I am a white belt. I wasn't able to do any turn throw successfully. I was thinking about abandoning turn throw techniques and switch to using foot sweep and Otoshi Gari only. Then I watch this video yesterday, and in today's training I was able to throw seoi nage smoothly with this technique. I gain confident from this. Thank you very much!
you can try by training your tai sabaki first. if you get it done perfectly then turning throw is easy. for me the foot sweeps are harder since the timing is far more difficult to get.
Exactly the problem I’ve had when attempting seoi nage in the past - the tight grip leading to stiff arms and very little rotation. Great explanation and instruction!
He got some really good points about mistakes us europeans make when attacking with seoi nage. HanpanTV had a similar approach a few years ago. At the end of the day it's about the little details that decide about the outcome of each technic. Koreans are great at seoi nage and this video explains why. Thank you for sharing!
I've got a decent Seoi nage now but that toughest part is doing it when someone has a grip on you. Am I trying to pull down then do it while raising or should I be pushing them and try to time my Seoi when they push back?
I did this move yesterday in a streetlight and I won, I was amazed! the guy actually went over my shoulder and landed on his back. Felt like a badass haha
Hi! I really like this technique but there's one question I have. I didn't try it for myself yet but I suppose its farely easy to overtake Tori with O-Uchi or Ko-Uchi when he bends back like that. Is there a way to prevent this?
I am by no means an expert but I think this kind of seoi nage only goes well with the kind of grip fighting game the koreans play. Very loose hands and grip and go. Often RvL. Europeans tend to go more for the high lapel and a narrower fighting distance what I have seen. The direct control of ukes body mass is becoming more prevalent in that style of grip fighting hence the stiff arms. That s my take why european seoi nage player are stiffer wth their morote
I think it is an important details because throws are no lego buillding blocks which you can put together how you like but are interwoven with the rest of the (gripping and) thrwing system.

Look at the level of detail in this single technique. Judo is really a fine art.

Done fast, and if you’ve successfully off balance the opponent, he has no chance of applying either of those techniques.
I know by other countries he isn't referring to Japan
