I've wanted for two years to travel from the midwest to see the Hulda Klager Lilac Garden. I appreciate your video preview! Next year, fingers crossed.
Angela, thank you so very much for sharing this tour with us. It brought back memories of my great-grandmother's backyard garden, near downtown Chicago. I'm not sure what is like now, it's been almost 40yrs since I've been back, but Lilacs were everywhere across the city, and it's suburbs, in throughout 19th Century. One did not need to walk near to a Lilac bush, to enjoy their divine fragrance, for it permeated the air wherever you walked. Of course, my great-grandmother's garden was absolutely intoxicating. It touched my heart to see you share this wonderful experience with your dad. His delight was evident through the camera lens. Your family's love of horti/permaculture, and your efforts to pass that on to succeeding generations, is a joy to watch. Again, thank you for offering us a glimpse into your world.
Can you propagate lilac from those “suckers”? My tree and base is covered in them. Before I put them all in the compost I wondered if it would be worth seeing if those cuttings could root.
Beautiful lilacs Angela. Love their fragrance but a bit hot where I live to do them justice. Lovely to be taken on a tour to see them looking so glorious. I have been meaning to say as well that it is also nice to see you in your more recent videos.
So after much confusion and a little research, when you say Lilac I think lavendar. Im a newbie obvi! Lol. Learning the scientic names seem a long way off for me. 💜🌎✌
Lovely photos and video, I could almost smell the fragrance as I watched. My 9 year old lilac is getting ready to bloom, it's one of the first trees I visit each morning this spring, along with all the fragrant hyacinths in their glory right now. My neighbor brought me a 4' runner, (with roots attached), of her Moscow Lilac. The blooms will be as large if not larger than those giant ones you showed. Love your content and regular postings.
@@ParkrosePermaculture This year we had a couple weeks of -40. I don't have a garage. I'm not sure my cuttings will survive the winter in pots. What's your feeling about that. Should I put them into the ground in the fall?
I love this place! I can't wait to visit this year with my bf and show him how beautiful & magical a place it is ❤
What fun! Thanks for the lovely tour and Happy Gardening!

I adore lilac bushes…….

They root super easily from cuttings. Any of the suckers have a high rate of becoming a new lilac if you take them up

Show us where you decide to plant them. And, wow, are they beautiful!!!!
I love lilacs! The smell is divine.

Ooh, I'd love to find that one!
Will you be planting these in your garden right away?
No, I potted them up into one gallon pots and anticipate planting them out this winter or next spring. :)
