No sugar in my cornbread. No sugar in my tomato sauces either ! I love sweets candy and deserts. I also love savory. Bbq sauce honey and brown sugar the one exception. I do want to try the sugar with green beans recipe I have seen. I'm rambling but no to sugar in southern cornbread. Savannah cornbread has to have sugar if you have not had it .......I think it's sort of like pound cake
Cole rocks in the kitchen. I am in my 70's and love seeing young people help in the kitchen..fresh ingredient cooking!!! So good. Manicotti is my weakness. Gonna try this, love the cheeses chosen.

He was a police officer and a part time cook and a part time school teacher. He died in 2016. I miss him so much 😢 and I know he was always watching you too. May God bless you and your family always
Nice to see the cast iron skillet from stevens grandmother! I have my grandmother's cast iron skillet and dutch oven with lid. I will be leaving them to my son who lives to cook! Family's fight over that stuff you know! And cornbread never tasted better than when made in the cast iron skillet!!
I am 100% a southern bell and I like my cornbread both ways. Depends on the meal which way it will go. My dad used to take hot, unsweetened cornbread and add sugar and milk to it. That's delicious too!
I grew up on Jiffy cornbread but I've grown out of love for Jiffy and make my own cornbread with no sugar. I agree with you 100%. Thanks for the video and have a great weekend.
Hi Lesley, there are some things in Mandy’s recipes that I struggle to think of which can be used as a substitute, her meals are all so tempting! I made a recipe from a website called All Recipes, the recipe was Manicotti (something which I can’t remember now) and managed to “make” Italian sausage from an internet recipe by taking pork sausage meat out of the skin, and adding herbs, it was delicious.
Mandy, Cole is so handsome and love when he puts his face into the camera with his expressions! So funny! Loved all 3 of these recipes. I love cornbread with just a tad of sugar. I put sugar in my cornbread depending on what I am having it with. Savory things like chili, no sugar. Sweeter things like with honey for breakfast, absolutely sugar!
Just to give you a much easier way to make this, do everything for the filling the same, but instead of manicotti, I use medium/large shells. Cook the pasta. mix in the sausage mixture plus one can of diced tomatoes & half the cheeses, pour in a casserole dish & top with remaining cheese & bake. Super easy. Thanks Mandy, looks delicious.

l use to put my mushrooms and onions in a food processor cause my boys didn't like mushrooms or onions, and then add them to stuff, and they never new it for quite awhile, and about a month or so l finally told them, and they said they loved them.. Just an idea, unless you tried this sneaky mom's way, lol

I had to look up manicotti pasta (I’m from the U.K.) it’s called cannelloni here! I would add fresh basil leaves across the top too, as I make a very similar recipe and always add basil leaves x
Mandy, I just love you videos. I fix your butter noodles and beef, with the french onion chips and onion dip. Man was that good. Family came Sunday dinner and just loved it. I served it with cook cabbage and all of everything was ate. Thank you for this.

We do southern cornbread as well. The only difference is, we put the greased skillet in the oven to let it get screaming hot while we mix the cornbread. Then take the skillet out of the oven and pour the mix in the skillet. It forms an awesome crust to the bottom of the cornbread.

I live in SC, and yes, I love SWEET cornbread! I make the honey cornbread and add more butter and honey on top when it’s hot out the oven... sooo good!
My momma was from NC. We ate white cornbread, no sugar, cooked in a cast iron skillet on the stovetop. She taught us to crumble it up in our milk. It was heavy and very dry but oh so good warm with butter!

Hello Mandy, I have a subbie super for you. It’s pork chops with the bone in stove stuff stuffing, I use the savory herb stuffing, onions and cream of mushroom soup. You need about 2 onions or if you can find a large onion. You will need a 9 by 13 pan, spray it and then add your sliced onions to cover the bottom and just and the package amount of hot water to the stuffing once that is done rinse your pork chops off and dry and then put the pork chops down on the onions then add the stuffing to the top of the pork chops and add the rest of the onions to top of the stuffing. I have to use cream of celery because someone in my house doesn’t like mushrooms. I add the soup to my measuring cup and some water to make it more easier to pour. But before you pour the soup add more onions to the top of the stuffing. I also add some garlic powder too. I bake it at 350 50 minutes covered with tin foil and the 10 minutes uncovered. And that’s about it because it is really filling. Thank you, for bringing the cooking shows. I enjoy watching I’m learning a lot of new things.

Tip for a crispy crust while oven is preheating put the crisco in the over while preheating and when oven is done preheating take it out and pour the mixture in the pan
If you have sauce underneath the Manicotti noodles and sauce over them you can bake them un-cooked. So much easier to stuff the shells. I learned that from a pretty old weight watchers recipe. Instead of Ricotta which I despise it used cottage cheese. Very yummy.

I grew up eating both sweet and not sweet cornbread. My mom made homemade not sweet cornbread and my grandmother always used Jiffy. So I love both!

The british just call it wooster sauce. That's also what they call the place it's named for. They often cut half the syllables out of place names.

If you have sauce underneath the Manicotti noodles and sauce over them you can bake them un-cooked. So much easier to stuff the shells. I learned that from a pretty old weight watchers recipe. Instead of Ricotta which I despise it used cottage cheese. Very yummy.
