct 2 series, and the Venu 2 all have the "power management" settings to boot! You can use the stock power modes or create your own to disable/enable whatever setting you want. One the fabulous features that Garmin offers it the chance to tweak and customize your wearable just as you see fit. The new Garmin UI (user interface) that came with my Fenix 7X that I am currently wearing, and testing, now has the ability to modify all settings within the Garmin app on your favorite Android or Apple smartphone - way easier & faster 😎👍

Yes, the face of the Watch is Power Glass and there is a solar panel around the bezel of the water under the glass to charge the watch while wearing. It even charges while it is powered off. Now, does it charge fast? Nope, it doesn't - it only charges about 1 to 2% per hour if it is in direct sunlight. Yet, the watch can make it an entire day, without using GPS, and only use about 3 to 5% battery. So, the solar charging features could still be quite useful in emergencies 👍👍😁

Actually 2. Say you find a place you want to go back to or the visit. Can you save location and navigate back to that location? Or say you forget where you park Lol or get lost while hiking. If u somehow pre save current location and navigate back? Second in a pinch can you use your watch as a gps while driving?

I strive to always say, write, and document a few positive aspects about the gadgets tested. And yeah, I do miss my Garmin Tactix Delta Solar, but glad that it went to another person, a college friend of mine, for I know he appreciates the wearable. The watch on my left wrist currently, and every day for the past 38 days - the Garmin Fēnix 6X Pro Solar, yeah, quite the sister watch to the Tactix Delta and quite similar. Anyway... Thanks for your video; very helpful (as I'm looking at what to buy)! 😊 2 question: 1. at 0:37 you say the watch you're using for the review is the solar edition with a sapphire lens. I heard in someone else's review that it would be either one or the other, since sapphire would reflect sunlight. Is that incorrect? If they DO both exist in one watch, I want that one! ;-) (couldn't find it with both options on Garmin's website earlier either, so that's why I was wondering) 2. Concerning the SpO2: yours shows lowest at 84%. Normal is between 95-99% and with intensive training, it shouldn't go below 92% really. Do you think this watch is accurate in measuring SpO2? Or is there a reason it shows 84% as lowest (incorrectly?)? Thanks again and keep up the good work! 👍🏻

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The Garmin Tactix Delta that I was using in the video was both solar & sapphire. And yes, that is rare for Garmin smartwatches normally come in one or the other. If you visit the Garmin website it gives the breakdown on the specs page and reads, "Lens material: Power Sapphire" and this means that the lens is both sapphire and Power Glass along with the circular rim of a solar panel on the watchface as well - very similar to the Fenix and Enduro watches.
      SP02 - yes, I felt the Tactix Delta did measure my SP02 accurately. I compared to other Garmin watches, Apple, OnePlus, Fitbit, and Samsung. The 84% could have been an error, my watch was too loose, or I was moving too much.
      All in all, yes, the Garmin Tactix Delta Solar edition was and still is an amazing watch. My friend that bought it from me loves it too. I really, really wanted to keep it, alas, I can only test and keep so many watches. I have the Fenix 6x Pro coming later this week and I am really looking forward to testing, wearing, and learning more about the Fenix series for this will be my first. My opinion after 51 days of usage of a Tactix Delta: the wrist based HRM is terrible, I mean horribly inaccurate… I tried to squize the strap , I tried to lose it slightly, but it’s just simply total garbage. The blood pulseoxymeter often loose the signal too. The navigation is impressive with the preloaded topo maps, and the battery life is amazing compared to any other product in the current market. The sapphire lense is very durable just like the DLC on the front. It’s a good sport watch, but far from perfect.

Hopefully, Garmin will bring this watch out with an Amoled display in the future. If it reduces the battery life from say 4 days to 3 does it really matter for 99% of users?

      Nice comments 👍🏻 As it pertains to battery life, yeah… that is a loaded question. To some 18 or 35 day battery is a dream. And then there are Apple Watch ⌚️ Users like me that only deal with an 18 hour window of gadget life and it stinks! I told myself that Apple needed to do two things with the Apple Watch 7:
      1. Increase the battery life
      2. Make the charging Qi compatible
      👎 nope, not one of my requests were met this year. To answer your question is difficult for I am not the average user. To me a few days less for a Garmin Fēnix 6X dropping from 16 days down to 12 would not be a big deal. However, by adding an OLED or LED screen, nope, Garmin would not be able to reach day 12. From my experiences with gadgets over the last three decades I don’t see OLED screen lasting more than nine days. However, OnePlus was able to reach 14 with little usage. Sadly, that OnePlus Watch version 1.0 is sitting on a self collecting dust right now for I don’t trust the data it collects 😿

      I think it's worth mentioning that Garmin uses the transflective display because it is so easy to see in direct sunlight. While using indoors it isn't as vibrant as an OLED screen, but outdoors they perform much better as the brighter the light, the brighter the screen.

