Food-related for me. Whether it be overspending on groceries that I never eat or eating out too frequently. That's where I get hammered every month and that is the one area I've always struggled with.
I will be forever thankful to you, you changed my life I will continue to speak on your behalf for the world to hear that you saved me from huge financial debt with just a little trade, thank you Jihan Wu you're such a life saver
As a beginner in this, it’s essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. Jihan Wu is also my trade analyst, he has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessments, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns.
Jihan Wu Services has really set the standard for others to follow, we love him here in Canada 🇨🇦 as he has been really helpful and changed lots of life's
If you all watch Kate Kayden remember gift cards are still in play. You didn't spend that money, the business already has it. You may as well take advantage of it
I like to spend money for friends and invite them to something because I know they'd do the same for me. However, in my opinion there is a difference between being genuinely generous and just spending money unnecessarily.
I'm super generous, except with myself. I have no friends or any close relationship at all, and as much as I detest the loneliness, I am glad I'm not spending like I did years ago.
12:04 I love this portion, and it’s something I’ve learned over the years with doing my own January challenges. My main goal for January is “don’t eat out”. But I do have exceptions and “deals” with myself. I allow myself to eat out if it’s with friends/family I haven’t seen in a while or a special event (weddings/birthdays/etc). And while I try to use up what’s in my pantry, I find it best to buy groceries that I KNOW I want to eat, even if that means buying some unhealthy food. Having a bag of frozen fries in my house for example is a motivator to stop me from buying McDonald’s, and it’s much cheaper.
For January, I will not dine out, shop for clothing or buy a lot of food. Instead, I will eat everything in my freezer, refrigerator and pantry. (Let’s see how that goes.). Happy New Year, Austin!
Or you just find someone who doesn't mind paying your bills. I can't remember when I bought a drink to anyone but myself and so far none of my friends ditched me.
One of my goals is to stop wasting food. I’m going to put a container in my fridge where I put all leftovers, and I will go to that first before I use other food. Small, but it’s something I need to do.
Remember when we were kids, and we were out and saw a restaurant and asked mom to take us there and she'd reply "We have food at home"? Now we understand, don't we?
We would eat out one a month as a family and we always joke about my dad telling the waitor, "Water for everyone." You save like $20 on a table just by not getting soda.
Our one big treat in the 1950s was 5 hamburgers for $1. There were 5 of us, so even Dad ate only one. Then we’d go to a drive-in movie (carload for $1) and have snacks Mom had made at home, usually popcorn and Kool-Aid. Fun family time!
Two days in to my low spend for January and so far I’ve paid rent, got groceries for my home, replaced my dog’s toy basket because his was broken, and spent a gift card I had for a new sweater!
Here’s how I curbed my spending & increased my gratitude. Each month I matched my spending by category to a charity. Spent $100 dining out? Make a $100 donation to the food bank. If I can eat out, others should be able to just eat. Bought a new sweater or purse? Match the amount to a battered women’s shelter, they can use new clothes after fleeing violence. Went on vacation? Match it dollar for dollar to a homeless shelter. If I can afford to sleep AWAY FROM HOME, someone else should have a safe place to stay. What I learned was gratitude for how much I have. I also thought harder about spending bc it meant I’d basically pay double for that sweater or meal, did I want it THAT badly? And, it ramped up my charitable giving by making it happen every month when I could tie it to my actual abundance, instead of waiting til year end when I might feel miserly about matching that same $6000 I spent over the year dining out (yep, at $500/mi, which is easy to do - that’s $6k!) It only took a couple months to get this habit down and totally changed how I spend, how I give & how lucky I feel about my life.
We lost nearly everything in the 3 hurricanes we recently had. I only have the clothes for our super super hot summer, heat indexes were 115, we lost siding on every side of our house and our hurricane shutters were ripped off and found 4 streets away. The flooding is what did it for us, twice. We had to rack up our credit cards and we must get out of debt.
My exception to these tips this year, is that rather than ‘using up what is in my pantry’ I am actively stocking up on non-perishable food. I am expecting food prices to rise quite a bit if Tariffs actually do happen, so I am SAVING money long term by stocking up ahead of time. Dry goods, canned goods, spices, olive & coconut oil, paper goods, toiletries, etc. These are all essential items that will get used up eventually. The first part of January 2025 is the threshold to buy them before possible tariffs are enacted.
