      Thank you Austin when I’m having a bad day going stir crazy from all the snow living in the mountains of Montana I watch your videos and your cheerful energy makes this Grammies day. I was wondering how long can I keep a baby Fahaka in my 55 aquarium we always have a big sale in town during the summer and I have a chance to get a baby now. And plan on a bigger tank later

    Hello Austin. Great video. Very informative and can really help people decide what puffer can work for them. My goal is still the pea puffers. Since I haven't kept puffers, I want to start at a beginning level. I would hate it if my inexperience caused the death of one of these awesome fish. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge with us. 🐡

      Pea Puffers are a perfect starter puffer, but they are addicting. Once you have them you'll always want to keep them 😆. At least that's how it's been with me.

    Cross rivers get around 16 inches I’ve seen some huge ones . Minimum 150 gallon tanks for sure

    Thanks, nice video. Missing the Pao Abei ☺️. I adore them. They have a really unique color change. I am keeping a little group of them.

      Abeis are beautiful. 👍 Kept one for a bit but always remained shy. Wanted to try him in a group but alas Abeis don't come around here too often (Omaha, NE area) so I never got the chance to try the group. 😞 The markings and color though are very unique though. 👌 👍

      @@FintasticFreaks yes they are also rare here in Central Europe. I found somebody who breed them.
      I have a group of 5, it is working alright. There are plenty places to hide, but still some fights among themselves.
      I saw yours once in a video. Mine are not that shy, but of course, I only have two tanks to care about.

    Great video! You’re my go to for puffer info. I recently bought a little cross river puffer that is a little bigger than my thumbnail. He has big personality and is a great eater. I’m wondering if I can train him early and get him accustomed to tank mates. What do you recommend? I have some Carpintis cichlid babies that are about his size but I really don’t want them to attack him neither. Or maybe I should try him in a tank with some danios?

      Great video? I have four red eye puffers and two Congo spotted puffers gorging on blood worms. A German expert said you don't have to trim Congo's teeth Hercules looks to be a female due to her more linear pattern. Males have ocellated spots. I'll never afford one so I'll follow her with interest.

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว

      @alekkoomanoff7281 Hercules could be a female, the name was set by the store I got him/her from and I just carried it over, because I liked it.
      As for the Spotted Congos the ones I had had faster growing teeth. Like I said thos list is partially based off my personal experiences.

    I Have amazon puffers and they are awesome. Looking to the future I would like a Fahaka puffer. whats your thoughts on a Fahaka with tank mates?

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some folks have found a way to make it work. I've never given it a shot with mine, because I know she'll kill it. 😅
      I personally don't recommend it because most fahakas are usually intolerant of tank mates, but I've seen people keep tiger barbs with one in a 180 gallon. And a channel having some chiclids with another in something like a 210.
      If you want to try it, I'd recommend putting a small group of Rosy red or white cloud minnows, or something else inexpensive, to see what your puffer thinks, and worse case scenario, if the puffer gets them, you lose a few bucks.

      Fahaka puffers are so cool and vary smart if you get one start with a small 20 g long tank then get a 125g

    • @Chonsta

      fahaka is my dream fish it got me into the hobby!!! I was trying to get a 180g for fahaka community tank but I have no space for that big of a tank at all. im looking at spc for my 75g now but that fahaka is the one man😂

    i keep coming back to this video as i have an extreme love for puffers what size of a tank would you suggest for a singular specimen of a redeye puffer :)?

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have one in a 10 gallon currently, but a 20 long (or high) wouldn't be a bad deal either.

    Puffers rule! I love my cross river and fahaka but my cross river doesn’t like krill or clams on a half shell

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Strange... I've yet to keep a puffer that has denied krill. Have you tried silversides? Might be worth a shot.

    Puffies are the best!!! I will never keep Amazon Puffers again. Their teeth grow so fast. I had to cut my last colonies teeth 3 separate times. Talk about stressful!! Aaand, these dudes had more snails than they could handle as I breed snails for my guys.

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Amazon puffer teeth are crazy. Very fast growing compared to the lot of others.
