    The little loop in the can, the one where you hold the zip tie is actually to hold the Can to the brace, you have to un screw it and it’s a perfect fit with the strut brace.

    Hey bud. Am new to the BMW family as a hobby. Bought a 2013 328ix. Great car, lots of mileage and just rebuilding and upgrading a few parts (charge pipe and all incl intercooler) was stunned by gunk in charge pipe. Am going to follow your advice as my whole front of the car is under maintenancer (lol). Having fun and enjoying your videos. Thanks for the great work. The passion is also easy to sense.

    Great vid, can't wait to see the VRSF exhaust go on, again lol. Side note, like some of the guys said, unbolt the bracket on the top of the catch can and then bolt it to the strut bar. If you have never walnut blasted at this mileage you need to inspect the valves and the pcv. Most likely you have tremendous build up on your valves. It goes by milage. Inspect around 50k or so. Of course only applies if you have a DI motor.

    You should mention this full circle..... If you do install a low side catch can AND it collects a lot of oil in a short period of time, there's a problem brewing with your turbos....... Best thing a catch can - can do, besides help lessen the need for valve cleaning, is point problem areas out. And if you've got 150k miles and no catch can and never cleaned your intake valves, you'd be misfiring like crazy and engine prob wouldn't idle lol. Just my .02

    Cool video, definitely a must have on any direct injection. Btw I highly recommend the cowl filters from BMS. I'm sure you've been tempted to buy them but heard some BS about them being dangerous or something. Nothing happens except less heat soak and a much nicer sound especially from inside the car.

      I've looked into them before, but just never pulled the trigger.

    • @whyzee125
      @whyzee125 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're really not a good idea. You WILL get water on your cyl6 plug if you drive in the rain, and you also end up with more moisture coming into the cabin/evaporator area which will lead to stinky AC. The car was designed to have a low pressure spot on the bottom of the windshield while driving and deleting the cowl completely removes this. It's just a cheap fix for having to remove the cowl everytime you work on the engine. I went for the M3 cowl for this reason.

  • @DAN007thefoxx1

    Eventhough Toyota makes the best GDI system that I have heard of (by combining it with normal port injection and having it alternate between the two) if I had one with it I may still consider a catch can mod to futher enhance the reliability of the engine.
    Hell I might even do this for my gen 1 Mustang if I deem it necessary in the future.

    YOU NEED TWO OF THEM, not just one... Go back and look at the pics of my engine bay that I sent you on Instagram. You can see the double OCC's in the rear. It's the ONLY way to be as sure as possible that you aren't getting oil in your manifold. Also, you should do a cowl delete, and get rid of that heavy crap cabin filter system. You can buy the BMS cowl delete filters for $60. You get rid of a lot of weight off of your car, and it's so much easier to clean or work on your engine.

      Do I really need 2? I've been running 1 for a good 6-7 months and have yet to see an actual pool of oil in the can. I'm still happy it's there but from what I see I'm not spraying enough oil for it to even collect. As for the cowl delete, I've been wanting to do it for a little while. Does the BMS kit come with a mount for the sensor?

    • @nineteen76
      @nineteen76 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GuerrillaGorilla023 That's because the high side catch can in this video hardly sees any oil. It's the low side that gets the valves all carbon up via ports inside the head. Google N54 external PCV.

    Is it safe to install Catch Can instead the CCV on N52B25 engine, the thing is that my engine is burning 1l of oil on like 300 miles?

    Once you install your catch can, how often are you supposed to check the can? Do you have to remove everything again ?

      I would check every 3k-5k miles.

    It would be nice if the oil catch can could be mounted by the power steering reservoir for easy access when draining it

      Vehicle Virals i had a look at these catch cans and saw that burgertuning sells a catch can kit for the vacuum lines - it would be interesting to see why you would do this and what difference it makes. burgertuning.com/products/dual-bms-turbo-double-baffle-oil-catch-can-kit-for-n54-bmw-vacuum-boost?_pos=19&_sid=22986ebec&_ss=r
      Also, it appears the mishimoto kit mounts by the power steering reservoir.