I started in December to save for Christmas. I Deleted Amazon and restaurant aps, canceled every paid streaming service, canceled door dash (😢). Kept walmart+ because its paid for. Still had plenty to watch on free services, i didnt starve, i even had groceries delivered (saves me from impulse buying). I am NOT watching youtube commercials, so that is my splurge😂
Thank you for the encouragement. I decided to try a no spend January about a week ago. I even made a big bold note on my desk that says NO SPEND JANUARY to remind me. I already did some of what you suggested like stocking up on paper towels and other items I use daily while they were on sale. I got all my shelter and transportation expenses paid up for the month. I got what I think should be enough cash to get me through. I’m hoping this will help me build good habits.
I'm in massive debt right now and can't pay my bills til the last minute (or have to dip into what "savings" are left). I've knocked out a LOT of other expenses the past few months in hopes of at least cutting off the leaky faucet until I can get another job that pays better. Even if that other job materialized today, it will take a LONG time to get to some point where I have flexible spending again. These tips will help me keep on track to get out of debt and my goals. I'm a simple person at heart and don't need to live like a flashy millionaire, but I've made a lot of bad impulse buys and choices over the years & need to focus on the things I already have instead of getting new stuff or hobbies.
Real talk: I always underestimate how much I spend on small stuff-$5 coffee here, a $2 snack there. By the end of the month, I’ve saved a whole month’s rent!
Every year I will try to extend the No-Spend Challenge to the end of March. Been doing this the last 3 years with great success. Stocked-up on food & supplies in November & December, weather is very cold where I live and is very slippery outside (high risk of falling), so being retired, it's a good time to go into the hibernation/hands-in-the-pocket mode. The money I save gets divided up and goes to paying off debt, increasing investment income and spending money for my yearly trip. All are great motivators when you are depriving yourself while others are spending!
I have a tip, which I am trying to use to pay down my credit card. Instead of outright buying absolutely nothing. I did the subscription reset and put $300 on a prepaid credit card. Thus now I am able to keep the subscriptions I want, plus I have a budget of $250 to spend on random stuff of I want, while also paying down my credit card. I found myself in a loop of paying $1000 to my cc in a month and putting like $700 on it again by the time the next pay rolled around. Hopefully now, basically doing a budgeted cc, it'll help shape my spending habit while paying down debt and not feeling like I am depriving myself.
I am doing a no spend januari and a low-only if i truly need it- rest of my life. I am sick and tiered of not having anything left before the end of the month, stress about bills/finances, having sleeess night and a house cluttered up of stuff i actually dont ned and get rid of later and therefore seeing my money leaving my house
I knew I had overspent on gifting for 2024 (deliberately for good reasons), so I audited my on-line orders and put the figures into my financial journal. I did so in order to see where I could cut down. This is the strategy I came up with when I created my 2025 no spend year budget. I listed all the people I needed to have birthday presents for, Christmas presents for, and how much for charity. I created a list of people (21) I need to buy for birthdays & Christmas. I separated each in order, with columns:name, gift, reg price, price I paid, amount saved and will keep record as I purchase. I have already implemented my spending plan. I took stock of gifts I had purchased, recorded them in my journal, created revised list & did some boxing day shopping. This weekend, I will be picking up on sale 3 more gifts, leaving me with only 3 birthday presents and 2 Christmas presents left to buy for in 2025. Once I pick up those gifts I will have only spent $288.04 CAD ($200 US) which is within my budget of $500/year CAD ($348 US) =$425 for gifts & $75 for charity. Then I know I have only 5 presents left to buy and for who. I will record further purchases to prevent overspending. This one part of my no spend strategy that has worked in past years.
Every week I buy more of whatever is the lowest percentage of my portfolio and try to keep everything around 10%. Please what could be my safest buys with $400k to outperform the market in 2025
I'd avoid the index funds, mutual funds, or specific stocks for the time being. The 5% fixed incomes are the safest bet for now. Save your cash for when the market actually shows sign of recovery.
