    Hi Craig,
    I was at the match yesterday, and one thing that stood out for me was the Southampton supporters.
    Bottom of the league with only 6 points and 31k+ turned out to see their team, and they never stopped singing. It made for a great afternoon.

      @Bennyboy138 วันที่ผ่านมา +15

      He wasn’t benched for Longstaff. That’s the big myth that people believe. Longstaff started ahead of Tonali to begin with because Tonali hadn’t kicked a ball for 10 months, and he needed to get back up to speed with Eddies style of training gradually and carefully, and the plan was always for Tonali to start ahead of Longstaff and then never come out the team…and yes while he was on the bench for us he played 90 mins twice for Italy but that was the Nations League which are basically glorified friendlies that nobody gives a shit about, so he could easily stroll through 90 mins of those games because they don’t come close to the intensity of the Premier League. Eddie carefully nurtured Tonali back into the squad, the intensity & the system and look at him now

    Isak has been our best player this season for me. Not just his goals, but his link up play and leading the line are the reasons we have been winning games rather than drawing them.
    While the midfield 3 have been excellent, especially Tonali deeper and Bruno between the lines, they are not destroying the opposition. Take today, at 1-0 down there was so much space for Southampton in midfield when we got the press wrong. Even when we were 3-1 up, our midfield 3 can be passive at times as Howe just tells them to hold their shape and limit the space between midfield and defence - but how many times have I seen one pass get through that screen and the opposition are in a threatening position. Don't get me wrong, it is usually effective in limiting the opposition but it offers less control than being in possession or how we use to play where Burn was LB and tucked in. The current way leaves the full backs 1v1 often and this can lead to crosses/ cut backs which have resulted in goals. Bournemouth's high press is by far the best pressing tactic I have seen this season and our midfield couldn't cope, a big reason being Joelinton's lack of technical qualities for quick control/passing football to beat it - I would love for Miley to be given a run in that midfield.
    Great win today but we must follow it up with another win against Fulham.

      @andrewcharlton6080 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@johnenglish929It’s going to take time for Newcastle to grow to the point when they can be legitimately be considered one of the best 4 teams in the league.
      Until then we can’t expect to be finishing in CL places every season. We’ve deserved to finish where we have for the last couple of seasons but we are massive underdogs and will be for some time. Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea can spend so much more than us, until that changes we have to hope 2-3 of them have bad seasons and so far we’ve been a little lucky too. If they all get their act together we’ll struggle to finish ahead of them.
      It’ll probably take 5 years until we have a similar revenue to any of those teams, we probably won’t challenge for the title in the next 3-4 years (hopefully we’ll get closer though), so we have to be realistic and realise that players like Isak, Bruno, Gordon and Tonali won’t be here by the time we are challenging.
      However, that’s fine, the club has bought very well and we will make large profits on them all. They found and bought players of that quality once so they’ll just have to do it again, the sale of these players would let us strengthen in multiple positions though and as a team we’d be stronger.
      I know it’s a lot to expect of the club to replace these players with players of equal quality but that’s why the club hired Mitchell and have expanded the scouting network, they are professionals and we have to trust that if we lost an Isak or Bruno the club would use the money we received to not only replace them but also strengthen the team in other positions.

    The fella on the optus sport broadcast was adamant that it wasn't a pen. It was a stone wall pen for all that has a brain.
    You summed it up well Craig - we have players who can grab a game by the scruff of the neck and drag us over the line.
    We need to be proactive and protect that by making at least one signing in this window. Doesn't need to he blockbuster, we don't need to break the bank.
    See you on the next one 🇦🇿

    Craig, could you find this out please as no one I’ve spoke to seems to know. What happens to Champions League place if:
    *someone outside the top 5 wins the FA Cup
    *if someone in the top 5 wins the FA cup and the other finalist is outside the top 5 do they then get the place
    *Man U or Spurs win Europa league and aren’t in the top 5
    Are 6 places then assigned as CL places, or do one of those teams take the place of the 5th place league side

    • @craighope_dailymail
      @craighope_dailymail  21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      It’s limited to 5 places per country. So if Man U win Europa League and finish 10th, they get CL and 5th gets Europa League.

    Tonali!...if Longstaff was last seasons Dark, well Sandro is this seasons 'Light'......when it takes Longstaff 3 touches to receive, control, and pass, Sandro lets the ball come to him, and turns onto the ball as it comes past him into an attacking direction, he doesnt even touch the ball! he lets it do the work, just next level footy thinking.....he was a bargain at 60 million. Now, imagine if we bought Kleivert!

    I still think we're defensively weak - me fingernails were bitten doon to me elbow. If Southampton had scored their chances it would have been much harder.
    If Isak gets injured we're in big trouble. In terms of this, and so that we keep our best players, we MUST strengthen the squad in the Summer irrespective of PSR.

    Yeah, the commentary was horrendous. Whoever the co-commentator was obviously hates Newcastle. The delusional, biased comments towards Southampton got to a silly stage. It was quite unbelievable. 2 examples were him saying the penalty decision was probably the worst decision he's ever seen, and him saying he hopes they ''don't draw the line straight'' when their offside goal went to VAR. I thought commentators were meant to be neutral??

    Without putting downer on things. Tonali and Bruno are relatively good footballers in modern game but have deficiencies and arent on same level as true greats like Xavi, Pirlo, Totti, Gascoigne.
    Isak has potential to be in conversation with greats of history
    Schar is also one of our best players and the league doesn't get recognised enough.
    Gordon cant dribble well, pass well or shoot well. But some seem to think hes top quality
