yeah, three other people died in connection with this event. They did not have crash location trackers (technology) standard at the time (1973) so it took three whole days to locate the crash site. Unfortunately, a three-man helicopter crew out of the Arkansas National Guard crashed en-route to search the crash location of flight 655, so in total tragically, 14 people lost their lives in connection with this event, eleven people perished on the Texas International flight and three American servicemen perished trying to locate the crash site. God bless those people may the rest in peace. Please don't forget our Army National Guard servicemen who also lost their lives. Truly touching video bro much love. BTW I know you mentioned the three NG guys in the decription I just wanted to add my two cents. -Justin.
Today the FAA would have removed all the debris for examination. I guess the procedures were different 45 years ago. Thanks for keeping this respectful.
I still hear about this accident from time to time as the extended family of one of the dead live all over this area. Actually the passenger that died lived about 15 miles away from here. I should check. I bet there is a memorial near by.
They were just lost and didn't think they were were flying in an area with mountains. Flight recorders show the pilot says "Fred, descend to two thousand feet" prior to impact. The crash occurred around 2025ft
As they said in the description - inaccessibility to the site. They would have only taken the bodies, personal belongings and items needed for the investigation (ie black boxes, instruments) and left the rest.
The crash site was never cleaned up due to its geographical inaccessibility. Access to this site requires an 8 mile round trip hike up the side of the mountain.
That is still strange. The official accident report AAR74-04 from the NTSB clearly states "The wreckage area was 120 feet wide and 175 feet long. All pieces of the aircraft were recovered from this area." And yet there it is...
Hendrik Busch That means that every piece of the aircraft landed inside that 120x175ft wreckage area, not that they recovered every piece of the aircraft.
Weird that they didn't bother to clean it up completely. Pretty massive chunks of plane still there. Get it why they couldn't do so back in the days. But current day it should be doable with the help of helicopters and cargo-nets
There is really no reason to collect the rest. The scrap value is not good enough to warrant such an operation, there is nothing more we can learn from the debris, and it is not causing any trouble being out there.
Surprised no one has tried to harvest the crash for anything...maybe some have but there's a lot left. I could see some smart hobos harvesting it for scrap metal to build a shelter up there.
Thank you for being so respectful of the site and also for the complete description of why the wreckage remains there. Well done.
Shame 11 People lost their life's along with 3 Veteran's. Not much left of the plane. May they Rest In Peace. Nice respectful video of the crash site
ronnie cardy well said.
Wow, the wreckage is in surprisingly good shape, for being there 45 years.

Such a moving story, so sad for the loss of lives, well filmed and presented ,,,💗🇬🇧
The beginning gave me chills. So sudden. Hopefully it was quick and painless.
rip to all who were lost on that fateful day. well done video, quite shocking after 45yrs so much of the plane is still can be seen.
Sad but good video I can’t believe they left all that out there thanks for showing!
Totally smashed into so many sharp jagged parts. Very sad. Thanks for sharing.
My Dad was the first airline employee on the scene. He never got over it.

Damn! I’ve been down that way many a time and never realized the entire wreck was still there
RIP to all of them, and good work on the video.
R. I. P to all of them that passed away in that
Great and very respectful video.
Heart wrenching to hear and to watch. They are in God's hands. Well filmed. Respectful.✝✝

Wow thats crazy RIP 655 passengers
www.GPcarAudio.com 655 is just a flight number not how many people on board
john kusher i think they meant the passengers of 655.
All 11 people on board were killed.
I still hear about this accident from time to time as the extended family of one of the dead live all over this area. Actually the passenger that died lived about 15 miles away from here. I should check. I bet there is a memorial near by.
So sad. Happened right before I was born
well I didn't see that coming, good job.
Very nice video and very good music, dont know if this was a altimeter accident but it looks like one.

i take it this happened in the middle of the night like 50 years ago in a rural area?
RIP ♡
How is that wreckage still there?

Just think of it this way it's a gaint head stone for all those who died there

Osmosis think of it this way. It's a giant headstone that marks their final resting place, atop a beutiful mountain with lovely scenery.
There is really no reason to collect the rest. The scrap value is not good enough to warrant such an operation, there is nothing more we can learn from the debris, and it is not causing any trouble being out there.
Great video choice, "aircrash investigations" is popular. - A memorial to arrogance.

It is kind of out in the middle of no place. There are no roads or anything like that up that way.
Since the inauguration of The Leader, there have been no commercial airline crashes.
