Good advice Chris. Year 1 for me - I have ordered an over wintered nuc, really looking forward to getting started in the Spring. Keep up the good work fella.
Hello Chris, I still have half of my wife’s lovely home made Christmas cake to get through lucky me 😀 , yes you are spot on with your info for new beekeepers it’s got to be a overwintered nuc bought from a reputable beekeepers over getting a swarm of bees you know nothing about, I’ve been beekeeping for years now and can say I have a decent amount of knowledge on my hobby I love swarming season I usually put up say 10 bait hives and on most years I catch between 4 and 6 swarms but last year I caught a big swarm of the most nastiest bees I’ve ever come into contact with first attempt at inspecting them was a eye opener I counted over 200 stings on my bee suit and many more on my gloves I’ve now moved them into the very far corner of my scaffold yard and don’t bother them anymore even now if I get within 40ft of their hive they are on the defensive, it’s a good job my work yard is situated far out in the countryside.
Hello Mark. I hope you enjoy the cake. If you have a really nasty colony I would try and either re-queen it or destroy it. The problem is that aggressive drones will outfly nice ones to mate with local queens and are likely to cause those queens to be aggressive. All the best.
I was already starting to sway this way after initially having a buzz about swarm traps or tagging along with a pest controller on calls to claim free bees . This video has convinced me to get 2 nucs from my association next year if they are available. Thanks (I keep a look out for new videos ). Best wishes for 2022
That’s great news. I’m sure you won’t regret your decision. There are lots more videos in production so I hope you enjoy them when they are published. All the best.
Good to see you back Chris, all my girls are out flying, new Year was like a spring day and they are bringing in pollen! Checked the hives just before Christmas because they were so active and they are all raising brood with a minimum of 1 frame capped. Mother Nature is messing with us. Looking forward to the next video and the new cake!
Sorry it’s been a while but the run up to Christmas was crazy. I’m sure people were having baths in honey!!! Great to hear your bees are doing well and fingers crossed for the new season. Cake will still be an important part no matter what the weather!!!!
Learning, learning, learning. Thank you!

I I would love for you to discuss Africanized bees in in a video many thanks Chris!🙏🏻👍🏻🥰👌
We don’t have Africanised bees in the U K at the moment and having spoken to some people who have had to deal with them I’m really glad.
