A lovely First Officer who is as sharp as a tack, combined with the most beautiful bird in the sky, the sleek, athletic 757, Boeing’s “sportscar” aircraft. The 320 and 737 families must use a step approach to their cruising altitude, the 757 can simply claim to altitude, no steps.
Brought back memories. Was in the US Navy, stationed in Keflavik in 1967-68. Single runway back then, IcelandAir pilots I always thought were the best in the world. They Had to land regardless of wind conditions. Kef was a fishing village, we could go down the the water when the boats came in, totally loaded, barely above water. Talk about fresh fish. Icelanders were/are fantastic: smart, funny as hell, great to work with.
My brother got lucky and was able to fly on one of iceland air's 757s for our trip to reykjavik (the rest of us got stuck on a wow a320 for 4 hours hahah). He said it was a great trip, great airline.
i am sure there are some bad days, just like any other job but flying seems to be a great career to have.i know its not as clamorous as in the old days but it still look a wonderful job to do.thanks for the videos and stay healthy,be happy and enjoy your flying and your life.thanks again.
+doubleBdasher different parts to the A/P, it isn't all switched on at the same time. They might have altitude select on soon after takeoff but they control the heading themselves for longer and so on. It varies by airline, aircraft and airport but that's the general idea.
She never engaged the autopilot in this video. The button she pushes on takeoff is the THR mode which commands the thrust levers to the takeoff setting.
doubleBdasher if you look a little closer, the a/p isnt engaged ;) VNAV-Vertical navigation - LNAV -Lateral nav. She is flying the crosshairs on the PFD from the FD that feeds from the FMC thru Vnav and lnan
Very good video! I noticed at the end that they were increasing climb thrust higher than takeoff thrust. I know it's for derated takeoff, but I'm still confused. And also, why do people say, 'oh yes, the female pilot did a good job.' Would they say, 'yes, the male pilot is professional?' Of course they are both professional!
I have noticed this before, the take-off thrust is lower for noise-abatement reasons. When they are higher up the noise is not a problem anymore, and the highest thrust rate can be used as long as it is within company fuel-saving limits.
Ended so soon. It bothers me when they talk about what to do after an engine failure and not what to do after the wing snaps of. It seems like engine failure us a common thing that's likely to happen on every flight.
If only Boeing had used the 757 to build on the next generation of narrow bodies rather than the fireplug 737. The higher profile eliminates the need to have to play with engine diameters, flatten the lower surface etc
why with the female pilots do you use their names, but with male pilots you don't say their names? I would like to know the names of the male pilots also.
Simple reason... There are 1000 guys and a dozen ladies... if we said Captain John and Captain Fred... no one would know or remember them... with the ladies you do remember them since there are only a few... but we'll try to throw in some more guy names as well.
The program is indeed on the 767 however 1 of the flights was switched to a 757 and thats this particular flight... We have a separate Icelandair program that focuses entirely on the 757.
It is highly unusual to see the Pilot NOT Flying handling the throttles while the Pilot Flying handles the flight yoke. General practice is for the Pilot Flying to handle BOTH the throttles AND the yoke, particularly during takeoff and landing. This is a strange arrangement for sure.
Excellent piloting skills from both! You can tell the passion for flight in her eyes.
I've got a tremendous fear of flying but watching your videos on a daily basis seems to help. Thank you!
it does make it all look so, well, normal, doesn't it?
Just don't watch the show May Day. lol
These airports in Iceland and Greenland look so GREEN all around the airport -- beautiful!!!
Very professional job by the first officer there. She certainly knows her stuff!👍
a 757 with the Icelandair livery is without doubt the best looking jet in the sky!
American's looks slightly better (with winglets)
MY FAVORITE PANE BUT IT WAKES TURBULENCE IS VERY DANGER !
Agreed but a 757 in any livery is beautiful
Nice upgraded displays in the cockpit
First thing I noticed as well (besides the F/O ;)) and the 757 is a beauty...
I was thinking exactly the same. Looks very sharp.
what do the numbers mean as they are talking ?
Icelandair has upgraded all their 757 fleet.
Wow, that's beautiful!
I love that GoPro view attached behind the overhead panel!

GIRL POWER..!!
Nice - very nice... I wish you everything of the very best for your career Laufey...
wow God bless this wonderful crew of this flight amen
They do not need god's approval.
They have an education and a a solid training.
Something god does not have.
What a thrill to fly a hot-rod like the 757! I know it's the favorite of many airline pilots who are rated for various Boeing and Airbus models.
My brother got lucky and was able to fly on one of iceland air's 757s for our trip to reykjavik (the rest of us got stuck on a wow a320 for 4 hours hahah). He said it was a great trip, great airline.
What a great Team !!! Best sounding "Iceland-English" ! :-) They are sooo coool !!!
I noticed that First Office Laufey correcting the plane to adjust for that 19 knot wind that was blowing. All in all a great take off.
These pilots are AWESOME.

