    Your channel is absolutely unbelievable. I started smoking a pipe a few months ago found you on here. Since then, every time I have a question (this time it was for clarification about types of tobacco) I google it, BUT, I always find myself coming back to your channel because I'm certain you will have covered the topic. There's a reason other tobacco pipe channels mention you as well. Very impressive to say the least.

    I have to sincerely thank you Sir for all the valuable information you’ve taught me as a new pipe smoker. You have been my #1 source and go to guy for everything I’ve needed to know from every last detail practically and I have become roughly 3 mos successful and enjoying pipe smoking more every day. I even bought a variety of your favorite tobaccos and haven’t ran into any that my pallet doesn’t agree with, if anything they’ve been outstanding as well. Thanks again Muttnchop and look forward to seeing and learning more from you in the future and hope you’re doing well. “Happy Piping”!

    I am from Louisiana and have been to St.James and saw the process and did a school report on it once. It's extremely interesting process which I admire even more now that I have started to smoke a pipe. Finding different tobacco's with so many different flavors and complexities has made pipe smoking that much more interesting and enjoyable.

    I'm sad that this publication is no more! I've been trying to find scans of issues people have to share, as I think they get quite pricey when looking at issues for sale. I would love to read around this magazine, great information as always Muttnchop!

    As a young lad, I picked tobacco on my Uncle's farm in Georgia, including tying the stalks together and hanging them in the barn. It was a large leaf that we picked while still green (and my hands were black from the tar afterwards). I wonder now if he was growing Burley.

    nice article, thanks for sharing. i wash they had included Kentucky, a staple in Italian traditional pipe blends and some others, but also Maryland, Cigar leaf etc., but I do understand they're perhaps not common enough to be worth discussing in a non-specialist article.
    cheers

      Thanks Stephen, my goal when I started doing pipe smoking videos was to try and touch on all aspects of our hobby. I ask myself questions about the hobby like; "What type of tobacco's are used in pipe tobacco"? "What is the best way to cellar pipe tobacco"? How can we manipulate Ghosting to our advantage"? Then I figure if I am asking these question I bet others are also, then I make a video about it. I am glad that my videos hold your interest, thank you for the kind words, and for being a pipe smoking brother of mine. 👍

    Sutliff has an "Aromatic English" that, judging from your pallet description, you might might just like. Also in the English department that is good but not too "heavy" is another Sutliff entry called "East Farthing"

    Great review and history. When I was a kid, an uncle smoked a cheap auromattic called "Apple pipe tobaco". Smelled delicious to me till I tried it when I was older and it about gagged me. Really horrible. Natural blends are the way to go for me

      My local shop here carries a blend called Czar's Blend that is a cherry flavor, not sure of the actual tobacco, but it is one of my favorites as well. I smoke it at least once a day.

    Quick question: when purchasing bulk tobacco at the tobacconist, I don't see "manufacturers" labels. Usually it will say, "Black Raspberry" "Blue Note" or "B-22" on the jars. I suppose I could ask where the tobacco is manufactured? Or is it something different than that? My local shop is geared more to cigars than pipes so doesn't have much selection. They carry some tins as well, but mainly this bulk tobacco. I enjoy them, but I don't have much reference to go off of. And it makes it difficult to share what with others as I relate what I am smoking. Tips?

    • @MuttnchopPiper
      @MuttnchopPiper  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hoosier Hares & Homestead - when I was working at Schwabs tobacconist, the owner didn't even want me to know who made the tobacco in the House blends. But that's unusual not to have names of the house blend jars, the next time you're in there I would enquire about if the blends have names, if you get a response like "I don't know it's just pipe tobacco" you might think twice about a purchase, unless you like them, then don't worry about it. 😃😃😃

    Hey Muttnchop, thanks for all the content! I was wondering if you can give me your opinion or advice on what tobacco I can try out next. I have been smoking Amphora Original and Full Aroma for about three years now, and I really like it. I have tried Davidoff red mixture, blue mixture, Danish mixture as well as Dunhill's My Mixture 965 and Erinmore pipe tobacco. I really dislike the mixture 965 I think because I don't like oriental and spicy tobaccos; the blends that I seem to like are the virginia, burley, and black cavendish blends. My top two tobaccos are Amphora Original , then Davidoff Danish mixture; both are Danish tobaccos. Hope you can help me out, excited for your suggestions!

    • @MuttnchopPiper
      @MuttnchopPiper  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Eyad Kastoun - I have never had Amphora, so let's see, the Virginia blend I would recommend "Peter stokkabye Luxury Twist Flake, The Burley, that's easy Cornel & Diel's Haunted Book Shop" and the cavendish blend I would recommend "Drew Estate Toasted Black Cavendish" 😃😃😃

  • @brandonnewton5925
    @brandonnewton5925 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi muttnchop great vid very informative. I'm a newbie to pipe smoking & my local Tobacconist recommended to me a couple in house Cavendish blends to start with, which so far I think they're okay but I feel like it's not what I'm looking for. & he also told me aromatics are not the best for beginners, what is your opinion on that? I was also wondering if maybe you could recommend an aromatic blend that you think would be suitable for novice pipe smokers

    • @MuttnchopPiper
      @MuttnchopPiper  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Brandon Newton Yes, & No. let’s look at Yes first, when you first start smoking a pipe, there are so many hurdles to clear, packing your pipe correctly, lighting your pipe, keeping it lit, tamping, smoking it correctly, not getting tongue Bite, now throw on top of that a non Aromatic blend that might taste sour, or smoky to the novice pipe smoker, it might just be to much, so recommending an Aromatic which is typically a sweeter blend might entice a new pipe smoker to stick with it a bit longer to try and clear some of the other hurdles. Now let’s deal with No. typically because Aromatics have a casing, in the form of flavoring like Vanilla, or caramel, or cherry, they tend to burn hot, giving the new pipe smoker tongue bite. So if you learn how to smoke your pipe using the breathe method, it eliminates the tongue bite issue giving you time to clear all other hurdles no mater the type of tobacco you smoke. I have done a couple of videos on the Breathe Method, check them out and teach yourself how to smoke your pipe using this method, it will save you a lot of grief. As for a good Aromatic blend, I would suggest CAO’s Eileen’s Dream. 👍👍👍

      @@MuttnchopPiper thanks for your help! I will definitely check out your videos on the breathe method. So far I thoroughly enjoy your videos, keep up the awesome work!
