It's been a dream of mine to become a horse riding instructor for a while now as I love horses, and I was a bit nervous as to what it became to be one and whether the BHS exams involved actually watching you teach someone like as a demonstration (?) before getting your certificate and moving on to the real thing, because obviously the last thing you want to do is be in an arena and not have a clue what you're doing lol. So it's a relief to see that they give you training first hand (please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). So does this happen at every BHS training centre? Where you get your qualifications to become an instructor and things?
Not every BHS centre offers training. Check their individual websites. The BHS 'Pathway' includes all the elements of equine management and riding etc. If you want to teach you must take the Complete Horsemanship pathway - check the BHS website.
I have a bit of info but would check the BHS website first. The Prelim test has changed since the new 'pathways' came in - and the candidates are now 'assessed' not tested. The Stage 2 includes different elements and one of those is the Teach Award - which is more or less what the old Prelim was.