      At a closer look, the model you reviewed isn't the military issue watch. The military version retails at $1,399 and is officially called "tactix® Delta - Solar Edition with Ballistics". This version of the watch has key additional features, such as: applied ballistics and a jumpmaster feature (covers HAHO, HALO and static jumps); MGRS mapping - among other things.
      So, I hate to tell you then - the manual for all of the components of the military/ballistics version of this watch is actually 62 pages. It's a great watch, the navigation features are on point and provide a lot of additional technical data, for those that may need it. I've been wearing this watch for a bit now and am really happy with its functionality. Here's the manual for the military version for anyone that would like to take a look: www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-3B607AEB-9EB5-4BF3-A38D-1F9926BB9F65/EN-US/tactix_Delta_OM_EN-US.pdf

      1/ there is another type with extra feature: Ballistic(300 extra bucks). There is some guy doing the review on this watch with Ballistic feature and in his vid. He claimed the watch lasted more than 30 days average while the main website advertised it could last 24 days. Your vid claims it lasts 18 days… So, my question is… Does the one with Ballistic last longer than this one?

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Garmin doesn't release the battery size for their smartwatches. I don't know if they placed a larger battery in the Ballistic version. The Tactix Delta Solar is wonderful for the following reasons:
      1. great battery life (easily up to two or three weeks depending your backlight, SP02 tracking, notifications, and if you're using more than one hour of GPS workouts daily)
      2. it has the solar panel and Power Glass for emergences.
      3. it has a sapphire glass lens over the watchface to keep the watch looking awesome
      4. it the the DLC coating around the bezel to keep the watching looking amazing month after month
      5. it has a kill switch so you can pretend you are James Bond or working for the military
      6. color maps are very detailed
      7. it stores music
      8. it has map distinctions among public & private land
      9. navigation is smooth too
      If you don't want to drop $1,100.00 you can go with the Garmin Fēnix 6X Pro Solar, for that is the one I am wearing right now. It doesn't have the kill switch, if you choose the solar version then you don't get a sapphire screen and vice versa. At the time of typing this long response the Tactix Delta Solar is the only one that can also come with a sapphire lens. Happy shopping...

      Yes! This model of Garmin has both the sapphire glass face, a solar panel on the screen, and the entire glass screen is a solar panel called, Power Glass. The Tactix Delta Solar is even more unique for it has Night Vision and anti-glare properties. I felt this watch was wonderful outside; however, inside buildings and at night, yeah, a backlight level of 20% or 30% was needed for me to clearly read it. This could be a preference thing or my aging eyes. So... I asked my friends and family about the watch-face visibility when indoors, outside, and indoors at night. And yes, they too thought the screen was difficult to read and quite dark when the backlight was at 5 - 10%. I hope that answers your questions. Oh yeah, when I compared the Garmin Tactix Delta Solar to the Garmin Enduro - a huge difference in visibility. The screen display for the Enduro was much easier to read.

      On another battery life note… the battery life that I experienced, and tested first hand, with the Tactix Delta Solar is nearly the same as the Fēnix 6X Pro Solar Garmin smart watches. I found this fact to be quite fascinating and they both charge at about the same rate. The Garmin Enduro is the slowest solar wearable that I have tested and that is caused by the larger battery inside the Enduro. And as you may of already guessed it all relative for even though the Enduro may have only gone up on battery life 3% over hours outside in the sun; whereas, other Garmin gadgets in the exact same sunlight for the same time frame increased to 5 or 6% the Enduro still wins with longevity… I have a video that I am working on that will prove such statistics.

      I asked about the difference in screen visibility between the solar and non-solar because another review video showed a significant difference in screen visibility with the Garmin Instinct between the solar and non-solar versions. Not so much in day light or artificial night, but more so in the dark when using the backlight. The screens with the backlight on, in low light, were very noticeably different in clarity and brightness. Though I know the screen types between the Tactix and the Instinct are different, I still was curious if the solar screens had any noticeable difference.
