- Harmonica in rock is not outlandish; and probably the brightest examples are shown in this video, ranging from rock ballads and singer-songwriter acoustic rock to virtuoso harmonica pieces and blues-rock. More here: www.harmonica.com/top-6-harmo...

Love Me Do by The Beatles is an iconic harmonica riff
The hardest hitting rock harp song has got to be Led Zeppelin's When The Levee Breaks, imo🔥
Great one!
Something feels so nostalgic about the harmonica
Nobody should ever forget that Alicia Silverstone was in an Aerosmith music video
Indeed
Bring it on home!
Enjoyable video. My personal favorite is hands down "Take the long way home" by Supertramp
Interesting that Blues Traveler wasn't included on this list.
Ryan Howell Many harmonica players shit on him...Jealousy, I believe.
That's some bullshit right there knowmsayin?
Such BS
@@UncleEbenezer77 No, I don't believe it is jealousy. First, he does not play blues. He did travel a lot, though. The difference between Popper's style of playing and the standard blues and jazz harp players' style is that Popper's riffs come off as repetative noodling while the others tend to utilize more tools to affect tone and note choices to really make music. Tools such as playing chromatically on the diatonic harp by way of bending notes allows for more expression. Also, using one's hands to sculpt the tone at the mic end, loosely termed "cupping" to make "wah" sounds, to make the harp talk, to make it wail like crying, for instance, are things that separate really accomplished harp players from Popper. If people want to listern to jazz and blues as opposed to "what's on the radio" all day long, I'm all for it. A lot of people's exposure to music is via commercial radio which tends to promote less than great choices. So, people hear Popper's harp over and over on the radio and start to believe it sounds like good harmonica. "It must be, it's on the radio." Go figure.
John popper hauls major ass. Should have been on you’re right
Good list! Johny Marr's "Vivid" intro is also iconic
Great choices, "The Wizard - Black Sabbath" is a Very best Song too
You mean Black sabbath?
Came to say, The Wizard has to be on here...
This kind of video is quite nice, especially with accompanying tabs on the site. Thanks.
Thanks Alex for giving the key and position on the harmonica
Agree
Broken window serenade is an amazing harmonica riff
LOL. Good ole noob Luke. He has a good heart. ;-)
This was the first riff I played when I learned to Bend! Bending really does add dimension to a song
Gracias. Nunca habia escuchado esta bella cancion!
I didn't come here for the video, I came for the comments.
Fuck you
Great summary, I knew many of these songs and didn't necessarily connected them to harmonica :)
Harmonica always makes a song better
I also like the distorsion harmonica on "electric worry" by Clutch. So powerfull
IIRC the harp player on Electric Worry is from the band Five Horse Johnson. The album Fat Black Pussycat is worth checking out if you haven't already.
@@AmilB29 yeah I know the song cherry red. Thanks, but I can't find the same powerfull atmosphere as in electric worry
Also purple hill witch-brunt offering 💜
You got that right Doobs and The doors Roadhouse blues were staples for me to learn
Classics!
Love to play a Lee Oscar on bullet mic. I first learned how to bend notes while listening to the iconic country star. Willie Mcoy!

@@s_roseace1893 NOR ARE SOME OF THE SONGS IN THIS LIST!!!
There should be "Pink" by Aerosmith

The Wizard by Black Sabbath is what I always think about when I see a harmonica . I bought a harmonica just so I can play guitar while someone else plays harmonica

hello, i wonder if you have a link for the music running from 0'00" to 0'18". i love what i have heard here.
You Don't Know How It Feels - Tom Petty
Lovely
Great !!
I've played for awhile. I would always play the B side to Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?...the NIght Owl Blues by the Lovin Spoonful, who featured John Sebastion, who's father played harmonica in an orchestra...
"Daydream" is the A side of "Night Owl Blues". I was hipped to that "slow music", as my young friend called it one rainy day as we played each other's 45s at his house. I played it a lot then. "You like that 'Slow music', don't you?, he would say. I still love that tune, I think it planted a harp-player-to-be seed in me when I heard it so young, circa 1967. You would never hear NOB on the radio then, it was always Daydream. Then came Butterfield. He planted a plantation in me.
Nice.
But when you're thinking about the Spoonful's BEST harmonica sojourn, you're playing "Lonely (Amy's Theme)."
You forgot to put the harmonica of "Suicide Blonde"
someone remembers a car spot of about 15 years ago of, with a slow country song with an armoic guitar and violin?
Wammer jammer is the only one on this list that I would consider top.
Cool songs, I wish I would've seen a Huey Lewis song here.
I love Huey Lewis too!
I Wish There Was A Video With Stevie Nicks on the Harmonica
Berlin - Blowin' Sky High
My favorite is alice in chains - don't follow
Woah. I didn't realize Alice In Chains has a song with harmonica! Cool!

Elton’s “I Guess That’s Why They Call it the Blues” features a nice harmonica solo by Stevie Wonder.
Thanx man

You Don't Know How It Feels by Tom Petty
I'm learning fast that your mustache has to be ready for the harmonica. 😄
HA!
does anyone know what keys the songs are in? it says only about A in the first song
Here you go:
Cryin - A harmonica, key of A
Whammer Jammer - A harmonica, key of E
Heart of Gold - G harmonica, key of G
Shape of my heart - chromatic harmonica
Long train running - C harmonica, key of Gm
Roadhouse blues - A harmonica, key of E
I think a more accurate title would be "songs someone likes that have a harmonica in them". Because only in a couple are the harmonica bits all that great or critical to the song. If this were "songs where the harmonica is critical to the song", you'd have to include something from Billy Joel, John Popper, Led Zeppelin, etc. Or maybe "Songs someone likes that have a harmonica in them that we could find a link to a royalty free performance of." :)
how come you missed out A Better Man by Thunder ?
What’s the song right at the intro?!
