Seoul Walk: City Hall (시청), @Line 1 & 2 - Seoul, South Korea [4K]

The Seoul City Hall area is another great place for Seoulites and visitors alike. Having a huge public library, a beautiful palace and the famous Doldamgil street nearby, you definitely won't feel bored out here.
The old fashioned stone building that you see in the beginning, which is now the public library, was in fact the original city hall of Seoul. Owing to the immense growth of the city, the city hall moved to the back into that much larger and much more modern glass building behind the library.
In front of both is a large a beautiful grass patch that often invites locals to do some inner-city picnic or listen to always different musicians giving concerts. Unfortunately when we visited, this grass patch was temporarily occupied by protesters protesting for the release of the impeached former president Park.
Across the street is the Deoksugung palace, also a common venue for concerts and other types of performances - and having a nice selection of both Western and Korean style buildings. Next to it, along the beautiful old brick wall of the palace, follows the Doldamgil street. A great get-away area with an old red-brick church, a nice little fountain right in the middle of the road and many little interesting shops. At the time of our filming, the annual '정동야행' event was preparing to offer interesting night-time lectures and concerts on traditional and modern Arts.
