The rate at which Becky's channel is growing is a testament to the value she is giving out. Thank you Becky for sharing your life with us and teaching us so much about homemaking. Good job.👏👏♥️
Hi Becky, great video as always :) I have a small suggestion for you regarding weighing your produce. Over the winter try to take an hour to weigh all your harvesting baskets/boxes and bowls. On the baskets you can tie on a label with the weight, write it on the boxes and bowls (or use a list or duct tape stickers). Then when you weigh your produce all you need to do is look at the label and deduct the weight of the baskets/box/bowl. It's a little thing but speeds you up at the end of a hot afternoon's gardening. Hope this little trick helps you and your followers :)
I just purchased a pound of the Great Northern garlic…… Urban Farmer has it! I also doing Magic…… we took down our old deck and I built three raised beds with the wood!
Thanks for the idea. We've grotten an allotment 2 weeks ago, and i want to make 2 raised beds, 1 for strawberries and 1 for herbs. When i read your comment i rememberred the stack of hardwood fencing planks in my backyard. I'm going to check them tomorrow!!!!
You should get a digital suitcase scale, lift the basket full of produce with the hanging scale. Mark the empty weight on each of the baskets. The scales weigh up to like 110 pounds. Amazon sells the scales for 10 to 15 bucks
Becks, your voice send my cat and husband running in to watch your video with me. The trees on your property are gorgeous, especially the one turned red over your head during your outdoor. I hope you do try your hand at fried green tomatoes as they are "slap yo mama" delicious! I'd stand at my mama's elbow and eat them hot out of the pan. This may sound silly coming from a stranger on the internet, but I'm really proud of you. You never shy away from your mistakes and you are constantly learning and striving to be better. You're the kind of person that truly inspires people to be better than they were yesterday. Thank you for being you.
You CAN actually buy elephant garlic in the grocery stores. I bought some at my local Winco and the cloves were more like shallots! There were 5 cloves in my head
There is nothing in this world like a home grown tomato! 😋 You MUST treat yourself to fried green tomatoes. They are absolutely delicious! Thanks for sharing this video and your homesteading journey. It's amazing and you are so relateable that it's inspiring!!
Becky I do not know how I have never seen your channel before. I stumbled on your videos this past week, and I am hooked. You are one of the most hardworking ladies I have ever seen. You are encouraging, smart and I love learning from you. Thank you for your videos.
I also love seeing the chickens! And I hope during the winter when Becky has a lull in her schedule I would so love to see a video of how she does her hair!It always looks so nice.
Becky, you are wonderful! Although you are half my age I have learned many things from you! I just now made my first bowl of brown sugar! You are correct when you say doing things the "homemade" way is very rewarding and empowering! Even down to simple techniques of cutting and peeling an onion, your method is much easier! I'm not certain that it gets cold enough, for long enough to grow after the first frost but I am in the process of planting some garlic! We live in a neighborhood and have a pool in our backyard so our growing space is limited! I have taken out most of the shrubs in one section of the yard so that has given me some room. Tomatoes, peppers and okra are what I have room for! Bless you sweet lady for helping this old lady get better in the kitchen because that is where I love to be! I hope that Josh, Acre and you all have a wonderful Holiday Season all around! Linda/Grammy
Yes. Very important instructions for starting a great example for the future of many families! Guaranteed to encourage self sufficiency and food for our spirits. 💙 THANK YOU 🥕
FYI Turn your tomato cages with the large end on the ground, then put the next tomato cage over the top so you can control the small end. You will be able to stack more tomato cages together.
Becky, this is how I get tomato plants out of the cages. Cut the main stem, then cut stems just on outside of cage. Pull the cage out, rest of plant very easy to get out. Great and informative video, I now have better understanding of garlic
I have recently started watching the more then farmers channel and they have square tomato cages that fold up and store neatly instead of the round cages. They even use them for their pepper plants
I don’t know how you do it Becky…I have a garden about half the size of yours and I get overwhelmed with how to process it all and how to store it all. I am even contemplating what I should and should not grow next year because I have so much already canned and frozen.
