    Mix tea with little hot water first and then ice and add seltzer or else it won’t dissolve and all settle at the bottom.

      I was thinking the same thing. Although the mixing melted 95% of it. Not mixing it will allow more fizz to stay in the drink.

    Well, the first time I drove to the north rim of Grand Canyon, I wanted to have hot pot there, and never ready figured out how to carry all the stuff I needed to do that, this could be one of those things, that would make that plan come true.

    AH thank you for posting this! I have been trying to find this everywhere I bought this and ate it on my 16 hour train ride from Chengdu to Xinjian. I tried it today, I was a heathen and switched out the spice mix with a spice mix bag from an orange Samyang ramen packet, because I was pretty sure I can't take the spice level from this original pack. It was really good, husband really liked it as well. Fun way to cook a lunch, too!

    • @simpletongeek
      @simpletongeek 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My understanding is that a hand warmer isn't sufficiently hot enough to cook. Although the principle is similar, you should be looking at MRE heater instead.

    • @mcolynuck
      @mcolynuck 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@simpletongeek The reaction speed would be different when oxidized in air vs. salted water. MRE heaters also contain salt, magnesium (actually, it's probably mostly magnesium) and other elements. Seeing it torn opened at the end of the video, I'm thinking this is very different type of heater since it expanded and is light coloured, which is so different from heaters I've used.

You could actually get a Yuzu tree where you live, they're actually one of the most cold hearty citrus fruits. I bought a tree for $40 or so, but it died I think because I used the wrong fertilizer. They have actually some of the craziest spikes on their branches, too. Actual Yuzu fruits are stupid expensive, though maybe on the West Coast they're cheaper, I think they're $4-5 each.

  • @GilBatesLovesyou

    I wonder if you could make a DIY heating element like that with either cement or plaster of Paris. The reaction seems slightly similar to that, actually. If you use a rapid set cement or plaster, you'll notice it gets really hot when it's setting. Even when I used rapid set tile mortar, it made the tiles warm/slightly hot to the touch. Baking soda or calcium chloride can be used to make Portland cement based things set off faster, but usually it's 2% of the actual mix or so. I wonder what would happen if you made something like 1/3 or 1/2 and half. It might actually turn out as weak and crumbly as that heating pad, but maybe release a lot of heat? I think for a plaster of Paris based thing, you'd use alum as a catalyst to make it set.

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm no chemist but I'm hoping the heating chemicals are probably filtered with the bag. That's why they want you to check there are no holes so the powder doesn't leak out and into your food. The resulting steam was indeed clear at the end.

      @@TechExploresNYC Yeah, that's something I noticed. Only privileged people seem to care about 'omg plastic bad' for some reason.

    Francis, I'm a foreigner in the bay, but the hair salon lady says all services are tipped here. Is that true? She told me to tip $10 today.
    oh, n because of your milk tea videos I bought red tea + soy milk at 99 Ranch instead of stopping for boba XD
    Also the lemon yuzu was v popular when i was walking around HK last yr. Almost every Watson had one at the front of the store. Now I have to go try it!

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I usually tip if I go to a hair salon. Not $10 though... I think 15% is standard. Soy milk at a store contains all kinds of additives so try make your own almond milk if you have time with raw almonds.

    Nice innovation. It produces far too much plastic waste. But it was worth a try. The process is interesting and the quality of the vegetables is very good. There is just one problem, it was spicy as hell 🥵

    Does it have to be refrigerated if not this would be great meals for the homeless who don't have access to much they can just get water from a restaurant bathroom and have a meal

    Find the manufacturer and we can use the technology in packets to instance heat up pools

      Perhaps but the packs are too expensive to use.

    BTB, I could never try or eat this. The spicy hotness would kill me. I have a friend i will reccommend this video to. He will probably seek this out. Really cool device. The drink looks pretty darned tasty.

      There are all different types of plastics. The plastics used in these heating type hotpots is made specifically for food grade use. I'd be more worried about the preservatives used in the actual products you eat in the meal.

    Same thing we use for Army MRE, the steam should not come into contact with your food directly. The food should have been covered prior to putting it in the black bowl. I would not eat that unless you plan on having cancer.

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bowl actually had vents allowing steam to go into the bowl. But maybe the makers didn't know better.

    I just went to that Amazon link and the self heating hotpot is $23 bloody hell, here at my local Chinese grocery store in Australia this hotpot cost $16 and I thought that was expensive but $23 US on Amazon, that's ridiculous what you guys have to pay for it, although, I suppose it's pretty good when you consider that you can have a hot meal anywhere and at anytime as long as you have that hotpot and a bottle or 2 of water.

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its around 8 USD here locally. Don't buy from Amazon if you can get it cheaper locally.
