This and episode 8 are my favorites. I've watched it at least a dozen times. It just has such a cool vibe and feels like it takes place almost in an alternate reality, kind of an underworld, if you're going to follow the Hero's Journey, where Bocchi is on her own for the first time and has to learn how to get a grip on her anxiety without the other band members, but she does get a wise advisor to help her through it. If you notice, throughout the series, when Kikuri opens her eyes, something really important is going to happen. It's almost like she becomes momentarily possessed of a wise spirit before reverting to her carefree, drunk persona.
ONIKOROSHI is an inexpensive type of sake known as "cup sake," priced at around 1pound. It’s easily available at convenience stores and vending machines, but its flavor is quite different from authentic sake, it has a cheap taste. However, some people enjoy cup sake for its junk food like appeal. Additionally, they collaborated with Bocchi the Rock! to release a sake that was literally "made by letting the sake listen to her music." Of course, they also produced collaboration items, such as sake cups with Japanese traditional style.
Fun fact: Bocchi's given name, Hitori, is the counting word for one person. Her sister is Futari, which is the counting word for two people. Her parents named their daughters "person 1" and "person 2."
the sake in those drinking boxes is called Oni Koroshi, and I think it's like one of the cheapest alcohols you can buy, around 100 yen (50p) per box. reminds me a bit of the cheap boxed wine that you can find at supermarkets here.
Funny thing I actually bought that Sake-in-a-carton and it's one of the vilest alcoholic thing I've ever tasted. Absolutely disgusting. Cheap. But disgusting. And nope, it's not mixed with anything. Do not try it at home
BEST GIRL! She is my drunk senpai waifu. HAPPINESS SPIRAL! (Though on a serious note, I did recently get myself out of my own stoner happiness spiral and sometimes it's good to know when you've hit your limit and you're doing more harm to yourself than good. Drink and smoke responsibly, I'm not against drinking or doing drugs but be honest with yourself when you've gone too far. 💚)
I think the only real issue is when street drunks cause trouble for other people, or are just generally being a nuisance. DUI is also SUPER frowned upon like, even 0.0001% on a breath test and you get ticketed.
it always kills me how she thought that jimihen could go to the show. does he normally pay for things himself? i can imagine him having a little wallet lolol
The base player reminds me of Misa, the base player from Band Maid who preforms with a bottle of Jim Beam wiskey on her amp. Maybe its a base player thing😂😂😂😂
I recently went to Japan, I visited Shimokitazawa and tried Onikoro sake, and I must say it's the worst sake I've ever tasted lol but it's very cheap and it's everywhere, that's why Hiroi always drinks it~ (because she's always broke hahaha)
Kikuri Hiroi is, without a doubt, the best girl. She has a spin-off manga. She immediately sees the potential in Bocchi upon playing with her and definitely becomes the senpai. She genuinely hopes Bocchi can succeed where she faltered and will wholeheartedly support her in that. She may be a drunk and be unruly but she sees a lot of herself in our anxious guitarist.
@@laxstateofmind idk man the ones I always hear about are smirnoff ice and seagrams. I'm a beer, sake, and whiskey person, glenlivet caribbean reserve is my go-to
The dog's name is Jimihen as in Jimi Hendrix
Best Girl has finally shown herself.
Hiroi is a fucking menace! She's amazing! And the dog is named after Jimi Hendrix
Best girl is here!
Our Drunken Master is based on a real-life punk rocker and bassist Margaret Hiroi.

She has her own spin-off manga now.

That is certainly one way to name one's kids

the imaginary replacement guitarist played the opening notes to Fuwa fuwa time from K-On!
Drunk-Chan is my favorite character 🥰

Now you got me wanting to try it just so see for myself seeing as I am a general Sake enjoyer.

The consistency of bassists being broke losers is way too real
Hey! I resent/resemble this remark!
13:53 - "But the alcohol's fine?"
Street drinking is generally legal in Japan

Yes, drunken senpai is here!
A terrible role model, but a great mentor for Bocchi 😊

The alcohol Hiroi's drinking is the real brand "Onikoroshi sake". They're making cheap sake in juice boxes with straw.
2:08 Jimihen is for Jimi Hendrix
Man I wish drunk women were real
Search for Margaret Hiroi, if you want to know about the original drunken bassist.
Onikoro in Bocchi's world is Onikoroshi in ours. It's not a mixed drink or anything, but it's really cheap saké.
sake and soju are both usually around 15% alcohol by volume
So she’s chugging wine coolers 🤪
@@laxstateofmind nah wine coolers are like 5%. Standard red wine is about 11% - 15%
@ what kinda weak wine coolers you getting?
