You can give yourself a bit of advantage to have more wing flights to work with late in the season. Nothing worse than a half an 8th flight, no 9th flight and a 10th flight.
@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons Very true. Question, the reason one shouldn't race a bird with missing the 9th or 10th is because the bird will have a hard time flying or because it will hurt the bird? Or both?
I have won big races with pigeons that are missing the 9th flight or the 10th flight but this is rare. If the bird must go to a big futurity race I will ship it. The pigeon is at a disadvantage because much power comes from those last few flights. If the bird is in super health and condition it will not hurt the bird to ship it with the 9th flight growing in so you can see the feather or a full nine flights and no tenth flight. If the 10th flight is more than an inch of so while growing in tends to flop around in flight. Much better to have a full nine flights and tiny or no 10th than say a full nine and a half a tenth flight.
@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons wow Frank, holly molly... the enlightenment you are providing us new comers to the sport is extraordinary! Ever since you started your channel you have allowed for the less experienced to gain invaluable knowledge to allow for a more level plainfield while competing with the most experienced fanciers, and that only helps the sport. I big thank you.
This will work for all flights but the molt on the first several flights does not effect the pigeons much. All the power is generated from the end flights so you want as much wing as possible.
Thank you Sir!
Super nice tip Frank, 😮 that is super valuable, never knew that! Thank you for sharing!

You are too nice and I hope I can help and make this game easier for all.