Being from the south I've eaten fried green tomatoes all my life. I've even read this year that people are canning sliced green tomatoes to pull out and fry during the winter which would be awesome.
Ohhh excited and hope I can continue my garden next year (had to put it on hold this year due to chemo ugh 😑) but next year I’ll be back in full swing including my first year of late garlic planting…I’m so excited 😊
Becky, I LOVE that you're so honest. I'm a 56 yr old A.D.D. gardener. LOL I really am though. My gardening style and types prove it. I also love that you seem to be so neat. Lord have mercy. I am NOT. I grow on a tad bit over an acre. I have a big container garden, 3 greenstalks, 15 small raised beds and an inground area. It's "busy" like grandma's wallpaper. I leave stuff out all. the. time. One day I hope to find my late mother's garden trowel. It was so old. She probably got it at Kmart back in the day. It was the best trowel. I have never found it. It's been five years. Thank you for being YOU. You are a delight to watch. Don't change.
❤ As we are heading towards the holidays, I can't help but think of your son. I wonder if he is crawling, talking and enjoying your wonderful, healthy food from your garden. I totally respect your decision of not including your son in your channel but also wonder about him.😊 Thank you for all your lessons on recipes, seeds and gardening. Your garden has been amazing! May God to continue to bless you, your family and your viewers.
What a great idea using the lighter to create the holes in the fabric. Love the tomato harvests that you have had this year! So many tomatoes!!!! Time to put the beds to rest.😴 I used to help my Dad put his garden to rest for the winter. We would pull everything & he would amend then cover like you did. He said the the garden worked hard and needed to sleep. Plus gardening is great but after so much harvesting a person can just get tired. Thanks for sharing.
Maybe you could set you up a weighing station, with a scale and a dry erase board. Then when you bring it in you can document what you have. Then keep a notebook to transfer the info into for a reference later.
Becky and crew, perhaps weighing might happen if you put some tape on the baskets (base of the handle?) and as soon as you get inside. weigh it and mark it. or if there are weatherproof outdoor scales???? you could have them right outside. perhaps also some nephew or niece or just a kid who wants to learn could lend you a hand. Here in Mexico the kids are always willing to pitch in. Glad to see that the organizing helps you get more done, more quickley. hugs to you and yours from me and mine Jim Oaxaca
I think you might be wrong about not getting hard neck garlic from the grocery store. I planted garlic from the grocery store last year and it was hard neck.
I am absolutely AMAZED at how much you get done w/a baby/toddler in the house! We're in our 80s now and still garden & preserve our food but I do remember those child-filled years and how exhausting it was to try to do everything like you are doing. Many kudos to you - (and how do you film with NO baby sounds in the background???).
You are an amazing young woman! I so enjoy watching and listening to you! Just listening to you today about garlic, so much I never knew about it! I appreciate you, very much!
Had a bunch of green romas …so I roasted them along with some red one tomatoes, a few bell peppers, and a couple of onions…. Blended into a yummy tomato soup …never would have guessed that many were green tomatoes…had a lovely red tomato soup color. Stored it in pint jars in the freezer.
My husband bought me a gorilla cart. It fits more then a wheel barrow, easier to pull, 4 wheels, and a tilt bed. So much easier to use. How you thought about getting one? It will change the way you do things.
Those were beautiful garlic heads. So many time the grocery store ones are so little you can barely peel and slice them. Can't wait to see your parents come and help with the onions. Becky, you are getting off to a great 2024 start with all the labeling. Have a good week.
I am in Pennsylvania and our Amish neighbors always plant celery if there is going to be a wedding at their house in the fall. They wrap the celery in a few layers of newspaper and burlap. They then tie it to keep away frost damage and harvest it up through December. Just thought I would share that tip for what it is worth.....
Lol, I cracked up when you pulled the one Roma plant and beautiful tomatoes rained down! Congratulations, and may next year be as bountiful as this one.
I just love that after a week of recovering from being away, as I work on putting my house back together and process the apples that I got while away I get to open TH-cam and see the woman that encouraged me to start a store in my own house! I’ve got so many jars put up, I need to purchase more shelving.
