What an exquisite interview. Worth watching many many times just for the sheer humility and articulation of both gentlemen.

this dude forever continues to blow my mind.....im building the story as i speak... chris is utter brilliance and utterly self deprecating at the same time but a genius nontheless. Nothing short of a genius. Such a contrast when he doubts his work and then recites in detail every aspect of it and then i'm sitting here like ....holy fuck thats absolutely genius, and hes like "yeah i guess". Hearing his idea behind Building Stories just blew my mind even more. What a concept. could listen to these two speak for hours. thanks for posting.

I think you can have an obsession and a passion but it can also be a constant chore. That almost makes it more impressive when you see a completed masterpiece, knowing that the person creating it doesn't feel like it's an enormous accomplishment. They've committed so much energy toward mastering a craft that they are annoyed by the process. It's an every day routine. It's a relief that it's over. temporarily That's how you know the layman is set up to be amazed. The artist would never imagine going down another path but thank God this part is over.

16:45 aw I just want to give him a hug. he's firmly established himself in the modern comics canon, I think, and his characters are to many (such as I) what Charlie Brown was to him. loved the anecdotes with his daughter at the end as well!

If there is any chance that you read that someday Chris: I, for a start, was very exited about your new book coming out. And i'm pretty sure we are plenty, plenty of fans all around the world longing to be moved again by your atonishing world. I admire and praise every piece of it...and the same stands for the marvel of human being who you are.

I've never saw Chris on footage until now and I'm shocked to acknowledge he's not weird at all, but a very articulated person with a beautifully glooming speech. He brights as much as his art and this is rare.

What Chris said about Charlie Brown and Schulz’s art is so true that I started choking up just to hear him say it.

I have his Monograph, it is crazily big. One needs two desks for it.

he seems very likely neurodiverse/autistic. almost all talent is neurodiverse/a variation from the norm. it's interesting how little eye contact he makes and how much he shares about his creative struggles. both symptomatic.

To my taste it is primitive, soulless and even disgusting.