This is why I entrusted a fiduciary with my investmnt decisions. Many underestimate advisors until emotions lead to losses. My advisor crafted a tailored strategy aligning with my long-term goals, guiding entry and exit points for the equities I focus on. This has grown my portfolio to over $850k. My personal best so far
I’m cautious about giving specific recommendations as everyone's situation varies. You may consider independent financial advisors like 'ZAREEN GRACE CHURCH I've worked with her for over 4 years now and I'd gladly commend her exemplary service on a public post.
glad to have stumbled upon this, curiously inputted her on the web, easily spotted her consulting page and was able to schedule a call session. Ive seen commentary about advisers but not this phenomenal
love the idea of taking advantage of the natural desire to hibernate this month! Thanks for your work, and Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year to you and us all!
"What you are allowed to replace" makes me think of a washing machine, a fridge, an oven, etc. You can't restock those. The benifit of deprivation is an excellent point.
Thank you, Austin! Great tips to stay away of spending money like crazy. 👍 I love the tip of using everything what we have in our food pantry. We will save money 💰 Happy new year everyone. 🎉
Yeah, good idea. I only spend on rent and on my business anyway, and I ran out of money a few days ago. I will have over $1000 revenue from my business this month, but I'm just going to let it sit until Feb. I need the mental rest.
Every month and every holiday is designed to spend. January: Home improvement February: Valentines March: St. Patricks Day April: Easter May: Memorial day June: LGBT and Juneteenth July: 4th July August: Back to school September: Labor day October: Halloween November: Thanksgiving December: Christmas The system is designed to squeeze every dime and penny out of us.
I think it could be helpful as long as it’s stuff you need. If you buy those items before your No Buy period you won’t be tempted to buy other crap you don’t need.
Let's hope we can cross that mark this year! I felt a bit exhausted by last July after 2 years of 2 videos a week and moved down, but now I feel very refreshed for 2025!
I will be forever grateful to you, you changed my entire life and I will continue to preach on your behalf for the whole world to hear you saved me from huge financial debt with just a small investment, thank you Charlotte Miller.
I'm celebrating a $30k stock portfolio today. started this journey with 6k. I have invested on time and also with the right terms now I have time for my family and the life ahead of me
She is my family's personal broker and also a personal broker in many families I'm United States, she's a licensed broker and a FINRA AGENT in United states
I just withdrew my profits a week ago, To be honest it was an amazing feeling when the profits hits my wallet I wish I could reinvest but, too much bills
The library has a lot of great dvds and blue rays including tv shows/movies/ documentaries not to mention all the books all for free. The library has been my ally when it come to entertainment.
So far I'm doing good, approaching retirement with about 800k in savings. Transitioning from building wealth to spending can be scary, especially with soaring inflation. My question is, after maxing out my tax-advantaged retirement accounts, what next?
in my opinion, some financial situations can be handled on your own if you research enough, while others are best navigated in consultation with a financial advisor
Agreed, the role of advisors can only be overlooked but not denied. I was shocked that I made more money with investing than hard work, not even my CEO income. Earning ''return on investment'' fetched me millions within a space of 5 yrs.(But I still enjoy working)
sounds great! i've never utilized a financial advisor but enthused about making money from the stock market, could you be kind enough with info of the advisor guiding you please? I could really use some guidance
Personally, I've stuck with Melissa Terri Swayne and her performance has been consistently impressive. You can confirm her basic info on the internet, she's quite known in her field with over 15yrs of experience.
Thank you for the information. I conducted my own research on. google and your advisor appears to be highly skilled and knowledgeable. I've sent her an email and arranged a phone call. Her expertise is impressive, and I'm eagerly anticipating our conversation.
Thank you Austin, I truly appreciate your advice…and your videos. I’ll have to listen to you more often. Probably on a daily base in the beginning…😉…THANK YOU ❤
The best mindset to begin the New Year, one day at a time, ty. This motivational video well needed, better than others, ty. Needing the day to day accountability. You are leading by example. Having a gratitude mindset, accountability and videos like yours, ty. Happy and blessed 2025👏
When grocery shopping and am checking out the snacks I use the vending machine as my guide. Sure $4 is a lot to spend on snacks by the box (6 to 10). But the vending machine offers the same snack for $1.25 to $1.75 ea. and the expiration date is tomorrow. I noticed the vending price increased when the Thrift Store for baked goods shut down.
