  • Pokemon Stadium is one of the HARDEST Pokemon Games EVER to be created, but why exactly? It can not be that difficult because it was Gen 1 right? No abilities, 151 Pokemon, basic moves...WRONG

    I JUST Beat this game 3 weeks ago... I tried to beat it with all Rental Pokemon... it took 17 YEARS to finally do it. I'm not even exaggerating either! I was stuck on the Poke Cup Master Ball for 4 years alone... I'd try 3 times a day EVERY DAY! Can you imagine the frustration daily?!?! If Team Rocket was a real organization... I think I would've committed to a life of crime & mischief cause this was an absolute terror. If you own this game or aspire to buy it... GET A TRANSFER PAK! DO NOT BE LIKE ME!! NO PERSON'S HEART SHOULD HAVE TO SUFFER THAT ABUSE!

    Stadium is hard if you're using rental Pokemon. The developers have a clear habit on giving evolved Pokemon worse move sets and giving pre evolved Pokemon good move sets. If your using imported Pokemon from a GB game, it should be way easier.

      @Backstage Bum This is just flat out wrong. Ice is one of the BEST attacking types in Gen 1, especially considering Blizzard has 90% accuracy and the freeze status was permanent, so frozen Pokemon is essentially a dead one. RBY Starmie doesn't even run Water moves in multiplayer, because the only thing it hits harder that Ice doesn't is Fire types, who can't do much back to it anyway, plus Ice was neutral against Fire back then. Meanwhile, Ice combined with Thunderbolt gives you near perfect coverage and takes cares of more relevant and threatening mons like Exeggutor, Zapdos, and Dragonite which would otherwise be tough to take out.

    i downloaded it on pc a few years back. one thing i noticed when reloading quick saves was that battles are scripted. as in, if you use any of your four moves or swap pokemon the game will have a specific response to that AND this extends to critical hits, accuracy, status and damage down to the most fickle percentage. meaning if the game wants you to succeed then you will if it wants you take a dive you will suffer. there'd be times when id be set up to two shot an opponent just for my damage to magically fall off on the 2nd attack. straight bullshit. i knew the game was hard as kid just never realized how unfair it was.

  • @jimmyzeke13
    @jimmyzeke13 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The AI literally does cheat. The opposing trainers take their turn after you do. So, for instance, if you are against a Pokemon using ground moves, and you switch into a flying type Pokemon, the computer will know this beforehand and switch moves to something that can hit you.

    • @Amphax
      @Amphax 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Professor Fuzzymuffins this only happens if you look at your Pokemon. We used to use this to cheat the computer by looking at our Pokemon like we were going to switch and then not switching.
      If you didn't look at your Pokemon the computer wouldn't know you were trying to switch.

    • @Carbonific
      @Carbonific 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The AI does cheat, but not as much as you think and not in the circumstance you described. When the AI notices your Pokemon has a chance to be KOed by one of its coverage moves, it will favor using one of them. This is true even if the chance to KO is very small. For example, if you had a low HP Arcanine against Lapras and you switched out Arcanine for a Grass-type such as Venusaur, it might switch from using Surf to Ice Beam as you did so because Arcanine had a chance to be KOed by Ice Beam even if that chance wasn't very high. This feature exists in the newer games too for trainers set to the harder AI, although there are contextual reasons why this is less noticable.
      The AI does also take the secondary effects of moves into account when deciding which to use. For example, it will favor using Body Slam over an otherwise stronger attack if the foe won't be KOed by another move and is faster.
      The AI also doesn't care if you look at your moves/Pokemon. Its move selection is unaffected.

    R-1 is doable but tough.
    The only real challenge is Pika Cup battles 7 and 8. Everything else can be overcome fairly easy. I watched my brother do everything with rentals. Using things like Jigglypuff and Pikachu. I still dont get how he did it to this day.
    R-2 is suicide with rentals however and I honestly would not recommend playing it unless you import your own Pokemon.
    1 thing sucks is that most of the most useful movesets that some Pokemon like Alakazam can get require trading to GSC or getting certain Pokemon at a lower levels like a level 5 Arcanine.
    Finally they cheat. "Lucky" crits as well as illegal/impossible moveset combinations. All that aside I loved this game and hope we get a true sequel to it.

    I played Pokemon Stadium a lot when I was a kid, and I pretty much cheesed it by just using the legendary birds throughout. But then when I got to the Elite 4 and the Rival, it became really hard. I think I've only beaten Gym Leader Castle once in my entire life. The worst part is that, iirc, you can take on an even harder Gym Leader Castle after doing a bunch of other stuff in the game and you can also fight Mewtwo.

    Pokemon stadium was originally sold with the transfer pak included in the box. I was able to pick up a trasfer pak at local retro game store for $5.
    While it is possible to win with the rental pokemon, it is difficult to make sure most players use the transfer pak to trade from any generation 1 game into pokemon stadium to get better attacks and some of those unusual ev and iv points on your pokemon.
    Planning to build a portable N64 with the transfer pak giving it a gameboy color slot, but it will take time to do so.

    I remember using that because randomly picking rental Pokemon wasn't cutting it and I didn't want to try using my team from the GB and screw up putting them back in. (I was little and only sort of got how technology worked.)

    LMFAO, YOU DIDN'T EVEN TALK ABOUT THE HARDEST PART OF THE GAME. You don't know hell till you try the god damn Pika cup. They LITERALLY cheat in the pikacup. They use illegal pokemon and have have pokemon over 5 levels over you. I reccomend you go back and witness the pain and suffering of the pikacup. Ended up beating him first try, but I swear I died so many times thru the leaders and e4. I noticed a lot of times it will literally come down to Luck of the draw. Which was the most OP move in the game and literally took a shit on my entire team!! On a good note I was able to use Mew in prime cup after completing round 1 but u can’t use him in any other modes