I will trrrrray to explain :(
박진오 ikr 😂
Kkkkkk
She is so typical Icelandic woman , could be my cousin and makes me miss Iceland .
I remember seeing this plane at PDX when I did security for them !! It's a beautiful plane
757. Enough said. Lovely FO.
Well done first officer Laufey.
it looks like the new version of the 757 because of the cockpit
M Umar old planes with upgraded cockpit
757's are not build for years!
Flat panel display is an upgrade.
My outfit has them, I think it was mentioned it cost around a Million per airframe.
M Umar this one does have an updated panel
The last version of 757 yes with glass cockpit
As always just perfect!!!
thank you very much for what you doing..
Gee what a phenomenal woman
I LIKE HOW SHE HAS HER HAIR TUCKED VERY PROFESSIONAL !
I love pilots. Always have, always will.
Great video, tnx for sharing the cockpit with me. 👍
She is cute and doing fine!!!!
Love 757, thank u officer Laufey
Wow looks like Iceland Air uses Microsoft Surface tablets. I have one and LOVE it. Wonder what program or app she's using?
Este avión es uno de mis favoritos . grandisima máquina voladora. video muy bueno
excellent job!
Fascinating!
I love seeing women pilots❤️May Jesus Christ bless you all
I love accents : ) Pilot jargin Soooo Nice when she say's it : )
How are they steering the plane when it is on the ground? Just with thrust? Cheers from KEF
You go pretty bird . Safe travels. Great job . Hands Down
Beautiful!
Is it company policy to have PM handle the throttle on take off?
which model is this of the 757? Why does it have those big displays. Thougt that the 757 have those small displays
excelente pilots...to me they like angels they fly including my friend colonel air force
WHAT happened to the "old style" PFD??? Did they replace them with modern PFDs?
Impressive ! Very impressive.
I am always wondering, why do they keep flying manually after the AP has been switched on? Great video by the way!
It looked like they armed vertical speed and VNAV, but didn't engage the AP before the end of the video.
+doubleBdasher different parts to the A/P, it isn't all switched on at the same time. They might have altitude select on soon after takeoff but they control the heading themselves for longer and so on. It varies by airline, aircraft and airport but that's the general idea.

uh...because it makes for a better video?
doubleBdasher if you look a little closer, the a/p isnt engaged ;) VNAV-Vertical navigation - LNAV -Lateral nav.
She is flying the crosshairs on the PFD from the FD that feeds from the FMC thru Vnav and lnan
The male captain still told her to make a wind correction on the takeoff
Why do European aviation rules and non-USA ones also, anyway, set the transition altitudes so much lower than 18 thousand feet?
Very good video! I noticed at the end that they were increasing climb thrust higher than takeoff thrust. I know it's for derated takeoff, but I'm still confused. And also, why do people say, 'oh yes, the female pilot did a good job.' Would they say, 'yes, the male pilot is professional?' Of course they are both professional!

Very nice, take-off drill and routine, sterile cockpit, by professional.

First Officer Laufey you can be my wingman anytime ;-D
..I'll be her 'wing nut'...
Beautiful pilot :-)
I was so worried about that tablet falling from the windscreen.
757 or 767?
An excellent take off.
why with the female pilots do you use their names, but with male pilots you don't say their names? I would like to know the names of the male pilots also.
You mean like this th-cam.com/video/J-VYo4qbjGM/w-d-xo.html
JustPlanes Fab thank you....shame there's not more names for the male pilots
Simple reason... There are 1000 guys and a dozen ladies... if we said Captain John and Captain Fred... no one would know or remember them... with the ladies you do remember them since there are only a few... but we'll try to throw in some more guy names as well.
WeAreAllNeo Male names are not important, ladies are vip's always!!
WeAreAllNeo aren't all male pilots called Nigel anyway?
nice vids guys thx. :-)
I just do not understand how native English speaking air traffic controllers can understand foreigners who speak English with a heavy accent.
Is this a 757 or 767? Title says 757, in the end of the video it says it's from the 767 DVD.
The program is indeed on the 767 however 1 of the flights was switched to a 757 and thats this particular flight... We have a separate Icelandair program that focuses entirely on the 757.
Close your eyes and imagine ZaZa Gabor is your pilot.
757 with LED displays??????? Nice.
That's was very interesting👍
Hope she corrected her squawk.
767 is not it? the title is 757 ...
they should do one with aegean airlines
Nice headphones
Laufey is not a typical Icelandic name. Last names of Icelandic women are patronymic and usually end with the suffix, -dottir.
Laufey is first name and very tipical Icelandic name. Lauf mins leaf .
Cute
oh wow Ms. Jet Pilot...
Nice to see a smooth take off by a Babe
Soo beautiful lady fly me to heaven
Hope they appreciate not having to lug around a heavy flight bag full of manuals, charts, and revisions ;j
Wonder if she's going to bid the run to KDEN and the Mile High City?
As soon as she siad this gives us the engine failure id'e be OUT... lol
Interesting they did not mix English and Icelandic
Awesome!!!
I would love to have that takeoff software for flightsim :) The real thing...PRO
try TOPCAT
Women pilots kick ass, but this is a goddess...❤️
Nice
I won't to be a pilot and I am heading for my dream :-)