First thing I. Going to do is cancel Amazon Prime. We rarely watch anything on Prime, and no delivery/return fees is a big temptation to buy non-essentials.
I have limited me "no spend" January to physical (or digital) items that are unnecessary and only focus on food, hygenic products if really needed or meds. I will still grand myself spendings for enjoyment like going out for dinner or the cinema every once in a while but still paying attention to the spendings at those events. E.g. not buying expensive snacks or having extra desserts. Besides I only do each of those like once or max. twice a month anyway. I am very curious how much money I am going to save. Additionally, I have an extra project where I plan my meals for a whole week and only go to the grocery store once a week (or twice but only if I need fresh veggies or fruit). Before I used to go several times a week even when my fridge was full but my cravings wanted something else I would just go buy it. This way I want to eat healthier and save time and money.
Best way to deal with it is to avoid going to stores and stop looking online. And I agree that this holiday season is exhausting- I am thankful for no more parties to plan for or go to. I love that you want people to track their spending, but it will add more time and stress to my life. I dont need to see the numbers to know that I am going in the right direction…
Its not actually extreme the longer i do it the easier it is. I have no desire for material things anymore. Have been enjoying life with piece of mind. @FatPandaCries
A famous german Economic scientist said that lack of consumption is only deprevation if you feel entitled to the thing in the first place (I dont know if thw concept translates well, but for me it was really eye-opening)
My sister and her husband are staying with us. Money is tight for them. Apparently it's not cheap living in Indiana. We keep trying to talk them into renting our house. It's a cape cod. Theyre in their 70's and not fired up about our stairs. This is the 3rd week. They regularly buy food to replace what they have eaten. Our cape is small. 4 adults, 2 dogs, and 2 cats mean things are tight. They insist on helping with dinner. New Years was a buffet of sandwiches. I had ordered a party platter, they bought a rotisserie chicken and french bread. I had made homemade onion dip and she bought a sweet potato pie. It was a sizable meal. I'm the youngest at 59. We fell asleep after 8. We had some alcohol, then went to bed. We are enjoying each other's company, but my schedule is weird. We are not spending small amounts to feed 4 people. They're planning to move back here. My sister hates lake effect snow. This is not going to be a no spend month.
Happy New Year, Austin! I am already going to do the no spend month. Great idea! Can we see a new apartment tour soon? Hope so! Give Star a hug from me!
I adopted frugality to gain more freedom and given my circumstances i could say im halfway there i can work in what i love but...im struggling with the mental aspect of it.
In December I put three hundred dollars on my grocery giftcard, And prepaid utilities. I have a pretty deep pantry, So three hundred dollars is great plenty for perishables. I am not shopping for anything besides a small amount of food.
@ElAgustin do a video on grocery shopping, myself I do a carnivore diet for health reasons, but my family does not, I don’t buy anything already besides groceries but I’m spending 40, 50, 60 dollars a day on groceries, and that’s just mostly dinner. And maybe normal other things you would get at the store like toilet paper tin foil, condiments etc.
I’d rather just go make more money. Trying to pinch pennies is a small way of thinking. I’m not saying that people should blow all their income regardless of income but people need to start thinking 5x bigger. Trying to pinch pennies and not increase your income is self limiting behavior.
It's more about becoming aware of your behavior. Spending your valuable time to make more money, vs budgeting tight for a month and discovering where your money goes- pointless impulse shopping, subscriptions you don't use, etc. It could be hundreds of dollars - or more- a month. It's far better to see that and become more deliberate in your spending, than to spend hours more making extra money to blow on crap you don't want or need.
Let me make it easier for you all. If you don't have the money it comes automatically. To be honest I spend my december money paying bills. I only have money over to buy important stuff like groceries. The challenge will be spending right to have enough until the next paycheck. I need to build back up financially.
What's one bad habit you want to stop doing in 2025?
Not tracking my expense. Very guilt tripping 😂
@@ThinkingJamesuse one card for everything. You probably have maximum 3 things you can’t buy with a card. Problem solved
Buying too many clothes.
I am working on being more mindful of where I spend my money. Your channel has been a real help to me.❤️😻🐈⬛🐈💕
Food-related for me. Whether it be overspending on groceries that I never eat or eating out too frequently. That's where I get hammered every month and that is the one area I've always struggled with.
