GETTING RID of EVERYTHING I OWN | EXTREME MINIMALIST KITCHEN

    Lately, I have been on a mega, extreme minimalist home, decluttering journey. This has been over the course of a couple of weeks, so I can take my time to be mindful about what I will declutter and get rid of. The aim being to get rid of almost everything I own. However, Mindfulness is also a part of my journey to an amplified extreme minimalist home.
    I like to live an ultra extreme minimalist lifestyle as I often live in tiny homes. Which I share with my partner, who also has his own choices of possessions. That simply do not have the space to give over to any extra stuff or possessions. However, as someone who also values home interior, interior design, minimalist design & minimalist style. I do not want to simply get rid of stuff to own less. I want to do so but keep my home orderly, stylish & aesthetic. I think extreme minimalists like Sibu & Youheum Son have proved to us this is possible. If it is a value that we care about. Many extreme minimalists are simply practical. Not caring too much about the aesthetic of their home or apartment. For myself however, when something is not coordinated or tidy and is simply less stuff, it can still become visual noise and clutter, if not stowed away efficiently. This is my goal over the coming weeks. Which I shall achieve by using my own RIP declutter method. Which could be likened to swedish death cleaning.
    My goal is to create a super, supreme, ultra extreme minimalist home, (whichever adjective you prefer)one that is also aesthetic, stylish, efficient, intentional and sustainable. Moreover, with the use of natural materials. Which I feel creates an organic warm minimalist home, despite how few items I may have.
    There are always still practical specifications to consider when decluttering. Such as functionality and lifestyle. What may or may not be useful to us may be useful to someone else and vice versa. I have also discovered that climate, is proving to be very impactive on the type of possessions we keep versus get rid of in extreme minimalism.

    I’ve already moved the 3 canisters off the window ledge and into the cupboard 😂decided I don’t want hardly anything out 😂

      Oh gosh I didn’t even think of that 😂 well it lasted about an hour after filming the video 😂 Then when I’d reorganised the lower cupboard, washed up and decluttered the other dirty pan. I realised there was space in the cupboard for those 3 canisters 😂

      Unfortunately it’s not hardly wide enough for anything 😂 it’s abit of a nuisance. It’s not wide enough to be useful. Whenever I’ve put any of my plants directly in the window here they seem to die because of the condensation or possible drafts. It’s Cold yet humid. Very odd plant environment. My plants have not liked living here. I’ve had a pothos for 6 years. And even it, is struggling in this apartment. Also in this one area of the coffee machine, I quite like my plant being there as it’s hiding the wires and plug 🔌 I hate wires 🪴

    My grandma got dementia when I was 9 or 10. My aunt was practically giving grandma's stuff away before she moved into nursing home. My dad was mad even though it was not even his side of the family lol. He was so mad that there were things sold for cheap, and given away. So as a young person, I was like him. Extremely stingy. I even saved bird feathers and lolipop wrappers. So glad I changed. Living like that was so negative.

      @SagelifeMinimalism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes it’s difficult isn’t it. My grandma to begin with was aware she had it and began giving her own stuff away. But then I suppose there are limits to what any of us can know about our future. It came on worse and rapid. She didn’t have time to do the rest. Time is our greatest commodity.

    Oh, I love that black pot! It has a Japanese aesthetic. I could let it "Rest In Peace," but if it were me, I would probably pull it right back out. 🤣 I boiled my water for tea in a small pot for many years. It worked just fine. It was only more recently that I purchased a kettle when I saw a nice one on sale. I do find that I drink more tea w/ a kettle. I think it's because sometimes when I wanted tea in the past, I was using the pot for cooking and the pot seemed to take a bit longer to heat up as well, so I just skipped making tea sometimes.

    • @SagelifeMinimalism
      @SagelifeMinimalism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I do love Japanese ceramics too 😊 after I’ve let it rest for a while, I may choose to use it somewhere else but I think I’m pleased with it not being in the kitchen. Then again I keep also reminding myself that as much as I do really like some aesthetic things I don’t want to have to ship or store things - until or when we find a new home. It will be interesting to see what if anything makes it into one small box when we leave this home. That is what I’ve said in my mind would be the maximum of things I would allow for homeware. But really I’d like a completely blank slate with nothing in storage 😊 less trouble than shipping far too. Yes I’m experimenting with the new glass pan 😂 it may very well become a nuisance to me 😂 we will see 😊

