Thinking of buying a Rolex? Know what you are getting into before wasting your money since these things sometimes sit in a closet with very little use. Some may buy them since they hear it's a thing to buy when they come in to some amount of money. But it may not fit your lifestyle and could be a $10,000 paper weight if you do not really use it.

I find expensive items cause me stress not joy. I find myself constantly worrying about that thing
Same here, I wear Casio and Timex; usually go for the lightest and simplest model.
Ten thousand in VOO, IVV or SPY crushes a Rolex.
Rolex doesn't pay a dividend
Great comment im putting 10k into DHHF an all in one ETF, 🙂
I know several people who in the early 2000's purchased Rolex Submariners while on vacation for well under $3000 - they are legit watches and have been serviced regularly - they're worth several times what they paid. While it's probably not a good idea to "speculate" on a piece of jewelry (some might argue it's a tool) - it's also hard to argue that Rolex prices at the very least beat inflation and are a tangible asset - so in my book there would be much worse things to spend your earnings on...
A successful family friend got himself his dream used Ferrari.
Once he realized the Ferrari culture, community and dealership, it gave him a bad taste for the brand and eventually sold it off.
Rolex demand was crazy due to the FOMO during the pandemic driving up prices. Now most models are artificial demand. There are a few models that are still highly sought after which make them limited.
Most dont buy Rolex to tell the time. They buy it to commemorate a job promotion, graduation, or success. It's no longer a time tool. Phones are much more accurate. It's jewelry now and heirloom.
great comment i totally agree with you ..
I’ve always bought used, and it’s worked out great for me. I started with a used M3, then upgraded to a modified M4 that a military guy was selling before heading back to service. Later, I traded the 2017 M4 for a 2015 Porsche GT3 I found from another seller. I eventually sold the GT3 and switched to a newer Corvette, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations, so I sold it after a year. Now, I’ve landed on a used 2018 Audi R8, and it’s the perfect car-it checks all the boxes.
Point is: buy used and keep upgrading-it’s the way to go!
I bought 3 Rolexes in the last couple years and sold every one of them. Was fun for a couple months and the excitement of acquiring the pieces, which kept me engaged. But after owning them, I found the exuberance diminishes quickly after you buy it and you realize how much money is tied up in it. Also always have to worry about where it is and if you locked your doors at home, etc…Now I can say I’ve owned them and can leave Rolex in the past
Spot on , i have never owed one but i would be worried about it if i left it inside my locked house ,, less stress now to have one i think .
Same, bought 3 and down to 1 now.
@@Leo-gh7nz good move , can only wear 1 at any time anyway ..
You only need 1. Daytona or Day Date.
Unfortunatley it'll be extremely hard to get Steel Daytona from an AD - you have to be VVIP customer with a heavy spend history
Rolex price is artificially inflated. These jewelers clowns buying and selling Rolex to one another squeezing every penny out of it making tik tok videos to get you hyped and buy over priced used Rolex that you will have to spend money to maintain even if you dont wear it then they try to cut you do for every little thing if you try to sell it the watch game is stupid and you made the right assessment and that why you are in this position because you are aware of what going on.
Just go to an authorized jeweler! So easy and fits perfectly.
The waitlist is the rich man’s greatest enemy lol
I spent 25k on one a few years ago. It was stupid and I never wear it.
I went in the store and they told me they didn’t have any then my friend who has a relationship with them went in a couple hours later and bought it for me. Gave me a bad taste about the brand.
I never felt good wearing it. Made me feel like a shallow idiot who needed to impress people.
I’ll give you $8k for it
Common sense - that's what I love about this channel.
Don't need to wear a watch, your cell phone is enough. Dumb to buy a Rolex though, 10% sales tax for a $5k watch makes no sense at all, that's freaking $500 you just flush down the toilet
I bought a $300 Timex just because I do enjoy automatic / mechanic watches.
your not wrong there !!!
Most phones don’t do a good job of tracking your heart rate, sleep and spo2 levels.
@@martinlutherkingjr.5582 I dont track them , i have ordered a Pedometer to count my steps i want to get in 10k per day ,, thats all i count on the moment ..
