The reach console will ALWAYS be special to me. It was the first 360 I bought while stationed in Iraq. The sounds it makes are a special little touch you dont see often. The color for it is amazing! I just love it.
At the moment I am trying to rebuild a Star Wars Edition slim. Got it for 20 Euros with an OG Xbox Duke controller and some games (quite a weird bundle actually, one of the games was GTA 4 for PC). All panels except for the side panels and the blue brace on the disk drive were replaced with panels from a black Xbox 360 slim (non-glossy). The sidepanels were still in really good condition, except for a minor scratch. The special sounds and everything still works. Now I am looking for a defective one, don't even care what defect it has, as long as the front panel is in good condition. And of course I need the C3PO controller. Might take a year or two for me to find a defective one, but I know I'll get it eventually.
I check on your videos time to time, I cant even solder 2 wire. I just found out your condition. I wish u all the best bro! Keep saving these filthy consolse!
No body talks about it, but that ESD Booster takes an insane amount of heat to remove! Same with the Redriver and even the port lol Another job done! Always making it look easy Steve! :)
It's so good to see you on video again. I've been a subscriber for a while, and have always enjoyed your videos. I genuinely wish a speedy recovery. I hate that you're going through so much...one of my really good friends growing up was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, and I've been calling him every other day trying to get him online to play games etc. I bought him a Steam Deck just so we can play together. So your situation hits really close to home, and I wish you and your family all the best! Stay positive, my friend, and thank you for sharing so much of your work and journey with all of us online idiots! :P
Sorry to hear about your friend. Colon cancer is rough. Online idiots, lol. I usually refer to my audience as my "internet friends" but I might like online idiots better lol
I saw a short of you and I was shocked how your look changed drastically so I know something is wrong. Glad you are still making vids man, I salute you. Like you I'm a tinker, when I see something is broken I always feel the urge to disassemble and hopefully fix it. Everything started at first grade where I destroyed most of my toys and as I grew, wandered around and found myself working on electonic repair shop and cellphone repair shop. As years pass by I noticed my health is degrading. Visit a doctor and he said that my immune system is probably not in a good shape and asked me a bunch of questions. When he found out about my passion he said which is tinkering on electronic devices while using soldering iron and lead he instantly said to get aways from those things at least for a year. Turns out chemicals, fumes, and other things that is involved on an electronic device are bad for your health. Fumes can cause some damage on lungs and can affect your immune system. Soldering lead is also bad because after touching those you would most probably touch your eye or mouth which is a bad thing. These things doesn't harm you in a day but it will go unnoticed until it's too late. If I were to decide I want you to stop but I know that this is your passion, stopping is like not living. My tip is just that be more careful, wear gloves, mask and something to protect your eyes. Wash your hands after repairing something or much better is to take a bath and putting those broken things away from your home(like put it on a warehouse or something) would lessen your exposure to hazardous things. I hope you get well soon and I hope you fix more things.
Hi Steve! Considering someone mismatched the fan and there is actually no startup chime, I believe you have either dead or mismatched SSD on that xbox, not a problem with a HDMI circuit. If thats a case, you wouldnt be able to fix those first boards anyway. Great video!
Hey there steve, it's been awhile but I used to frequently watch your channel. Just found out about your condition, so sorry to hear that but I hope you make a full recovery soon. Because of you I managed to learn valuable skills in repair especially in consoles and it really helped me start somewhat of a business for myself repairing old consoles.
"It doesn't smell like roaches." Roach infestation is such a unique smell. I used to work at Gamestop for half a decade and you could ALWAYS tell when a buggy (roach infested) console came through the door as soon as the person put it up on the counter for a trade-in. It was so disgusting. That smell is something you won't soon forget. Even now, 10 years later, I can still recall the sweet yet offensive smell. It just fills your nose.
