  • Now updated to v1.1 with drawable LFO for any CC
    My Behringer JT-4000 arrived today, My first play of this great little Roland JP8000 clone with no talking so you can hear the sounds in all their glory. Towards the end I tweak the midi CC of the hardware with a custom Reaktor Ensemble. Based on Sunborn's JP8000 ensemble. Does it sound good? Let me know!
    The Reaktor template is now available on the Reaktor user library. Have Fun!

    Hopefully the fact that a $49 synth has a better screen than a $400 Roland boutique will shame people into putting better displays on things.

      Seems here a lot of Roland bashing haha - I gues Roland didnt plan to make a tr8, 303 etc. synth with the original layout and put a screen on that

    Got mine today and have to say this is one amazing little synth for just over £40! Noise level is excellent, sounded amazing through my Yamaha HS monitors. The user interface is very intuitive and responsive, despite the tiny controls. You really forget this is paraphonic, compared to my Behringer Poly D this plays polyphonically much better. The twin oscillators give you thick sounds, also having PWM and Super Saw really beefs up the possibilities. There's a USB-C socket for powering the synth, plus it supports midi over USB. Nice thing is that if you use a controller keyboard from your computer connected to the JT-4000 you get velocity sensitivity, pitch bend, modulation wheel and full midi control over the filter, resonance, attack, decay and much more. Easy to dump and reload patches over Sysex or via the Behringer app. The only thing that took me a while to fathom out was how to get the arpeggiator working - eventually realised you have to go to settings and switch it from the keyboard to the arp. It doesn't have any digital effects on board so adding some external delay and reverb does enhance the sound a lot. The 12-bit DAC gives it a nice retro feel and the analog filter, whilst only 12dB per octave is a lovely touch. Great sounds and so much fun to play with!

    Hey mate, love this idea downloaded it straight away but I'm struggling to set it up in Ableton. I've got my JT 4000 set up with a midi channel, receiving a midi from the synth and that's being rooted to an audio channel. It is playing fine. I'm struggling to figure out where the reaktor unit is placed. Is it on the midi channel or is it on the audio channel? Also, is it a reaktor or reaktor Fx unit I should be using? I've tried all different configurations, and as soon as I add the reaktor unit, the audio stopped playing? Any help would be massively appreciated.

    • @jpphillippe2
      @jpphillippe2  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It doesn't use or make audio at all it's only midi. It doesn't create any sounds it just controls the JT hardware. So don't add it as an effect on the jt4000 audio channel. Assuming you have created midi and audio channels for the jt-4000, Create a new channel/track with reaktor (as an instrument). Then route the midi output of the reaktor midi channel to the jt-4000 midi channel input. You should be golden.

"Midi to" should be set to the jt-4000 and channel 1. Arm the jt-4000 track (red button) You don't need to change anything midi settings in reaktor. Select the Reaktor track and open the editor. The controls in reaktor should change the parameters on the jt-4000 hardware. (double check the red arm is still on on the jt-4000 channel). Other things to check is in Preferences/midi/midiports. If using reaktor in stand alone. Enable midi out in "file/audio and midi settings/midi/outputs". If your using reaktor in a DAW it is specific to each one. Vst midi is handled differently by each host.