Hit 240k today Appreciate you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started with 24k in September 2024..
I would really love to know how much work you did put in to get to this stage

I consider myself a generous person, but I am so tired of spending money! Bring on no spend January❤❤❤
Same here😂
Same!😅

Hibernation month! I love that!
I'm doing a no spend January and Feb .I take lunch to work every day, I make coffee at home all time time.
FIGHT to keep your money from the corporations who try to tempt you to give it away to them!!!
Good thing I have no friends and cheap so no stress for me in these holidays 😊
I'm super generous, except with myself. I have no friends or any close relationship at all, and as much as I detest the loneliness, I am glad I'm not spending like I did years ago.

Smart girl!!

I do this pretty regularly. I have a small stock of food for the Apocalypse which I will rotate during fridge/pantry challenges.
One of my goals is to stop wasting food. I’m going to put a container in my fridge where I put all leftovers, and I will go to that first before I use other food. Small, but it’s something I need to do.

Good intention and the best of luck❤
Eating thru pantry and freezer in January!

I pray for you and your family and hope you have a speedy recovery! 🙏
Sheesh, hopefully you recover and can eventually move. Sounds like a bad place to be
I'm so sorry for what you've gone through/ are going through. Best wishes to you and your family!
Consider moving to a more weather stable area. It's usually cheaper too to live there.

Deleting shopping apps on phone helps to get off from crap things at home in 2025, do it now. No more online shops🎉

Yesss i should do it with klarna 😬
And delete the user/password details from browser otherwise you use website rather than app

I am glad happy content with my lifestyle. I already cut out all. I am already doing all I can. I just need to keep up.
I feel like it's time to pause buying clothes and subscriptions for me. Love your sense of humor, eres el mejor 👍

Definitely been doing this for several years. It’s a great way to reassess your spending habits, see what worked well and pay off any holiday debt
About to get rid of my Amazon app👏🏼
I am going for a no spend 2025….( particularly buying home duckorations) Really looking forward to it…😃👌🏽.
I actually buy what i need in January in sales. Lasts me a year. And time off internet saved.
Gas (as needed), food (shop on Sunday for the week), bills.
My personal best so far
impressive gains! how can I get your advlsor please, if you dont mind me asking? I could really use a help as of now
I’m cautious about giving specific recommendations as everyone's situation varies.
Happy new year. Thank you.
Happy New Year Everyone 🥂🥳
Happy New Year! 🎉
Muchas gracias por los buenos consejos😃
Feliz año 2025🎉
Love the lesson on Deprivation. So very true. Thank You. And, God Bless You-- greatly 🙏 in 2025.
The pantry (panty) reference! 😂😂
Definitely not my only takeaway from this video, but it made me laugh.
Yeah I had to back it up and listen to it twice... It was exactly what I thought I heard! It was a little weird but I figured it was a mistake.😂
lol. These are the things I think abut when I'm sitting at the camera recording.
I had to listen to that part again 😂 Did I hear that right?
I kinda cringed but I'm not in a silly mood today so that's a me thing.😂
"What you are allowed to replace" makes me think of a washing machine, a fridge, an oven, etc. You can't restock those. The benifit of deprivation is an excellent point.
Hopefully these things last years and don't need to be replaced often!
Thank you, Austin! Great tips to stay away of spending money like crazy. 👍
I love the tip of using everything what we have in our food pantry.
We will save money 💰
Happy new year everyone. 🎉
Yeah, good idea. I only spend on rent and on my business anyway, and I ran out of money a few days ago. I will have over $1000 revenue from my business this month, but I'm just going to let it sit until Feb. I need the mental rest.
Ready, set, go. I am in!
Every month and every holiday is designed to spend.
January: Home improvement
February: Valentines
March: St. Patricks Day
April: Easter
May: Memorial day
June: LGBT and Juneteenth
July: 4th July
August: Back to school
September: Labor day
October: Halloween
November: Thanksgiving
December: Christmas
The system is designed to squeeze every dime and penny out of us.
Don't forget mother's days ,anniversaries birthdays retirement party's. Ect ect
I think stocking up on items the month before is counter productive.
It's like the "don't buy gas day" so everyone fills up the day before.