I've seen others that plant Amish Paste tomatoes and they turn out to be about 2 to 3 times larger than a Roma. Still meaty and delicious. You might want to try them. I'm going to next year.
Thanks to the person who suggested to Becky that she soaks her garlic in cold water to aid in peeling. I used the method yesterday and it worked. Cheers
Your enthusiasm for all things gardening is contagious. The joy of getting garlic in the ground was so apparent in your voice and on your face. Canned green tomato relish is sooooooo good as is green tomato pie and fried green tomatoes. So I hope you get to enjoy them before they ripen to red inside and find the time to discover their wonderful freshness, flavor, and flexibility. Very impressive harvest, Becky..
Love the massive garlic heads! Can’t wait to see what they produce for you next year, & how much easier processing! But WHY aren’t you using your Gator instead of just wheelbarrow during all these big harvests & bed cleanouts?

Becky roma tomatoes are just fine for fried green tomatoes. Fried green tomatoes are a staple down south where I live. Don’t overthink your fried tomatoes. Only a few ingredients are needed. I use flour, salt and pepper to coat them maybe a little paprika. Then just pan fry until light brown. Delish!
Hi Becky greetings to you and your beautiful family. These garlic are so big and beautiful can't wait to see the future next year how huge they will be when harvesting, I believe how happy your heart will be harvesting your garlic next year❤ looking forward for the rest of 2023 harvest👍🙏 what a abundance of beautiful tomatoes harvest this year❤your tomatoes always do well👍
I’m back lol. I have to say, at the end with the sun glowing, Becky that view is absolutely amazing ♥️♥️ I went back and paused it so I could just enjoy it for a minute. WOW just doesn’t cut it. 😊
I'm looking at your garden and wondering if i would really want that for me? Lol I'm already convinced i need way more than i could ever tend to be fully satisfied with it. Blessings everyone everywhere and always
I’m excited for this, I’ve been waiting for a little bit. I saw one channel planted all the garlic facing the same direction and all the garlic grew the same direction too! So funny but so organised that the leaves didn’t bump into each other. Hope 2024’s harvest is going to be brilliant!
If you cut the landscape fabric with the torch instead of the scissors the end will already be sealed....saves the extra step of cutting then sealing the end.😊
Always love your videos! Just a note: in some areas, you do buy hardneck garlic at the store. In Minnesota, all local garlic is hardneck and you can get it at the store until about December! :)
You should fry up some green tomatoes and eat by themselves or make a bacon and fried green tomatoe sandwich. So so good. And if you like fried okra, try adding chopped green tomatoes in with your sliced okra. Add flour and seasonings and fry together. Oh so yummy!
I grew up in Michigan the first tomatoes were always picked green for frying 😋😋😋. The last green tomatoes were always made into green tomato relish also delicious. Love your channel Becky .
When Becky started using those little carrots as pointers for emphasis I got the giggles as she reminded me of myself using rulers, combs, etc.. when speaking for emphasis.
Thanks for all you do, Becky. You are prompting me to plant my garlic. I keep putting it off, but I'm gonna do it now. I'm going to follow your example.
Its been great watching your garden progress over the season, from your disappointment at the start that the plants weren't doing as well as you had hoped to the abundance throughout the season. I live in New Zealand and am in the middle of spring. I've just planted out my garden and love watching everything grow. This is the best time in the garden.
I made Piccadilly Relish from Ball Book Home Persevering page 228 using green tomatoes & it was wonderful!!! I wish I were your neighbor I’d help in garden if I could of had all those green tomatoes in your compost pile
Yum. I love fried green tomatoes and it doesn’t matter which variety you fry although obviously if they are bigger, it is easier to batter. Thanks for showing the process of harvesting and bed prep.

I've planted Organic Garlic from Walmart before....works great.
Love watching all that you do on your farm. You NEED a Gorilla cart! It changed my life for harvesting and yard work!💕
I planted out my garlic about a week ago and just put my tulip bulbs in the ground today.
You should've mixed the compost and manure into your soil for it to do any good.
Great white northern does very well for me! You’ll like it. My favorite part is that it is easy to peel the huge cloves!
Quiet viewer here, always thumbs up and enjoy your videos 😊
Exciting!!
