I love it. "I was 16 once. I thought I was slick" and "You think your smarter than a Japanese Engineer". But your so right! Good video, with the fender off it is an excellent visual on why the original air intake is good.
100% agree -but as you mention because you’re a legend -the only upside is a cold air intake is it’s slightly higher that the air port by the fender where water is easily pushed in even minimal off roading with some water crossings. It’s a really bad spot for it.
Another great video! A second reason I don't like "cold air" intakes, is the oil filter. Never liked washable, oil soaked filters. In a carbureted engine, they may be okay. Anything with sensors... Forget about it!
True! You can insulate the plastic parts to eliminate some of that exhaust manifold heat soak. With 94 hp engine (from new), yeah, not worth it. For those that take the hood off, the CA can also help ... Again, from a 94 hp engine (from new), not worth it.
lol thanks for the validation T! Been saying that for years. Same for all the suspension mods and whatnot. You really think you going to come up with something better than the engineering department over at Suzuki? or Toyota or any manufacturer? nope....
Of course this is posted 24 hours after I bought one of those filters. Not out of any slickness, just because the previous owner broke the air box and just took it out. I figured it’s better than no filter at all. I’ll get the real one eventually.
@@Hwy83SUZUKI That was a great video and I loved how you explained it so politely. When I see someone do that... I'm just like what in the Jethro F, is that shït? 🫣
Agreed, but the factory Suzuki air intake system is a bad design on this model though, the ones fitted with the J series engines improved the air intake design by not routing an air intake pipe over a hot engine and a hot exhaust manifold, like this one here still sucks in some hot air via heat soak. So Suzuki improved it themselves with their newer J series engines 👍
@@Harry_Hood-r4e its also constantly heated by the engine below it whilst its running so its doing both at the same time, thats why its not super hot to the touch but guarantee its sucking in hotter air than what it needs to be, hence why they changed the design on the newer J series engines.

sooo! when you add a Myside or Sidewinder carb with the new intake and the "fart filter" how would you suggest tieing that in? make it connect back into the OG intake line somehow?or what would you suggest.
Amen about leaving intakes as the Gods made them. Besides these Jethro "cold-air intakes" actually breathing in hot air, they also destroy the resonance of the OEM intakes. Believe it or not, those pesky Japanese automotive engineers know world more than the Jethro backyard engineer. The fluid dynamics of an intake is a black art practiced by only by engineers. Nice touch with the Miller High Life hat and coat! Classy.

I drink Millerhigh life because you do. I only hope I can be as wise as you. I feel the performance of the Miller highlife already. +2hp

Love your videos man,
Thanks for watching!!

There was one brand that was "dry". Can't think of it at the moment
Very good thanks
he visto varios carros que le hacne eso!, gracias por la información
That other box in the fender separates the water from getting further unless you swamp it it can handle a bit
Been a few months since I’ve watched since the Sami is sitting but damn you ain’t missed a beat lol

At last the voice of reason. Nothing simpler than the stock airbox and it works well.
I feel like the ideal set up would be a lot like the factory airbox but maybe make the ducting bigger and get a less restrictive filter

There are 2 reasons for that mod 1) cold air 2) free flow. The factory setup is not exactly free flowing.
😂😂😂

yes, although not ideal, definitely better than nothing 👌

Feel the charge pipe its constantly cooled by the air flowing through it

Thanks for the video, master! Do you think 15W30 or 20W50 is better for the motor, after overhaul? Greetings from Costa Rica

So you do validate a good snorkel as a second option?
If you actually watched the whole 3:51 video you'd know that he covered that and said yes.

What about a snorkel?
Changing out my sammy head gasket now, removed all hardware but she won't budge. Any tips?
