If I see this correctly, this brings back a really iconic case style from the late 60s, that was used for such iconic watches as the "Gene Kranz" and without the bezel for the MACV-SOG watches. Imagine what Seiko could do with this ... I hope they don't sleep on this.
Mine was purchased in July 2023 and the number is 13289/15555, German edition, so Seiko probably produces the full quota and then distributes to dealers at the same time. Beautiful watch, like nothing else!
Got mine last week with a surprising 20% off from the AD. Mine's numbered in the mid 2,000's. Great recreation, the applied indices look great and over all just love how vintage it looks paired with modern materials.
Even if you look at Seiko retailers in US and Japan there is a total of about 10,000 places that sell Seiko….and we haven’t even considered the rest of the world. Of course a lot of these places in these two countries won’t get this watch but it does put into perspective that there won’t be enough. So if you see one don’t think too long.
New development, looks like Seiko actually ran all 15,555ea units in a single run, wow. We'll see how dealers allocate true availability, I'm surprised by the demand but i guess i just hear so much negativity around Seiko in the comments section, sometimes i forget that it's only a small but loud minority of folks that are so unhappy.
I love this one! ❤ Certainly not a copycat of some popular watch, which is appealing to me. With my birthday coming up, I may consider this a gift to myself🎉
I missed out on the first lot from my AD thinking I could pick this up slowly instead of pre-ordering early. I was so wrong, the first lot is already sold out and I pre-ordered one from the next lot that my AD will receive and that is going to be the last allocation for the store. And they already sold the units numbered in the 11xxx in the first lot so this model is really on high demand. And I don't seem them online for sale either except for the ones on grey market at double the price. Same went for Snoopy editions which got sold out too quickly.
I was excited about this release then I visited Seiko AD seeing it in person, it failed to wow me. Some how I felt it looks better in photos than in person. I didn’t walk home with it.

Just got mine. Phew. It looked for a while like I missed the boat. Yeah it's great. I love the way they recessed the crown true to the original. So OK it's tricky to hand wind, but that never was a problem with the 7s26. Just treat it the same. Great watch
Pretty nice reissue. Hey, a Seiko 5 dive style with a lumed pop in the bezel! They should just lume all Seiko 5s lume pips that have a rotating bezel. 15k units? Sort of negates the limited edition aspect of it. Which is fine. And, hey, makes for plenty of time (& units ) to pick one up.
with 15,555 units planned, it's essentially a standard production model that will run for the next 3 or so years then be discontinued at a count that honors the 55th anniversary of Seiko 5, but with individually numbered commemorative casebacks, that won't break the brand continuity of the modern 5 line.
I both it today, and my model is 13000+ and bracelet is much flexy then on first additions cos it greabs my arm yust like normal bracelet . It's beautiful. Seiko only crown is litle smole but ewry thing is ok and I realy like it ,and its totally diferent watch. Also I both mash strap and on that strap is crayzi good but I like that original bracelet.
Another great review, Mark - what a great summer watch that will absolutely rock with a white tee, black shorts, and flips. Would really complete the vintage look with a Speidel twist-o-flex. Pulled the trigger this morning.
I feel like there will be at least one that will pay homage to the look but I'm doubtful there'll be a reissue-level model with the correct chronograph layout
I love the Skyliner. That watch just works. The 6L35 is amazing, but too many idiots do not understand that it is not a 6r35. Even the high-best 6R2x and 6r64 movements get shit on. I wish more watch guys spent some time actually reading the materials Seiko puts out. The 6L is a quality movement. The same idiots go crazy for BS “in house” copies of the ETA 2892. I guess it just means more opportunities for those of us who know better.
@@garretthu2466 Sorry, the quick date shifts both weekday and date right, so it’s not for month ends. But then it makes even less sense as you would pull the crown out to set the time. Sure it saves you a bit of time to just push a couple of times.
The lines and polishing on the sides of the midcase are sloppy. It looks like they just buffed the hell out of it after it was cut. Not near as sharp and flat as the original case lines. The crystal is also too flat with not enough bevel.

My first watch that I picked up after seeing it. It reminded me of my dad with the skeleton bracelet he wore. RIP DAD
This is without a doubt the most accurate reissue they've done. Awesome job Seiko. You CAN do it!
The old 5 logo is so much nicer
I agreed
And that Prospex X is also hideous
I too love this logo

Best recreation by seiko in years.
My twin brother bought this watch . He’s loving it so far 👍🏻
How is the bracelet working out?
Was not expecting to like this as much as I do. Will be on the lookout for it. Thank you.

39mm is my sweet spot. I love smaller watches which is why I tend to gravitate towards vintage inspired watches.

Stunner, love the original 5 badge, much better than the new superman style 5. Got mine from H Samuel in the UK. They had 59 of them in stock. Now 58.
They sold out quick it looks like, beaverbrooks the only uk stock now
Just ordered one! Stoked

I placed this watch on a vintage Speidel Twist-O-Flex band. Perfect fit and look. Great video.

It’s a beautiful piece, nice vintage recreation, lucky to get one….but what I didn’t expect is how great it look on wrist.
Yes picked up a unit last week and already numbered 14xxx 😅
Second wave has hit ADs, a few sites have them back on for purchase and Seiko USA online store also has them now.

Excellent review, you saved me a headache on this one, I have a really flat wrist, and I only wanted to wear it on the bracelet.
Got a flat wrist 6.75" sized it an no problem what so ever. It's a really superb watch and I have 28 other Seikos (stupid I know), give it a go
Great watch, and i was able to buy one on eBay for $250 which i think it's a steal.
Speidel band available on Amazon
Fair review and great video! I have purchased an SRPK17 from Mimo’s Jewelers with a 20% discount online! $332.00 USD all in! Super excited!
Very nice!

@@AverageBros thanks what silicone strap would you recommend?
Is it made in Japan because I saw a few examples that don't have the Made in Japan printed on the dial left from the 6 o'clock marker?
Some are, some aren't, depending on the market you're purchasing from
Ca 1500 are made for JDM, and those are guaranteed to be made in Japan.
@@AverageBrosI see yours is a Japanese made version. Did you get it from Belmont? Then I assume the US gets theirs from Japan, Canada doesn’t.

I bought this one and realized it's not made in Japan! They say it's made in Hong Kong on the box
Wish it came in other colors.
If only they replicated the quick day date change system of the original by pressing down on the crown. I’d gladly pay extra for that.
That was a cool system of the 6106, but only used 5 times per year.
@@jonasthemovie Well I never wear a watch for more than a day or two at a time so this feature would actually be nice to have.

Mineral crystal for $450 when you can get double domed sapphire with AR coating and titanium case and bracelet for under $300... Nice job Seiko 😂
Bonito...mas não vale o preço.... neste valor tinha que ser cronógrafo e com uma pulseira de couro de brinde...😮
