Played since release rtx 3080 4K +60fps all my games. No problem. I already played in 4K resolution RTX 2080S 8GB times without problems. In reality, the 3080 will be enough for years to come
Yeah it’s just a matter of dialing back some setting for these different GPUs. There’s an idea out there than anything less than ultra max settings isn’t good enough but it sure can be
Not the 10GB model. RE4R and Deadspace remake eat up over 10gb easily at 4k. deadspace is litraly unplayble at 4k because of the 10gb limit.. the game becomes a slide show. and RE4R crashes when it exeeds vram. I dread to think how its going to perform on S.T.A.l.K.E.R 2 when it comes out.

@@djam7484Only at max setting, or...? I play at 1440p anyway so it doesn't bother me, but I don't like the trend. I believe 12gb will be enough until next gen consoles, but terrible optimization is a big problem. I wanted to get a 3080, but I got a great deal for a 3080 ti, which I got in early 2022 from a friend for whom it was overkill, so I traded my 1070 and gave him 300 euros😁

It is enough... Because the games from 2021-2024 look exactly the same as the games when the 3080 came out which was 2020. Nothing has moved anywhere in 4 years. They're just trying to make it more difficult for you to go and buy a graphics card.
In 2026, the RTX 4080 will be exactly the same, where it has high values in today's games and in the games of 2027 it will have the same values as the RTX 3080 today, the graphics will still look the same. Nothing in the games moves so fast forward or at least I didn't find it in those games that required more and more performance every 3 years.
Bad game states are only targeted at amrketing. Nothing else.

i got a 3080 for 4k gaming. back on it's release. for the most part it ran stuff well but not everything the 10gb is a limiting factor. waiting for a 5090 later this year so I can experince cyberpunk and alan wake and all the newer titles properly.

I bought a rog strix 3080 last night for 400 bucks and its a beast of card with the i5 13600kf.
Agreed, that is a well balanced combo. I have the EVGA FTW3 version with a 13600kf in my backup rig and it pushes my 4k 144hz monitor with no issues. Are you running ddr5?
yes I am ddr5 5600 cl 28. I was told by a person that works on pcs that the cl 28 was great for gaming, even if the mhz was a little lower. Not sure if that is correct or what "cl" means for that matter. @@jskop566

I believe 4k is doable since RTX 2080. Although people think you gotta run it at ultra 120fps. Nah! Medium settings 60fps is very good looking at 4k.

I have 2k monitor, so i always play on 2k resolution, and my 3080 is more than enough for me in 1440p gaming. Because of that, i fully skipped 40 series cards and wait for 50 series to upgrade because i don't feel to be needed to upgrade my gpu to 40 series for 1440p gaming.

this definitely showed that I need a better cpu from my 3080, my game drops to 50 in dog town on high settings at 1440p. Even with a cpu overclock.
Thank you for this. The 3080 is an excellent card and one of my personal favorites, yet its often overlooked because of the vram.

3080 vs 6800xt?
6800xt has more VRAM which matters a lot if you are looking to play ar 4K.
You should try Alan Wake 2 again with the 3080, but with the dlssg to fsr3 mod, since that will allow frame generation on 20 and 30 series cards. Just to experiment.

@@PuffinTechYT I think it would be interesting with either or both cards. I have a 3080 myself. I'd say try it with both if you can fit it into one video, just to see the results between both of them.
4k dlss q means 1440p
Idk if dlss q on a 4k monitor is better looking than on a native 1440p monitor
Anyway I have a qd oled 34inch ultrawide so I don’t really care until 4k ultrawide comes out
4k dlss q doesn’t mean 1440p, that’s too much of an oversimplification of what’s going on. DLSS is a temporal upscaling method, which means it uses data from previous frames and jitters them to assemble a higher resolution output while using AI to clean up artifacts and resolve detail. DLSS is much better than simple upscaling because traditional upscaling simply makes up data where there is none, while temporal methods use actual data from previous frames, it’s actually really good.
Edit: just to address whether DLSS q looks better on a 4k display than native 1440p, yes it does, there is more data in the 4k DLSS image

@@HikaruID you dont even need a 4090 tbh even if you're targeting 4k 120fps, a 4070ti super could get the job done, unless you wanna run ultra max settings at high fps then yeah rtx 4090 or 4080 super

i can assure you that closer to native rendering with good AA or even super sampled kicks dlss' butt, and this is not even up for debate, its demonstrably better
I think that 3080 is not strong enough for 4K. God of war 4 launched in 2022, 1 year and 3 month after 3080 was presented, and it doesn't have 60 stable fps.
I hope that 4080 super will show better result next 3 years than 3080

The only true 4k card is the 4090.
Plenty of cards can offer a good experience at 4k
uhm i have a 4090 and 4k is just not very optimal even on that card,
It’s all about what your individual wants and needs are as a gamer. If you feel the need to crank all of the settings to ultra at native resolution then sure, but not everyone sees that as necessary to have a good experience.
@@MrJamergamer, how is it not optimal? Because you can't do path tracing in cyberpunk? I can run ultra settings at 4k with my 3080ti and I still get 60fps in almost all of my games. Starfield struggles but is still very playable. You don't need 9000 fps for it to be optimal.
@@AtteroDominatus well as i said i have a 4090 and with everything on it gets about 80-100 fps and this is only with dlss and framegen, youre not running it 4k youre running it upscaled, and the latency is very noticable, 1440p has way better responsivness
