Race control are blind af
Ferucci was on line, and ahead of Grosjean who was way off line and simply refused to yield. He put himself off circuit. Officials saw it as it was, a racing incident.
Yep. I think people forget it was 3 years ago at Barber that Grosjean did the same thing to Rahal. Ever since then, series officials have been consistent that the driver on the inside can drive wide like the other car doesn’t exist. I think it’s dumb and dangerous, but they’ve been consistent with the rulings.
@@onethumbks That was different Grosjean did not push Rahal off track a little bit of wheel to wheel contact should be allowed as long as it is not an illegal move
I believe if the car on the outside is 2 3rds alongside, he's entitled to space.

Powers 3rd 2nd place finish of the season in 4 races is pretty crazy
First American driver in 7th place. So much worldwide talent in this series, especially from Aus and NZ.

Looks like there’s a lot of new fans, which is a good thing. But it was 3 years ago at Barber that hip checking was started to be allowed. Ironically it was Grosjean, hip checking Rahal off track. Series officials ruled it ok and have been consistent since. As long as you’re alongside the driver on the outside you can drive like they’re not there. It’s dumb and dangerous in open wheel cars, but it’s been the same for everyone since.
Barber was sloppy driving by Grosjean, I'll agree, but Rahal was never forced onto the grass and he kept his position. Santino gained that position by forcing someone off the track here. Grosjean was side by side and would have had the inside line in the next corner.
@bbtodd It’s still kinda where it started. Pato on Dixon last year, Newgarden on Palou last year, several others. Like I said it’s dumb and dangerous, but if you push the driver into grass, out of the groove, or into a tire barrier the series officials have said that’s good. They’ve been consistent.
How about Herta charging from 24th to 7th place. Now that's some passing!

Indycar needs to get better podium celebrations including places 2 and 3 as well, to help show how difficult this racing is and earn greater success, drama, and entertainment.

Santino Ferucci is the Nikita Mazepin of Indycar. He's clearly in the wrong today but the commentator keeps defending him. The bias is really obvious.
No, it was payback for how Grosjean raced him off pit road in Barber. Nikita Mazepin could never get a Top 10 anywhere against decent competition.

@@dimension-ji7xkI will never forget Paul drawing the short straw in the 1994 Indianapolis 500. Out of three Penske Mercedes Specials, his was the one that conked out. I felt bad for him.

Lifelong F1 fan here (from Nelson Piquet’s days onwards!). Got into Indycar in last few years but one thing I wish they would change - have the same livery on cars of teammates. And make their numbers the same colour / font on the leaderboard.
Can't. Each car has different sponsors.
I prefer the variety of colorful liveries that we get in IndyCar
@@danielhenderson8316 ok well maybe the same colour on the nose or something. The commentators say things like “he hit his teammate” and it just looks like a completely different car. In pretty much all sports your teammates look the same or similar. Just a thought as somebody new(ish) to the sport.

It’s interesting how IndyCar supports/allows drivers (Ferrucci this weekend) to drive like emotional amateurs considering it just makes the sport look unserious and seems to happen several times a year. Getting revenge in a race session (exactly what Ferrucci said he’d do) is grounds for suspension in series that are internationally respected, but I guess I forget this is Roger Penske’s personal advertisement board, not a serious racing series. And no, I’m not a Grosjean fan, I just like actual racing instead of crybaby bumper cars.
Yeah that's NASCAR mentality! I always thought of open wheel raising as more gentlemanly!
@@michaelgawel5823 I even grew up on NASCAR and I’m sick of it! Bump and bang sure, but running a guy off the road because he hurt your ego is something good drivers learn to avoid when they’re still just children in karts. Hopefully Ferrucci will be a used car salesmen by next year.
@@jakehamilton9405 - I wish NASCAR would do away with the stage cautions, just a way of bunching up the pack again. I had a marketing professor in college that said NASCAR's true deliverable was not quality racing but wrecks.

Such good racing but why does it feel like this series is dying?
Because the on track product is the only A+ talent IndyCar can teach other racing series. Everything else, especially marketing, is an F-. They're acting like NASCAR and the Independent Track Owners in that we should feel honored that they are hosting an event for us instead of making the fans tell everyone how great the series is by word of mouth.

To be honest, I have nothing against hard racing, but the practice of intentionally pushing the opponent off the track, has become a disease in all racing series over the last 10 years. This has nothing to do with racing. This is just a bad character.
IndyCar doesn't look unserious to me. This series actually let the drivers have a run to attack and defend from each other. Formula One have a ridiculous "Moving Under Braking" rule that essentially kills any serious and hard battle for positions. We need more drivers like Magnussen and Ferrucci in motorsports.

NBC Indy broadcast booth is absolutely annoying. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard. I cant even tolerate it. It has turned me off to Indycar.
Hey, we have the technology for "resurrecting" voices of those no longer with us, right? Let's go with Jackie Stewart to start; he was one of the best track analysts and had a great announcer voice.

If I had to guess, there’s a contractual obligation to wait to post the highlights here, and NBC has the rights to post immediately. But I’m only speculating.
There is a 8 minute one that is uploaded first on Indycar's channel. Then NBC uploads a longer one. Then the longest that is 30 minute one is uploaded last.
Many countries can't watch the NBC highlights because it's region blocked it for some reason. Those countries can see this however.