"Using Apple watch because I'm frugal" ROFL
I understand why you ROFL.
I bought this Porsche Boxster with Dogecoin and man, what a fickle minx.
I like it but I wonder if the newer ones will have that same white smoke problem when it gets older.
i see rolex as a hype brand. this is where all the resellers are at right now. they have resell value RIGHT NOW, i wouldnt buy something where i cannot walk in and buy it, it is a sign that its not for me. rolex is for different kind of people, it is a very crowded buy which makes it not cool to me. eventually rolex hype will die down, but this is where all the resellers are right now. im getting a lot of joy from my citizen watch.
I could probably afford one, but don't want the Rolex name on me anywhere.
"Proving yourself" for the chance to buy one turns me off so much.
I'm a Casio/Gshock kinda guy. Even my slightly more expensive Gshocks and Seikos stay in the box because I worry too much about them.
F91w and I'm a happy camper 😊
“Don’t but it. You don’t need it.”
You went to the Rolex store to possibly buy the unobtainium Rolex model. You could show up and they may have a Datejust or bling DayDates laying around. Two tone SS possible now.
The problem with a rolex even if you can afford it is then you look silly wearing 2 watches or you can’t wear a fitness tracker/smart watch which is actually potentially useful in catching potential health problems early.
You have to only wear one, so no more fitness tracking.
@ Yeah, that’s the problem, no more fitness tracking. If they had a rolex with fitness tracking comparable to apple watch and i was rich and i wanted i rolex then i might consider it
I had noooo idea buying a Rolex was a 5 year wait!!’
I was finally offered a Rolex. I am getting married this year and I was offered a pair of two-tone date just. We said yes, and we never regretted it for even one moment.
You are right, they called me the next day and say they just received a shipment and I was offered the exact watch I tried on the day before………coincidence or she just needed permission?…….
You’re so late to the game. Luxury companies will gatekeep their hero product like all those brands you mentioned.
Ps. Please get a better hair cut. Being frugal doesnt mean you have to look like a beggar all the time. $30 haircut will fix you.
I love beat the bush hairstyle
Thanks. FYI, the hair stylist messed it up and I couldn't fix it even with a blow dryer. Sigh.
lol still using my 15 year old apple watch every day. i charge it once every other month. i put a vid up on my channel :p made it from parts
Are Pawn Shops cheaper?
nope
Lololol I love your videos BTB but yeah I’m also a watch guy and the games Rolex plays is well known. You basically can’t buy a Panda Daytona unless you’ve already bought 4 or 5 other Rolexes with that AD.
I wanted to buy something physical that would hold value and it came down to either precious metals or a Rolex. I ended up buying the Rolex. It is now worth $2000 more than what I paid so I accidentally made money too 🤷🏻♂
I rent one for meetings only. By the hour. LoL
Can you really rent them ?
@@sirdino6967 I don't know. Not a bad idea! LoL
@@amill1563 yeah good business idea 😄
so many people with fake rolexes, the real ones mean nothing
Real ones mean something just as real hair on your head means more than a fake hairpiece
what ever happened to the boxster
Too many things were wrong with it and I got rid of it when I bought the M3P.
@@BeatTheBush 2024M3P is awesome. but mine after 2 weeks of owning it is already at service for a month and might still take another month. whole AP4 computer needs replacement and they're waiting for parts.
Yeah you need to prove yourself to the authorized dealer first.
I cant bring myself to do such a thing.
I'm the same height as you and slim build as well. Rolly's are too chunky for me. I think the same for you. Your wrist is probably about 6.25 inches.
Driving the Porsche... u need to think about the maintenance
There's a reason why many Porsche owners buy new, keep for 3-5 years then trade it in. Unless you're a Porsche enthusiast, have a good relationship with an independent mechanic and have other cars to daily - the ownership experience might not be that great. If a $300-800 yearly "oil change" freaks you out then you might want to consider a different brand. Other German brands aren't that bad but are expensive too. Heck, I was quoted about $600 for a new battery for my MINI Cooper the other day - on the other hand an oil change for my Hyundai can be $100 too these days so an EV is starting to look pretty good ;-)
Man imagine if u took profit and kept your initial investment?
