Hard pass, that is my private time - I want a friend not a pastor. You don't need to be Bible thumping with your peers to be a good person. I'd rather be home with my dogs.

I love what Dave says about connecting with people who are more ‘successful’, (or, have experienced things you’ve not experienced yet). Learning is constant and we all learn from one another. To grow as a person, you need to hang out with others who know more than you. Everyone knows something you don’t. You know something others don’t. Stay humble and be open-minded to opportunities in life.

For whatever reason, I was exposed to five of the best gals I would ever meet in Jr. and High school and all of them married great guys too. So I am still to this day best friends with all of them. A girl I met when I was five was toxic to me and I was free of her at age 34 ( bless the Lord ) and a couple of gals that I've met since then did not work out either. That makes no sense though LOL because my picker ought to be better. Not one of my good friends from High and Jr. High begrudge my big new house whether they have one or not. It's not Dave Ramsey big of course LOL...but I've picked newer friends that did. Odd.

I've always believed that old saying, u are the average of the 5 plp u choose to surround urself with. Having a small core group of authentic plp to look up to, to admire, to learn from, is in my opinion a great virtue. In each chapter of r lives, r friends can change, but r values shouldn't, (if they r good.) so its apparent that there might be fluctuations in those friendships, & in the size of ur true connections. Great topic for all walks of life!

As I attain different levels of success people have floated in and out of my life, some by my doing, and as I get older I have become more discerning who is a true friend and who just likes me in my current state of success. It's like the Fleetwood Mac song, "Dreams", where it says, "thunder only happens when it's raining. Players only love you when your playing". Great video topic!

This is sooo true tho, the way I’ve been on another level from late last year, transformed a lot, from huge weight loss, feeling and looking better, having better self love & self care, being more conscious and paying attention to not just who seems to wanna come back into my life but those that haven’t even reached out, some were shocked with how I’m doing now especially with how I’m in the military now too. Honestly I feel I’ve really come a long way & I plan on continue my journey with bettering myself as private as I can be. I always remember how ppl say “ppl will only like u when it’s beneficial” they see you’re doing good, forgetting it was a whole process but that’s just wat it is 🤷🏽‍♀️ Also as u get older it’s only few that are real genuine friends that will stick around, everyone else don’t be surprised if it’s envy or they being miserable & they want u too be like them

Wesley, I hope that these suggestions might help you - joining clubs that interest you (eg sporting, book, youth, church etc). There are many out there, you need to find one or two that interest you. Volunteering at animal shelters, hospitals, meal services, big brother programs, services for the elderly etc. Volunteering will make you feel good and also the recipient. After my Dad passed away my Mum struggled with having to live on her own after 54 years of marriage. She decided to become a volunteer and enjoys it immensely. You said that you live a God centred life, do you attend church? There are many churches that have social groups. As for your family, maybe tell them that you miss them and would like to spend more time with them and see how they respond. Maybe you might need to be the initiator/organiser of family get togethers (something as simple as a regular coffee meet up). I hope that this gives you some ideas/direction.

The distinction between youth and age is life experience. We cannot expect someone in their 40's to understand and appreciate the life experience of someone in their senior years. What is the msg we want to impart to our progeny? You WILL make mistakes. Admit your mistakes and have a soul- searching conversation with your progeny...they long for your truth and are more forgiving than one might think possible.

Same I had tons of “friends” in high school but after graduating I quickly realized I only had a couple of true friends. Everyone kinda goes off in their own direction, we don’t necessarily have to outgrow them. It’s all about keeping your true friends close and not worrying about people who want your company for their own benefits who won’t support you in your time of need.

I think for a lot of people that are posers they're just young and insecure. With age a lot of people lose that and start to realize what's important in life. When I was in my teens and early 20's I actually felt and believed I didn't deserve to even interact with people including relatives because I was not on tract to be super successful and thought I had no value. A lot of people take until their late 20s to get on the right track career wise and so many younger people think they need to have it all, including a house asap after they graduate. This can cause people to become posers because they think no one could love them or think of them as worthy to interact with just for who they are.

I disagree. My HS and college friends are very dear to me. But, the difference is, I went to boarding school with them. They were brought up the same way I was in the same denomination I was. They knew me as a venerable teenager and we can talk about anything and we talk about everything. We are all down to earth. They are real people. We get together every 5 years still and my family still goes on vacation with some of our HS/college friends.

@@samtavoosian3059 by that standard if you and your wife are highschool sweethearts you're doing it wrong. You should have outgrown her or him.. doesn't make any sense. If your friends aren't dragging you down, there is absolutely no reason to "outgrow" them. In fact, it is such a egoistical way of looking them that I can't believe Dave, who is a self claim religious person, would think like that
