    I have the 2.8 diesel ZR2. I love it!!! I have driven the gas version too and was not real happy with the 18 shifts to make it to the next stop light. They both are very well equipped and very functional. Cant go wrong either way. Love my 2019 ZR2! Thanks for the full review. Try the diesel next time. I think you will like it.

    Hey Mike love the channel but when you throw out towing numbers you need to be correct! The normal v6 colorado tows 7000lbs but the zr2 only tows 5000lbs because of that suspension setup. That actually made the difference for me because i tow about 6000lbs a few times a year so the zr2 doesn't work for me.

  • @rocksjoshua
    @rocksjoshua 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    For trail riding the Colorado is perfect. Its a smaller truck so it fits into more rugged and tight places than the raptor. Now if you in a wide open desert or field, the raptor is obviously the king.

    Even though, my comparison was this but years ago, I had a 00 ZR2 Blazer and a buddy had a 02 Silverado Z71 and you're dead on when you say the full size feels like it doesn't wanna be offroad and it lumbers around but the ZR2 floats around.

    from a friend of mine that has the diesel version he told me that you get pretty much the same millage it tows a bit more but the gas version has much more performance and faster responding on the pedal. So for once I would say go with gas version will save you and extra 5K.

    You could add lockers and those "amazing shocks" for 10x cheaper than what the factory charges.

    • @SuzukiKid400
      @SuzukiKid400 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      TWayne Buying shocks aftermarket isn’t the same as buying a package that is OEM tested. Also, those DSSV shocks are not available by any aftermarket brands.

    • @jackmama6669
      @jackmama6669 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SuzukiKid400 You may be right about that, but I think I'll take my chances on spending 10x less and having shocks that perform nearly the same if not better than those shocks. Not saying the engineers at GM are any less qualified than other engineers, but most companies manufacturing shocks have engineers who their sole responsibility is designing shocks for specific applications.The DSSV shocks weren't even designed by GM, they are simply using Multimatic's technology.

    • @SuzukiKid400
      @SuzukiKid400 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      TWayne why design your own shocks when someone else has come up with an amazing design that is good enough for formula 1! DSSV shocks are no compromise. Smooth on road ride, with a spool valve which changes the behaviour of the shock depending on how you’re driving. The ZR2 package is not “10x” more than aftermarket shocks. You have to realize that the package has front and rear electronic lockers, a lift kit, rock sliders, a custom front prerunner style bumper, oversized tires, a wider track, flare body and a custom hood. The package has value, and a warranty. It can be driven daily like any other truck with NO COMPROMISES. Cheap off-road aftermarket shocks typically don’t ride very well. They’re either super stiff or super floaty. That’s the magic of the DSSV.

Both of my ex gfs burned a quart a week the dealership bought it back from her then she went and got another one which did the same thing so she ended up getting the v6

      He is really an amateur! Only one diesel, and not a single Ram truck! If you want a truly American aimed brand, get a Ram! Who doesn’t like the legendary Cummins or the fast Hemi! I mean, even our local dealership supports the local farmers, and my small- town community. Great brand with great distributors, at least in rural Missouri! Not many around here drive GM trucks due to the IFS having constant issues with washboard roads. Not a whole lot of Ford Superduty’s either, at least since the 6.0 and 6.4 Powerstroke! Before that, a lot more drove Ford heavy duty’s! I’m talking HD trucks mainly, as far as half-tons go, there’s a little bit of everything. You even have Toyota and Nissan half tons, but for heavy duty trucks, there is a whole lot of Rams!

    They did a great job on the outside looks and the handling but damn if you put some older seats in it then it would like the 1980s interior . the ip cluster is junk and those buttons on the steering wheel wow cheap as hell looking . for a almost 50k truck and a mid size at that well that's just cheap as hell but chevy has been doing that for ever and that what the chevy boys are used to i guess so they keep getting away with it. Awesome vid tho and the old video at the end actually made me understand the rear dif much better. Thanks Mike great stuff.

      that is no mid size pickup that is the smallest they come 3500 is low midsize and you have to go to 7500-8500 for midsize then you get into the real trucks with straight six diesels!!

    *wonder what happened to the idea of putting a 5.3 in the colorado ZR2 might have made them a little more sellable if that was an option a small to midsized car enginejust really has no place in a truck any more than that retarded 5 cyl did. and it might make the choice between the duramax option and the 5.3L BTW love the "stuff" you have stored under the back seat* !

    The thing I hate about the cheap key fobs is that after a few months of taking it in and out of your pockets, the plasti-chrome starts to wear off. Mine started to fade after about 3 months. Now 2 years old, it’s basically a clearish/ white plastic with almost “chrome” on it. I don’t care how it looks cuz it’s in my pocket all the time, just shows how cheap it actually is.

    • @jackmama6669
      @jackmama6669 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Corners need to be cut in certain areas to reduce the price of the vehicle. Would you rather pay the prices they are set at and bitch about a key fob or pay double the price because everything is made of high quality materials? Look at any high end super car, the reason they are so expensive is due to the grade of materials used, the attention to details, and not made on a giant assembly line.

    • @lmCIoudz
      @lmCIoudz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My brother just bought a 2013 C6 Corvette a few months ago and I got him a key fob cover for it because those Chevy keys are just great.

    • @Sewermonkey69
      @Sewermonkey69 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      TWayne lol. It’s a Chevy key fob? You think they’ll charge an extra $50k for better quality plastic? Yeah, Ok buddy. All they need to do is ditch the plasti chrome. A lot of car manufacturers have done it. No one wants chrome anymore anyways. Boom. Saved them 8 cents a fob. 🙄

    • @jackmama6669
      @jackmama6669 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sewermonkey69 No i'm not saying it's an extra 50k for a key fob. What I'm saying is corners are cut everywhere to lessen the price of the vehicle. If any manufacturer decided to listen to every last person's complaint about their product, then you would be paying a much larger premium. There's a reason why good from China demand a far cheaper price than many American made products. Cheaper materials, cheaper labor, and cutting corners to make a less dependable product are great examples.

    • @Sewermonkey69
      @Sewermonkey69 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TWayne you literally said “double the price”. On a $50k truck, that still has cheap parts, that’s another $50k. You also must not have read my whole reply. If they ditched the plasti chrome (which is all I am complaining about here) they’d add another $0 to my truck payment. And I’d gladly pay it. It would’ve LITERALLY saved them money. It can not cost more the make a black piece of plastic then it does to make plastic with a mirror like finish. You’re acting like I’m bitching about every part of the truck.

    I hope they got the cam chain strech issues, cam phaser issues, and oil consumption all figured out on that 3.6 engine. They have been real dogs for years. Maybe the latest versions are fixed; they've had a lot of revisions to that engine. Wish GM would have continued the 3.8L pushrod 6; those were simple, reliable, and had good performance.