      @@SagelifeMinimalism It will be interesting to see what you decide to keep in one box, if you end up keeping a few things. That's a real test of keeping only what you love or that you find to be useful. Even if you were to start over with just one box or a completely blank slate, you'll likely be able to find other items that you'll appreciate. Plus, you'll have the enjoyment of hunting for a few good finds to replace them. ☺

    • @SagelifeMinimalism
      @SagelifeMinimalism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      😂 It was a big debate between my partner and I 😂 as I know I don’t personally cook anything greasy. Even when I say we have fried eggs 🍳 it’s a euphemism, as really we just crack them onto the granite pan as they don’t stick. I could however see how it would be useful to my partner. As when he cooks for himself he finds it quicker and easier and definitely makes less washing up 😂 I can also see how it does create less greasy environments for food that does contain oil. My partner has a large appetite and enjoys occasionally cooking panko breadcrumbed things etc. 😊

      @SagelifeMinimalism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @ros8986 Yes as do my partner and I. However I think in a relationship sometimes I personally feel there is a bridge where we discuss each others decisions more. It’s a mutual way of checking each others decision making and supporting them. We will have open discussions about whether we really want something and whether we really think we’ll use it. That it’s not just a passing fancy. As we are trying to save up together for our future. So purchases are discussed. And because we cohabit in an incredibly small space where it’s not always simple to make space. Sometimes we both compromise on many things for one another. I personally didn’t want a bed frame, coffee table (tatami stool) or air fryer. However I respected my partners wishes to have or keep those things. 😊

    Hey Lydia🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ Great video as always.
    You mentioned wanting to get a water filter due to your tap water being undrinkable, you should consider getting a water distiller instead, they get more impurities out.
    Also the other reason why I'm suggesting this is because as of 2024 the UK government started using something called gr**hene oxide as a "purifying agent" in their tap water (My comment will get deleted if I spell the whole thing), I have uploaded a video of a utility worker showing the documents, if you want to see it and of people finding it in their tap water. This chmical is absolutely detrimental for people's health and shouldn't be in the water at all!
    Always looking forward to new uploads from you🤗🤗🤗

      @SagelifeMinimalism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thank You.☺️. Yes I read an article about there being an environmental crisis this past year in UK water overflows. I don’t think the pipes in our property help matters either. I actually got a water testing kit online. I continue to test our water. The only thing that was currently high out of the near 50 substances it tested for was alkalinity. I was concerned about lead with the property being old or the overflow waste but these were all negative. I will look into what you have mentioned too. Thank You 😊

    You do know an electric kettle uses considerably less electricity £££ than boiling water on the stove (especially without a lid and in a glass pan that loses more heat than stainless steel)?! For your 5 cups of tea and 2 cups of coffee, the kettle is really worth it.

    • @SagelifeMinimalism
      @SagelifeMinimalism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Maybe it’s something I’ll consider if the glass pan doesn’t work out. We’ve had a glass kettle in the past and thought the glass seems to make the water boil slightly faster than the stainless steel. As for tariff costs. We are actually very lucky here. It is incredibly cheap electric cost.

      @picklecat4819 I know this is why we are reluctant to give it up when we travel. North of England. It’s on an old fashioned meter system in a very old building and there is no way for them to change it easily. The downside is we only have 2 outlets per room. As the building was built before electricity. ⚡️ Silver lining to the manky old single glazed windows that have drafts and condensation problems 😂 🪟 is the manky old but economical electricity 😂

      Don’t Worry You are in good company. Youheum Son use to have a lovely natural jute & rope Cat tree for her cat. She would also use little step shelves made out of natural wood, placed strategically up the wall so the cat could get higher up and have a little perch. You are right to get them it, as our fury friends need enrichment just like us. One day when I get a dog I will definitely get them toys. I’ll just be mindful they are natural materials too, just like in other areas of my home 😊. I think the cat trees sometimes look like giant cactus 🌵 shapes which I think are quite nice. 🐈 🐾 😊

    This is what I realised with my kettle. Keeping my keytle encouraged caffeine consumption which I am trying to reduce. It also meant I needed 2 bulky mugs. I decluttered the kettle and I am now thinking about the mugs and the decaff tea for visitors (me mum and dad). I am buying a small pot to replace my big pot as I do not need it so big and that small pot will function for boiling water as well as side or small meals.
