I don’t think a maximum points would be as enjoyable because I think the best way is to do a thing where a “Shell thing” is on a step and you jump on it, causing it to ricochet into the step and back, and when you land you stop it. It wouldn’t be fun
@@meraldlag4336 Rubbish. That would be a joy to watch. No real player could ever master a frame-perfect pattern that maximizes the score without overflowing into 1UPs. Besides, that scenario only presents itself something like three times during the entire 32-level game.

The max score on the NES is actually 9,999,950 and if you score any higher, you roll over to zero. Future remakes (SNES, GBC, etc.) changed it to 9,999,990 and/or did not roll over to zero. All you have to do is abuse tricks like the Koopa on the stairs and stop at 8000 points, just shy of getting the 1-up, rinse and repeat. +Andres Arboleda Could be you didn't know the rules for this run. "Maximum coins" doesn't mean "every coin". It means getting the highest number of coins you can in every available world. Stopping for those coins you mention would have reduced the overall total.
I know this is an old comment, but I'm guessing they had to skip those coins to get the 4-2 "wrong warp" glitch. Summoning Salt made a great video describing it
You can definitely do the wrong warp glitch and still take all those coins in 4-2. But that would cost extra time just to get a few more. See how he ends 4-2? He uses up all his time looping the warp zone area and when he finally moves on, his timer is on 0. Stopping for those coins would mean he wouldn't make it on time without reducing the number of loops he did in that warp area, which would result in less coins in total.
I don't know why , as normally I find mario as a series kinda drab to my tastes, but add in every possible coin? Sign me up! Just the concept is very interesting to me and thrown together with computer perfect course making and i could never tire of watching.
It was a joke. There is a stereotype (which I don't subscribe to) that Jewish people are money grubbing.
