Normal.. I get almost 170 but as long as it's consistent along the cylinders at a reasonable psi u good.. 160 is completely normal.

@@TheGerbsteve yeah bro as long as u maintain ur fluids, do your occasional plugs and valve lash, these motors last forever. Me and you lucked out and got 2 great JDM motors from JDMNYC..
@@TheGerbsteve Thanks, I did the test because it was hard to start. It turned out that the problem was with the old battery. Now it starts almost immediately. With 62 amps and 450 amps starting current. Old battery was 45amp/h and 330amps starting current.
Ive got similar values in my k24 engine... I don't know how much time has been since it was stopped for the last time... It has all 4 cilinder quite similar but low compared to others... is your engine doing well??
You can increase that compression by flushing your engine whit BG109 y use that product once a year and drive during 20 minutes, normal drive not running, and then change the oil and boila compression recover to 180.
Nice video! The only suggestion I have is it's good practice to hold the throttle wide open while doing the compression test to make sure all the cylinders can pull air in freely. If the cylinders can't pull air in freely there will be less air in the cylinders to compress and the compression will be lower. This isn't as important on modern engines with electronic throttles like yours has though. As for the compression, I would say 160 is a little bit low for that engine. I saw 190-200 on my D17 with 200K miles on it and a slightly lower compression ratio than your K24, so I would expect to see somewhere around there on yours as well if not a little higher since it has a little higher compression ratio. But realistically I wouldn't worry about if it runs good and doesn't burn a lot of oil, there isn't anything you can do about it other than rebuilding the engine. That Harbor Freight gauge may not be 100% accurate either.
The K24A4 in my '05 Element has 180 psi across the board and has 220,000 kms on it. Sadly, the engine spun it's thrust washer so the bottom end is garbage. Was considering replacing it with a JDM K24A but with this video I am concerned that the JDM engine will have a lower compression ratio. What's up with that? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_K_engine#K24 If you swapped in a JDM K24A from a Honda Odyssey Absolute, you should have been supplied with the K24A HP version with the *RBB* head and upwards of 10:1 compression ratio. Should you not get over 200 psi in the cylinders? Maybe you were supplied with the K24A Eco version (low-compression)? What is the K24 version stamping on the side of the engine?
Hey man I got a misfire on the turbo fg2 and I’m about to do this tomorrow morning ! All you need to unplug is the injectors to keep it from flooding ?
I think you’d also be able to remove the fuel pump relay and do it that way. Remove the relay and let the car run until it dies then conduct the compression test after
I think your battery is a little weak on juice u got to test it with good ol battery .. it should rotate faster than that thats why u reading a little low
You know, I’ve been thinking the same exact thing. Especially with the cranking in the colder mornings. Could be that or my starter 🤷🏼♂️. Battery is about a year old or so, new from Honda.
@@TheGerbsteve base on my experienced... it should rotate faster when you crank it...ive tried getting readings from A weak battery and for sure it reads lower since it doesn’t rotate fast like it should to.. well anyways that k24 is healthy though..
Lol nice vid, but fr you work too much on them Hondas, you know they don't go bad LMAO. I just sold my 09 si exactly like yours, ima miss that high revving engine, never gave me a problem.
How about if the compression number are 175psi 125psi 60psi 55psi on DRY After I give 1 cap oil on each cylinder through spark plug hole, it became 225psi 190psi 225psi 190psi WET. Car is Accord k24a8
Wet number from my understanding is what you will base your info off of. I believe that you don't want the psi being 15-20 psi over or under the regular number, which in your case would be 225. Keep in mind, if the car is running good, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
@@TheGerbsteve I actually just bought a used k24a3 from a JDM importer and wondering about how to do a compression test on it. Engine still has quite good amount of engine oil based on its dipstick. Should I go with dry or wet compression test?

My K24 gives 160... But I have seen couple of videos on TH-cam where they test a engine outside the car K24 n it gives them 210... Since that video I was abit depressed but now happy with mine 🙂
My jdm k24 read 210 psi across the board when I bought it...they tested it for me on the ground. The guy tested the first 2 cylinders dry, first cylinder read 200 psi and second cylinder read about 160 psi. He then stopped dry testing and retested all cylinders wet with what he said was wd40 in a spray bottle and it read 210 psi across the 4 cylinders. After installing the engine I came to find what seems to be bad head gasket. So I retested the compression today and it read 190-200 psi. Even with good compression I still have a bad head gasket apparently. I might try a leak down test before I try returning the engine.
