Just like most of our lessons here, the present one incorporates some vocabulary and expressions from other lessons. Thus, by the end of this lesson, you will not only know how to mark definiteness and indefiniteness in Twi, you will also learn or refresh your mind on a number of vocabulary relating to occupations, feelings/states, etc.
I found it really nice that in this video there is no music in the background. It’s somehow clearer, makes it easier to focus on the learnig content and on your voice!
I have been corrected on this article "bi" by my father like a thousand times but never got the difference to my mother tongue (german) but you make it click in only 5 minutes! Yaw - I m repeating myself but: you are an amazing teacher! Thank you so much!
I just ordered one of your books! I am currently learning the Twi language to prepare for my trip to Ghana 🇬🇭. I really enjoyed this lesson! Medaase Paa!
there are three words whose meaning i have been trying to understand: bi, so and wa. so it is very timely that you have addressed the use of "bi". i have been hesitant about trying to write statements in twi for fear of getting it wrong. but i figure learning twi is like learning how to ride the trotros: you learn when you make mistakes. let me try to construct a sentence using what you have taught here. wa te: aberanteɛ no yɛ akpeteshie nsanom bi. (hopefully this sentence makes sense but i get the feeling that it is not exactly correct). in the above sentence, the intention was for the specific act of drinking to be directed to the specific drink, akpeteshie. but i believe if i had written "adom bi", that people would assume that the specific grace being reference was the grace of Awurade/Nyame/Onyankopɔn. so there would be no need to put God in the sentence. so to take an example from one of your previous videos where you used the expression: "Awurade adom, me ho yɛ": th-cam.com/video/d3GxRHCQr0M/w-d-xo.html could the response have alternatively been said: "adom bi, me ho yɛ"? p.s. i believe "wa te" is something tha people say when they want you to pay attention: th-cam.com/video/d-1hLDKdiDg/w-d-xo.html
I have noticed that some words ending in "a" change to an "3" sound when the next word is a consonant, like when you said "obaa bi". What is this phenomenon called?
Me nso medaase 😊. The past couple of lessons have actually been without the background music. Lately, it's been relatively quieter where I live so I'm able to film without having to worry about ways to cover distracting background noises with the music.

Another critical lesson. Loved it. Quick question, if bra is come/to come then why is past tense version baa and not braa? 🤔
