- This video will help you flash the Alpha TWRP on your OnePlus 8T and root your device with magisk without the hassle of manually patching the boot image using fastboot. As of now this TWRP does not support flashing OxygenOS based roms. But in future it might be supported, check the twrp thread to know about the bugs.

Common Problems and Fixes
1. While flashing twrp, if you get an error saying can't load 'twrp.img' file not found, don't panic it's because the twrp file didn't get renamed correctly. I have provided a link with fix in the description.
Follow the steps in link number 4) and enable show file extensions. After enabling, rename your twrp file again. It was probably renamed as 'twrp.img.img' change it to just 'twrp.img' and then normally follow the flashing instructions and it will work.
I have also mentioned some fix videos in description if your device doesn't get detected in fastboot mode or if you get an error saying too many links. Check link number 5) and 6) for this.

This is a great guide and I can confirm it still works as of Jan 23rd 2022. I made a backup of nonroot partitions before flashing magisk though.
@AB15 Press the backup button in TWRP and swipe to backup.

After installing TWRP on stock OS, tried flashing Magisk zip. Everything is okay on TWRP, but the app was not installed on the system. Any ideas why that is?
That sounds strange, did you try restarting your device to check if the app appears?
@@nichetech2193 I've tried flashing and done a subsequent restart a few times. I even tried installing the APK manually afterwards and it says I that Magisk is not installed

I tried to flash the stock recovery of the latest oxygen os version, but it still boots into the bootloader, recovery is just missing, lol

@@nichetech2193 , never mind, I was flashing boot image instead of recovery, haha. Regarding the method, u have to use this payload dumper, which u use for rooting and it will contain a file called recovery.img

Bro, it will only work if you have an unlocked bootloader. If you manage to unlock bootloader, you can flash twrp and magisk like I did in this video.

@Petar Peurača the method for unlocking bootloader is different for T-Mobile devices. If you can unlock your bootloader by following some other guide, you can use this tutorial to flash twrp and root.

@@kezo4626 No bro it's not the twrp, another user had faced this and it is because the file gets renamed to twrp.img.img.
If you see i have put in info card links (near the part where I rename twrp file) in the video where it is shown how to enable file extension in windows file manager. After you enable it, the hidden extension will be visible and then you'll see that twrp is renamed twice.
Just rename it correctly to twrp.img and it will flash correctly.

Yes, there are many custom roms available for the 8T, I am personally using Xtended rom on mine right now.

1. Switch slot from twrp reboot menu (just click on the other slot and go back don't reboot or anything(
2. Flash rom and twrp installer
3. Reboot to recovery (don't change slots)
4. Format data
5. Reboot system

Sadly no, this method does not work on android 12. Twrp still doesn't support decryption on android 12 roms so it's not useful to flash it because you won't be able to access your internal storage through twrp.

Flashing rom is very simple,
1. Switch slot
