Brushwork is excellent. I was very interested in your comments about contrast paints, and their lack of flow. I haven't used them myself, but everyone seems to be raving about them. You comments are a much needed counterpoint in the discourse, I think.
Thank you. I spent some time watching other painters on You tube finding out their experiences before I started and some of them highlighted issues to look out for. I got myself some citadel Contrast paints and some Army Painter speed paints. I am finding you need to know how each paint behaves - for example for me, I find AP peachy flesh works well out of the bottle over a base coat of Vallejo Iraqi sand with an off white dry brush. However I find that AP highlord blue needs to be thinned with AP medium and thinner to give good flow. But when I have done that it gives good coverage and a nice mid blue when used over Vallejo grey blue. On the other hand I find Citadel Guilliman flesh more useful as a wash rather than a contrast paint.
Welcome back Gareth..Sorry to hear your news. I am also a lefty when it comes to painting. I have a similar problem when it comes to playing guitar, the fingers and joints getting stiffer with age. Luckily that has not affected my painting as yet.
I am also cack handed and are suffering bad pains in my shoulder and a nervous disorder all down my left arm and hand . I guess it’s age progression but I have done virtually no painting in six months . Just taking time out to decide whether I will give up the hobby (along with N gauge trains ) for good .
It's a great hobby isn't it! I am concerned that I will have to give up painting at some time, but it has provided so much calmness and pleasure over the years I am not ready to end yet. I will try to adapt my technique and see how my condition progresses.
Great to have you back gareth sorry to hear about your bad news but your figures look great ,i always enjoy your videos so stick at it my friend theres plenty of us in this community in your corner ,thats what is great about this hobby and all the guys we share it with ,a great bunch ,keep your head up keep painting and sharing with us take care regards jay