I think it could be helpful as long as it’s stuff you need. If you buy those items before your No Buy period you won’t be tempted to buy other crap you don’t need.
Happy New Year Agustin! Thanks for all your content and here's to 200k subs in 2025! 🎉🥂
I have invested on time and also with the right terms now I have time for my family and the life ahead of me
The very first time we tried, we invested $1000 and after a week, we received $7500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.
She is my family's personal broker and also a personal broker in many families I'm United States, she's a licensed broker and a FINRA AGENT in United states
I'm new at this, please how can I reach her?
I just withdrew my profits a week ago, To be honest it was an amazing feeling when the profits hits my wallet I wish I could reinvest but, too much bills
The library has a lot of great dvds and blue rays including tv shows/movies/ documentaries not to mention all the books all for free.
The library has been my ally when it come to entertainment.
Happy new year austin!!
First day today,I’m anxious 😬 but I’m going through it I’m not stopping.
Hola Agustin!! Happy 2025! All the best!!
You as well!
Deleting shopping apps helps me so much. Out of sight out of mind.
Thanks for your kind words and watching! Have a wonderful 2025!
Hey really enjoy this video got me wanting to get my creative juices flow and keep up with the great work and stay positive on this TH-cam journey
😊😊🎉
Please do posts on the toxic side of index funds, drug/alcohol addiction, and review the book Voluntary Simplicity
This whole concept is funny. People buy a bunch of stuff to stock up then " no spend" in January. Probably the net spending is the same.
I tried to commit to no spend and its already been eye opening and it is day 2!!!!
Only use cash is the key 🔑
Thanks for posting this but I been doing no spend 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024
11:24
😂
Its not actually extreme the longer i do it the easier it is. I have no desire for material things anymore. Have been enjoying life with piece of mind. @FatPandaCries
👍
Good for you, that means this video doesn’t apply to you.
Eating out, alcohol and daily coffees are a big wallet emptier.
I’m up for this ElAgustin!
Happy new year 🎉🎉
Ime going to try this for 6mths 😊
A famous german Economic scientist said that lack of consumption is only deprevation if you feel entitled to the thing in the first place
(I dont know if thw concept translates well, but for me it was really eye-opening)
That's very true!
Happy New Year Austin! 🎉😊 As always a new brilliant video. 🤗
Thanks so much!
Another great video - Please tell me about the wood world map on your wall - Thank you
Happy New Year Austin! 🎉
Happy new year!
Happy New Year, Austin! I am already going to do the no spend month. Great idea! Can we see a new apartment tour soon? Hope so! Give Star a hug from me!
I'll put it on the list!
Trying to save and invest everything
Same. My ultimate goal is to live off passive income via rent from tenants, interest and dividends. Can't wait to get there!
I recommend everyone to find the book titled The Elite Society's Money Manifestation, It changed my life.
Yeah, I’m sure you just joined TH-cam 2 days ago to let us all know hahahhaa. Scammer.
Austin Rocks! 😎👍🏻
@ElAgustin do a video on grocery shopping, myself I do a carnivore diet for health reasons, but my family does not, I don’t buy anything already besides groceries but I’m spending 40, 50, 60 dollars a day on groceries, and that’s just mostly dinner. And maybe normal other things you would get at the store like toilet paper tin foil, condiments etc.
happy new year to you nice singing Voice
Thanks!
Happy new years🎉
I got yelled at by my dad the other day for spending money when the bills are due. It’s almost like this video was suggested to me for a reason.😅
Thx you so much for this video and the advice. This is going to help me so much. Especially the advice about the extreme part.
Thanks for watching!
I usually do this all winter no spending months because I make more during the summer. 😂
Happy New Year to you!🥂👍
Happy new year!
thats just what i needed
I don't see the point. Then what do you do with the money that you didn't spend?
This is a great video
Thanks for the tips. Happy New Year 🎉
Thanks for watching, Emily!
Happy New Year, Austin!
Happy New Year!
Let me make it easier for you all. If you don't have the money it comes automatically. To be honest I spend my december money paying bills. I only have money over to buy important stuff like groceries. The challenge will be spending right to have enough until the next paycheck. I need to build back up financially.
I try to do that all year. Just a couple of small bone head purchases last year.
I am doing a no/low spend year.
