My dad showed me this movie when i was WAY too young and it is what gave me my arachnophobia. Watching it now i can see its dumb but the damage is already done
I'm a big fan of spiders, so I watched this film EVERY time it aired on HBO. I think this movie might have been what first made me develop a crush on Scarlett Johansson.
Jumping spiders would be the most terrifying if they were giant. There is a video somewhere out there that shows them planning and remember the path to prey without having to keep checking.
24:38 That’s a fair point, they would have to consume each other past a certain point. If humans were _also_ eating them, it would be a question of whether mutation would cross species threshold, at which point we have mutating people, and _before_ seeing it as a boon or potential, people would jump to those that mutate being a problem as well. Speaking of which, our own coordination would rely on everybody sticking to the same page that this is actually _happening,_ which, people deny the shape of the Earth, I dunno how well people would shape up against “oh the bugs are big, we should do something about that.”
Not me eating giant mutant spiders in order to get Spider-Man powers 😂 "So how did YOU get your spider-powers?" *_Me: "I bit a radioactive spider 🗿🚬"_*
Chazz I hate to inform you but there are some species of spiders that can make pockets of airs underwater, even swimming; and even more horrifying is the fact that tarantulas can swim, yeah those hairy bastards can swim
Not only would they be getting bigger, but they would also be eating each other. Eight Legged Freaks featured so many different species of spiders, many of which are cannibalistic, too.
Even more terrifying thought. All insects slowly end up changing and growing into hive minds, but each species is a separate hive mind aggressive to humans and all other species so it turns into a war of giant venomous everything 😮
So this is so far the best opening I could see for a giant bug souls game so far, best case I've come up with is an alchemist or wizard experimented on insects and they became powerful enough to overthrow man and are currently at war with whatever Old God's the creator wants them to fight. Bugs, powers, magic, mythical beings. Most the elements are there now. All that's left is the reason MC can't fully die.
I don't like spiders, but "Eight Legged Freaks" were one of the few cassette tapes we owned. Since I like horror movies and this was around, I actually like the movie and it doesn't scare me.
I'm not sure if Earth defense force has any movies, but there's a lot of movies where The threat of giant bugs is the problem. I say this is good enough.
1 air craft carrier worth of planes and 3 Abrams tanks would kill them off if they had roughly a state worth of territory hell ww2 tanks and planes could probably do it and infantry wouldn't be useless either between m32 grenade launchers and anti tank rifles from back during ww1 and 2 which were essentially tank turrets themselves would be devastating
You might be right about the amount of weapons/chemical warfare etc....but if you have to start using them, you likely won't have a livable country afterwards. Huge munitions would blow cities to rubble, chemicals will seep into the water tables and soil making food production basically impossible. It's not as easy as it sounds.

Most arachnids are solitary by nature, so that mutation would have to do a healthy bit of rewriting instincts

24:50 They would suffocate long before food became an issue since there's not enough oxygen to sustain them when they're anywhere near that size.

I liked this movie, it's one of my top ten creature features
Baki screwed my brain. Cuz they had a whole hypothetical scenario of if insects were human sized. I'd try to box it and die 😭

This is the first time you're reacting to a wowsuchgaming why you wouldn't survive video, absolutely love it.

CHAVEZZ! Been watching you since high school! Love you man ❤
I'm cautious around spiders. A black widow almost got me during the winter when opening a videgame box. They're sneaky and dangerous.
Oh man, I LOVE this movie! 😂
For me it's a Halloween classic. One of those movies that's the right combination between goofy and kinda scary 😂

No to mention I don't think people realize how petty humanity actually is.
They'd rather nuke the whole earth than let some new form of life have it.
I have arachnophobia so this is going to be terrible for me
WOW YOU ARE STILL GONNA WATCH IT?!
Bro in denial they can be monster
Idk what's going on but I'm here for it.