Swamcooler vtoman opus nature gen microwave test dryer airfryer review
i recently got a day date 36 mm 18K gold watch.
I love it !!!
actually you can buy a rolex fairly easy in the mall in california
some models yes, some models like that "Panda" Daytona pretty much is only going to be sold to someone who already has established that relationship with the dealer. There are always stores that will sell gray market or pre-owned (although they've never been unboxed) for significantly more than what they are supposed to sell new ones for. If a dealer gets caught doing that they won't get as many new, high demand pieces.
For something like high end watches (rolex, genevans, PP, etc.) it would really be in vain if one does not appreciate the technology in them, so yea, you kinda need to have some mechanical/engineering knowledge in it to worth owning them, rather than showing off
Don't buy Rolex. They're mass-produced. You can buy much better crafted mechanical watches for similar price, you're more paying for the good marketing for Rolex. I won't tell you my ideal watch maker because I don't need more competition lol but I will hint that there's a luxury watch holy trinity, and Rolex isn't one if them.
A mechanical watch would get destroyed on my wrist.
@@BeatTheBush citizen chronomaster AQ4030-51A (40mm) / AQ4020-54Y (37.5mm) would be my pick for you 😃high quality and good "value", solar powered and accurate to +-5seconds per year
There are very good automatic chronographs that have a similar look to that Daytona - about $500-$1200 - you can find out if you like wearing a timepiece like that and depending on the brand it'll be worth about what you paid for it. For a couple grand more you can get into an Omega or TUDOR. TUDOR is the "sister" company to Rolex - many who value the brand as a "tool watch" and actually wear the watches own and collect them. Ball is another company to look at. Really there are a lot of choices. We call that "beta testing" Just don't buy a replica or a counterfeit watch - the only thing worse is the people who support that crap.
No brother sisters?
Thank you for sharing your experience! Sadly yes, I know what you mean, but I do see it from both the sales person and customer's side. SA not wanting to "waste time" if they think someone can't afford the product by a customer not dressing the part. But the part of building a relationship with an SA for months to buy something is new to me.
My phone has a clock on it. I'll put the money into crypto
I don't really like these snobby brands. If I ever get a rolex, it will probably be a cheap knock-off.
I think you would look good with a Black Sub
This is common knowledge if you actually enjoy watches and want a Rolex, and have actually purchased one. This video is not in your lane, stick to budget discussions this is the opposite of that.
I just bought one and its amazing
What happened to your hair
You look homeless or is this a new marketing ? 😅
It’s my new just woke up look. It’s pretty hard to make this look effortless.
you don't need to walk anywhere, they are on ebay right now
Why buy a Rolex? Elon does not have it. This is stupidity.
oh i just notice u have a ring on your left hand. are you engaged or married already?
Rolex watches are annoying because they are full analog... So you have to always adjust time...
I really like Japanese watches like Seiko Astron that have a feature to sync time to an atomic clock using a radio signal and are powered by solar...
Also Rolex is to recognizable.. I would be worried walking around a major city with a Rolex..
me to i would be looking over my shoulder 🤔
I’ll buy a fake Rolex, cause I don’t care lol
Normal people can't tell, and some are so spot on that even luxury watch dealers can be fooled.
And you can't pay asking price as well....gotta haggle that fake Rolex down in Chinatown.....
I rather not wear anything than wear a fake one. I had one before given to me as a gift but never wore it.
99% of people cannot tell the difference on wrist. If they ask you to take it off to inspect your watch, just decline
I couldn't respect myself wearing a fake rolex. Just wear something you can afford instead.
Rolex are for the plebs to flex on other plebs I would never buy one a Apple watch is superior
I prefer an AP over any Rolex..
No one asked
Is this a watch channel??
You sold your dogecoin yesterday to buy Rolex watch today.
not related but looks like someone is married :v
There are many great watch brands out there that are not Rolex and are more economical. Grand seiko, IWC, & Tissot.
I thought no one noticed 😀
Meanwhile me who does not intend to replace my Apple watch series 3 😅😅
